I enjoyed a lot of what I saw here, Maximum Spidey was pretty nice, I have no need for it myself, but very well done for what it is, I'll stick with RYV Spidey. MCU Electro easy pass, since I don't collect MCU. That new X-Factor Jean is really lovely, and that's a must get for my Ladies of Marvel Shelf.

The Mini comic wave has some sure hits for me, ROM, Daken, Adam and Miles. Banshee is probably a pass because I'm happy with the blue/yellow suit, and Iron Man is a no need.

Alright here is my usual figure by figure runthrough

  • Jean grey - YES! Yes it's exclusive to Target but I don't have to worry about that over here!! Now just need a new Angel and blocky Bobby, maybe a human form Beast and we are sorted.
  • NWH Electro- Yeah seems like Jamie Fox wouldn't let them use his face. No interest anyway
  • Maximum Spidey - At the current moment in time, this is THE Spider-man to get. Can't wait to see what else they do with this line.
  • Mini comic wave or as I like to call it - "Here is all the figures we messed up last time so here is their vastly improved version."
    • Rom - I will say what i said the last time, I have never been so happy to be so wrong about a character I thought would never get made
    • Daken - Nice to have a new Daken and another DA but..... I wanted a different costume.
    • Adam Warlock - When I heard that it was coming with Infinity Gauntlet issue I knew was this version. Glad to have it but like the rest I was hoping for the Cosmic hero version
    • Ultimate Iron Man - This is a vast and I mean vast improvement.
    • Miles - Worried about the hips but this looks to be the definitive version of Miles.
    • Banshee - Yes we are getting this classic version and as a fellow Irish Man, I am delight..... but the best news was that Dwight wasn't retiring. lol
  • Dumbbells? Max Hulk maybe but they are kind of small so f4 She-Hulk?

No unmasked head for Electro? Really? Is that some kind of licensing issue? He looks good though, definitely a must-buy.

McFarlane Spidey huh? I was really hoping for some more saturated colors like on the Amazing Friends Spidey but this is cool too.

Miles looks good but I wish he had a face with larger eyes.

All in all, I'm happy with what I was hoping to see today but not as happy as I could have been.

Yeah, alright, the official shots sold me. Love this Maximum Spidey. Definitely gonna be the centerpiece of the shelf once I get him.

I didn't watch the stream so I don't know if they addressed this but why is Electro a deluxe? The retro Electro came with those effects for the regular price and he's not an overly large figure. This is feeling like a lot of those Black Series deluxes.

Why was Phoenix $50?

To make money I presume. 🙂

There has been a weird trend among a lot of the Sony characters not coming with unmasked heads; Venom, Carnage, Mysterio, Vulture and now this (Sandman and Lizard at least make sense since we don't see their human forms until the very end of the movie). Not sure if it's a budget thing or licensing.

Really happy to have Miles on an updated body with butterflies. I wonder if they can reuse this for some of the New Mutants boys.

Daken looks great and I'm happy Hasbro is putting out so many Dark Avengers in short order. If the leaks are true and there's a Dark Avengers Spider-Man coming later this year too, then it means we've got everyone on the team except Bullseye/Hawkeye (and I guess Ares if they decide he needs a redo; I'm fine with the one from the Ragnarok movie wave).

Looking forward to the Maximum Hulk! It is crazy that we are lacking so many eras of the character. The shorter Frankenstein look of the Avengers 1 era, a jacket less Joe Fixit for the FF look, Smart Hulk from the Olympus era, a long haired version for the current look (which I'm really enjoying the current series), and so many other mutations.

I think it's licensing. Notice the electro head has the mask totally obscuring his face ,it wasn't even like that in the movie it was more of an outline this is like a full mask you can only tell it's Jaime from the back of his head. So you can assume since they hid his face so much it is a likeness issue.

I am absolutely flabbergasted by Hasbro today. They actually delivered here I mean wow. That spiderman, the miles, ROM, Jean, Electro from NWH all just stunning.

Haven't watched the actual Livestream yet so it's hard to tell, is that a new Spidey body or is it the Renew Your Vows buck? Because it looks longer and leaner, which I want for Spider-Man, not a fan of the Romita esque bulkier figures we've been getting, but my Pizza Spidey needs an upgrade.

All new sculpt.

Really disappointed in Adam Warlock; figures that come with snarling expressions as their main and only headsculpt and who aren't Wolverine or Sabertooth are my biggest pet-peev in figures. But...Rom.....good heavens, that about makes up for that, and classic Banshee to finally round out the 70s X-Men. Really excited for these!

Posted

I said yesterday that I'm glad this didn't sound like a BaF wave and it isn't. I can skip the Miles Morales and most likely Daken and Iron Man. Rom, Banshee  and Adam Warlock are a must for me.  I'll get the Marvel Girl though I'm still doubtful we'll ever compete a proper X-Factor

Posted

So....................do Banshee's side-burns/mutton chops retract when he uses his sonic scream???  😐

Nice portraits but, I gotta question WHY are they different???
ROM is a solid for me---been asking for him for a lotta years now.

Did Jean's X Factor suit ever have green boots, or did they cheap out on paint? I can't find a single image of the outfit, masked or not, without yellow boots.

The consensus in many places is that they got cheap or forgot to paint them the right color.

Posted

Great wave!  a other catch all, non affiliated line up that hits a  classic (Banshee), some nice team fillers ( Daken, Ultimate Iron Man) and some long requested characters (Warlock and Rom).

And are they finally completing the classic XFactor line up? Very cool but may be too little too late on this one for me. I've cut waaaay down ( though this is the exact s#!+ that pulls me back in)

Rom. I had the OLD 12' ( maybe he was 15" ?) toy back in the day. It....wasn't great  but he left an impression on me as I collected his comic and jumped at the chance to get the 3 3/4" figure Hasbro put out a few years back. And where Crystar was a complete dud for me,  F#@%ing ROM is a nostalgic trip to a happy childhood. Can't wait.

Wow, nice catch. That is jarring. How could this slip past them?
