I love when Marvel Legends offers classic comic versions from the Silver & Bronze ages. So Kang, Dragon Man, Inhumans, etc... are dreams come true. While I'm dreaming, here are some real long shots: Golden-Age (The Invaders in vintage 40's style); Military (General T. Ross, Maj, Glenn Talbot, Sgt. Fury & Howling Commandos); Westerns (Rawhide Kid, Two Gun Kid, Kid Colt Outlaw, Ghost "Phantom" Rider, Red Wolf - with wolf and all with horses); Monsters (Tomb of Dracula, Werewolf By Night, Frankenstein Monster, Living Mummy); Asgardians (Balder, Warriors Three, Executioner); Civilians (Rick Jones, Jarvis, Aunt May, Betty Brant, Harry Osborn, Robbie Robertson, Happy Hogan, Pepper Potts, Foggy Nelson, Karen Page, Jane Foster, Betty Ross, Wyatt Wingfoot, etc...) and certainly, always welcomed are more Classic Villains (Frightful Four, Mandarin, Baron Mordu, Attuma, The Owl, etc...). Lastly, will we ever see a 12"-14" Goliath II (Clint Barton / Kree-Skrull War) version? Time will tell - I just hope not too long. 🙂

Cool line up. Some more real long shots: Martial Arts (classic Shang-Chi, with blue-black wrist bands,  yin/yang symbol on the back of his gi; classic Iron Fist- "v" tapered open collar, glossy pine green costume, special effect trail for his fist; classic Mantis (recent Target exclusive Ms. Marvel mold would work for her), with very soft plastic for the skirt fronds; Steel SerpentChaka with triple nunchucks glow;  ShockwaveMidnight;  classic White Tiger; Sons of the Tiger; Bride of the 9 Spiders; Gorgon, white & red robes, soft goods)

Whew! After all these premiums and exclusives they've been banging out this PulseCon has been a welcomed break for me. For the Secret War set I only need Titania and Beyonder and I'm at max capacity for Spider-Man and that Vulture is no Vulture I'm familiar with so it's been pretty easy on me. Never was a fan of the cartoon or cartoon stylized figures so I won't even bother with the story behind the de-aged Vulture. I'll just take it for what it's worth. A welcome break on my pocket book.

What I'm pondering about is the fact that if the leaked list for the Capcom figures are true, then some of these secret wars figures will be re released in two packs. Like cap and iron man that just don't seem right does it? Oh and @ Atlantis would love any of those figures you mentioned throw in the Looter for good measure.

Iron Man doesn't look like the Secret Wars armor in the Capcom games. The leaked lineup was this, so War Machine would likely just be a rerelease of the one they did on the Modular body a few years ago. Unless they did it based on the Bengus art and not the in-game sprite, which would be amazing.

  • Shuma-Gorath
  • Juggernaut
  • Cap & Venom 2-pack
  • War Machine & Omega Red 2-pack
  • Wolverine & Silver Samurai 2-pack
  • Psylocke & Thanos 2-pack

Overall this wave turned out being better than I expected. Beyonder and Titania are no brainers for me as I love to get previously unmade characters and it's the primary reason that I still collect. I really like this Cap and might make him my default Cap over the Toy Biz tribute version, but I'm hoping to see what the rumored Marvel vs Capcom version looks like before this one actually hits. Iron Man has its hits and misses, but the pinless tech is enough for me to have it take the place of the AI version (from the Shang Chi wave?). Unlike most I've never been as much of a fan of these costumes for Spidey and Wolverine, so those were passes for. I'm expecting that we'll be getting a better brown suit Wolverine in the near future, or at least one that I expect to like better. Still lots of remakes/re-do's here which I usually despise, but I honestly kind of expected the entire wave to be that and then they gave us Beyond and Titania -- so I'm happy overall.

I really hope this is the lineup. I've been holding off on Mafex Psylocke in case we did get a new Legends one in 2025.

At the Marvel Legends Pulse-Con panel Hasbro said that the recent Spider-Man: The Animated Series: Spider-Man & Vulture 2-Pack would be the last VHS set released this year and made it seem at least for Spider-Man that line would be going on hiatus like we saw with the previous year's X-Men VHS sets.

However today Hasbro's Dan Yun told folks on X not to worry because they would be doing more Marvel Legends figures based on the Spider-Man: The Animated Series.

They also at the end of their Pulse-Con panel teased an accessory for an upcoming figure that appeared to look like some kind of pulled off mask. Possibly of J.J. Jameson. While it's hard to say for sure, this clue struck me as something we might see with a new Chameleon figure and since they have already done a regular comic version, one based on the Animated Series would seem a more logical choice.

If that is what Hasbro is teasing, a new Spider-Man: The Animated Series Chameleon figure, then I would imagine it will be a single release on a Spider-Man Retro Cardback. Possibly offered during the next Walmart Collector Con event in October along with the Classic Quicksilver figure they first announced at SDCC. They usually offer more than one Marvel Legends figure during the Collector-Con event and they also like to do Spider-Man: The Animated Series ones during it. At the last Walmart Collector-Con we got that Animated Series Venom figure.

This is all speculation of course, but hopefully we will be getting more official details soon. See an image of the original 5" Toy Biz Animated Series Chameleon along with images of the mask teaser from Pulse-Con below.

Although, if I am not wrong, on the animated series, Chameleon didn't use masks but his transformations were due to that technological (almost magic) belt, it would be cool to have this figure on the collection!

Posted

So, in the MCU, they have established the technology in Agents of Shield and Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The only reason they haven't used him has to be Sony.

I feel chameleon will be done in both versions, comic and animated. The tease they showed was clearly for a comic version, which is the version I want more. I know people want the animated version(mainly danwho)but I feel not as much as they want the comic version.

Posted

Yeah I'd say the tease is a pretty clear indicator that it belongs to a comic Chameleon. But honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if they gave such an accessory to the animated version since the ML team isn't always the most meticulous when it comes to character research or design.

At this point the clues are so strong I'd be more surprised if it were literally anyone else besides Chameleon. Here comes the big question. Which version are we going to get. Are we getting the uncharacteristically steroidal version to mimic the one from the old Toybiz line or are we getting a suited one on the scrawny wobbly spaghetti legged suited model? My money is on the suited model. Too easy and too inexpensive for Hasbro to pass up. If that's the case maybe the money they save will let them include more than one extra head sculpt. But I won't count on it.

I wouldn't mind Chameleon with the blue suit and black turtleneck as long as it's Fox Logan size at least. The smaller suit model that we've seen most often would be such a buzz kill. I'm sooo hoping for the smoking lounge jacket version though. And goggles, whether they're a separate piece or sculpted onto an alternate head.

I would prefer either an improved suit body or his Animated Series look (even though he didn't wear masks)

Been wanting an updated Chameleon figure for the longest. I'm hoping they give us the animated version with the purple suit, praying it's not a 2-pack!

LOL. With the way things have been trending they do a deluxe pack at $50. And then count the mask and a few head sculpts as a 2nd figure.

I'm a little worried that the Wolverine and Cap heads might be too goofy for me.  I just recently expanded my Legends collecting from just a few figures and I was counting on this Cap and this Logan to be my defaults.

Posted

Titania and Beyonder are still the stars of this wave for me. I decided to get Cap and Iron Man as well to have the new pinless versions. Cap is likely to become my new default Cap (couldn't care less about the shield because I have at least 20), but I'm having second thoughts about that Iron Man, but will probably still get it to replace the AI one from the Shang Chi / Hyde wave. I know that I'm in the minority here but I've never liked those costumes for Logan or Peter. I had these toys as a kid, but I only like to keep one version of most characters and it's red/blue Spidey for me (RYV) and tiger stripe for Wolvie (XM97) as my defaults.

I always love me some great comparison pics. Hmm. I always thought Titania was around the same height as She-Hulk but I'm not going to make a big deal out of it. She looks amazing. And I love that new buff chic model. Please use it for an updated Valkyrie. Love the pic of the Caps holding hands. Lol. I think this is the best Classic Cap yet. Now we just need a new modern version. Love that Spidey head sculpt but puzzled by the choice for the body model. Had they used that head on the RYV Black Spidey it would have been flawless. That's the only figure I passed on besides Wolverine. I really hope they do more of these Retro SW waves.

Whoof, that pink "T" on her chest looks even worse than it did at first. What a senseless and needless thing to do to her costume. But as the hasboys are in such a "creative" mood, they could expand the Secret Wars line with some updated Wrecking Crew goodness. That way they can produce something that was actually in the comic.
