Hot Toys just posted this teaser showing that additional characters from the Deadpool and Wolverine movie are coming soon. The teaser picture shows Elektra's sai, Laura's blades, Gambit's playing card and a machete for Blade. Stay tuned for more info.

We know how long you've been waiting for this.
Soon you will meet collectibles of The Resistance, and they are going to conquer your display.

Genuine question, does anyone know why it is that Hot Toys is able to produce movie stuff so much faster than Hasbro? I mean Hot Toys are significantly more detailed than Hasbro stuff, so it makes me think that they'd take longer than Legends to produce. Is it something to do with the Hot Toys designers getting access to information on movie suits earlier than Hasbro does?

It just blows my mind that we've only gotten 3.5 Legends from this movie and yet Hot Toys already has 5 figures from the movie up for order, with 4 more on the way.

Wow. I really wish Hasbro had done this first. I think they would have flown off the shelves. I really think they missed a golden opportunity. I'd make a hefty bet that Marvel Select will end up getting in on some of this action as well.

While I can't claim to "know", I can think of a couple of possible factors.  The first is that cloth is easier to design and put out than plastic.  With plastic there's a whole background process for tooling that takes time to get right, cloth is a lot more straightforward.

Another factor would be man-hours.  The Legends team puts out quite a bit more product than Hot Toys does, and while I'm sure they have more people working at Hasbro, time spent per-figure is probably a lot more strained.  They're also working with more focused product slots that have to be determined much further in advance.  "Hey, what are we putting out for Q4 next year?" when it's still Q3 of the prior year probably comes up a lot.  Hot Toys, while much higher quality, probably has less headaches in that department and have the maneuverability that comes with being a much smaller company.  These are just some thoughts off the top of my head.

They technically do. They can whip up prototypes in a few months, but these figures won't be out for at least a year.

I know there are a lot of particulars about how Hot Toys can pull these off as a small company versus a company that works off a mass manufacturing game plan. And I don't even pretend to know the ins and outs of it. But doesn't it just seem ridiculous on its face that a third party like HT or even MS seem to always gets to these much wanted characters before the company that holds the master license? It's just crazy thinking we probably won't get an ML Crimsn Dynamo for many more years. And we may never get Gambit or Elektra from W&DP. It just kind of blows my mind.

Hot Toys isn't a "third party," and Hasbro doesn't have "the master license." That implies that Hasbro allows Hot Toys to make Marvel figures and that Hot Toys has to work with both Marvel and Hasbro. That's not the case. Hot Toys has a separate license with Marvel for 1/6 scale figures, with exclusive distribution in the US through a partnership with Sideshow Collectibles. Technically, I believe, the license for 1/6 figures in North America belongs to Sideshow, which is why they release their own 1/6 scale Marvel figure now and then.
