Snagged Red Hulk, passing on the rest for now.  Just don't feel like paying deluxe prices on everything today.  Fairly confident these will still be around by the time Hasbro does their next 35% off sale thing, and if not, well, I haven't seen the movie so I have no allegiance to this new Falcon character yet, and really, how many Anthony Mackie Sam Wilsons do I honestly need?

Nice call on the extra wing hinge. I didn't see that. Figure is lookin really nice. I'm torn here. I wanna just preorder and get these. But the people saying they'll be on clearance in a few months are probably right, except for Red Hulk. I am generally getting sick of seeing stuff I paid 25-50 dollars for on deep discounts not that long after I got them.

Sometimes you can just look at a thing and know its headed for the discount bin. For me these aren't awful figures, but nothing I'd race home for, if I were still buying hasbo Marvel stuff. I like that the team put in some effort on the wings; of course they're limited in what they can/can not do, due to these being movie versions and not the comic source. Having said that, I miss Falcon's previous Cap suit; I think it incorporated enough of a Captain America vibe, yet still leaving room for the Falcon's identity in it. The "new" Falcon has a tip of the hat to Sam's first appearance outfit, what with the green and brown subbing in for the green and orange (John Romita changing the colors to the now-classic red and white motif was a GREAT move), and I like that helmet. Not enough to snap it up, but if goes to discount, I wouldn't mind picking it up.

Yes these have got that whole Eternals/Shang-Chi/MoM feel to them. They do look cool. And I do like them for their complexity. There's a lot of intricacy and improved mechanics and aesthetics and you can tell there's a lot of work that went into these figures. And if there was no Marvel history and these were put out as G.I. Joe Classified's they'd be a massive hit. But as ML the appeal is just kind of flat. Other than to the staunch MCU figure collector which there are many but they're otherwise pretty bland. It's more the characters themselves rather than the figures. Aside from Red Hulk which was always somewhat organically popular these characters just feel like characters that were synthetically pushed for consumption since their creation and probably won't ever really catch on.

That said I did order the Red Hulk. He just looks too cool and he does look like he could serve as an alternate comic based version. I knew I would from the start though. But I am willing to gamble that the others will show up on clearance. If not it's really OK.

Looking good. Wonder if they do the Leader down the line.

I pre-ordered the Joaquin Torres Falcon as I will always 100% buy a figure of a previously unmade character, even if it's MCU when I prefer comic. This one I didn't have to think about. Instant pre-order even at the $40 price tag.

I also didn't have to think about buying A-Train, I mean Sam-Cap. I just picked up a few of the Target exclusive deluxe comic version of Sam Cap for $10 each a few weeks ago. This was a flat no for me even if I can admire some of the things they did here. I like both head sculpts and changes to the wings, but it's probably not a purchase unless I eventually find it for like $12 and then it would be for the heads and wings.

The one that I'm torn on is Red Hulk. I'd love a nice pinless Red Hulk, but I prefer comic versions strongly. I have both of the previous Hasbro Red Hulks so will probably stick with those but again would probably jump on this if it hit a decent discount. Now if they had included a mustached face sculpt to stand in as Maverick? Then it would have been a full price pre-order for me.

I really hope that this movie does well, but the early word from screenings hasn't been particularly positive. I'd like to think that exposure to the characters in this movie might eventually help get us comic versions of Sabra and more Serpent Society. I don't think that I'd want movie versions though as they'd just be too plain.

Weird how much that Red Hulk still resembles Ruffalo, but based on the teaser shown at San Diego Comic Con, the folks doing the Red Hulk effects made sure he resembled Harrison Ford following his transformation. Seems kinda lazy on Hasbro's part, and I wouldn't be surprised if a more accurate movie version is released later.

Strange. I was struggling to see how it resembled Harrison Ford. I just couldn't see it. But now that you say it looks like Ruffalo I see that. Did the legitimately use the same head sculpt? I'm pretty sure the body is different. He's actually a little more ripped than Ruffalo Hulk.

Dan Who? Reviews was able to chat a bit with Hasbro's Dwight Stall this past weekend at the MCM London Convention.

Among other things they talked about the newly revealed Hasbro Marvel Legends Captain America Brave New World Deluxe Red Hulk, Captain America And Falcon figures which are now available for pre-order from our sponsors BigBadToyStore.com and Entertainment Earth with a suggested retail price of $39.99 each.

Amazon Links: Captain America: Brave New World Deluxe: Captain America, Marvel's Falcon and Red Hulk

They talked a bit about the new Made To Pre-Order Hasbro Pulse exclusive X-Men 97 Sentinel and also how the figures in the line are moving more and more where all figures will incorporate the pin less style.

Dwight teased something special is coming in the next handful of months. An all new character for Marvel Legends with pin-less body. Also he teased the next Build-A-Figure we see is one of Dwight's favorite figures he has worked on in sometime. Not an A-Lister character but not a Q-Lister one either.

They talked about how it can be tricky to bring a character like Mephisto to market but they are always looking at ways to get the things fans want in their hands.

They also talked about the Haslab Giant Man and the problem some folk have had with getting eyes that are not straight. Dwight said if you have that problem to contact Hasbro Customer Service about it and they are aware of the problem and working on getting more straight eyes printed from the factory to correct the problem for people.

Posted

I didn't realize there was a problem with the eyes.  It's a shame as they looked so well done in the prototypes.

I get it though...the eyes on my JP T Rex Transformer don't sit quite right...makes her look a little like she's falling asleep.  Eyes are hard!

Posted

Still waiting on mine should be today, but hope mine is ok. Nice they are going to fix it,but nobody wants to go through that hassle. Bobby vala actually in a way took up for hasbro, saying this could of been someone at the factory. They set there all day maybe just packing or placing said eyes and someone else misplaces one set of eyes with another. The person packing probably didn't notice the difference on account of them known to work fast paced at these places. I know I wouldn't notice, say I got a different batch of eyes after doing that for a few hours.

Its not a problem with everyone's Giant Man. I think the factory fixed the problem in mid-production so its random on who gets one with messed up eyes and who doesnt.

Thanks for this post and interview. I probably woulda just dealt with kinda off eyes for the forward look. Talked about this on the other thread, but called customer care and they were ready for it. You'll need to take a picture of all four eye plates and send that to them. Sounds like there are 2 problems. One off eye on the forward facing look, and some didn't get all three eye styles. Like, they got two side eyes and no forward or whatever. Supposedly getting a new neutral look and forward eyes, cause it's bagged together, in a few weeks.

Sooooooo...Skrullhead to make up for it? Let's start a petition!!!

strange that they didn't list Epic 3.75 inch Falcon & Cap which looked to be deluxe versions

I assume their must be more standard single Epic figures on the way too

and who buys Titans? those just seem ridiculous and seem to be shelf fillers

I've read numerous times that KIDS and parents love the Titans format figures, which is why Hasbro has continued them across several brands for so long. Apparently, they DO sell.

I just unboxed my giant man and got looking down eyes and two sets of off straight eyes...I think hard to tell. Well calling up hasbro add me to the list

I'm on a few FB groups and there are a lot of reports like this. Not just reports of two sets of side eyes but there are more reports of just random sets of eyes looking in all directions. Anywhere other than straight. Almost like they just threw them all in one bin and pulled them out at random. Just none of them happened to be straight. Or maybe the guy they had stamping them was blind or drunk. I made my claim yesterday but I think it's at the point where the easiest way for Hasbro to save face is just to send a straight set to every customer automatically. That would also reduce the amount manpower it's going to take to receive and respond to the mountains of claims that must be coming in. Of course that's assuming there are any straight printed eyes to be found. The law of averages dictate that they might have gotten a few of them right at this point. But I guess if they came in right and you have no complaints there's really no reason to report they came in right. Other than to just let people know it does happen.

That was my thought too, just send them out seems like it happened to everyone. I just called them and they just asked for my order number that was all ,said it would be mid December. I'm just glad they are addressing the problem. Also look at the different eyes with the mask on I couldn't tell the side eyes or looking down eyes just sitting in the face plate. I think that is part of the problem too,it's mainly just an off straight eye everyone is getting.

Personally, no I wouldn't.  I'd pay something along the lines of Dragon Man and Giantman but I'm not a big enough fan of that character to dish out that kind of money.

I would love an updated Fin Fang Foom, but for $500 it better be bigger and more articulated than the original. If it’s not going to be as big as Galactus with light up eyes and fire effects, then don’t bother. I seriously doubt there are enough collectors like me to fund it though.

You two are posting in the wrong thread.

Also, they've been selling them for over a decade now (I first remember seeing these when Iron Man 3 came out). Given how we've seen Hasbro axe multiple series when they weren't profitable, someone must be buying these.
