My ToyBiz Doop is still good. Don't need to spend money on a Maximum Deadpool just to get this one

Posted

This was announced during the panel earlier this week at SDCC and they now have out in their booth the Marvel Legends Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Doom. No word on how, when or where this figure will be released.

Doooop! I want a Doop, ugh this isn't going to be a stand alone figure obviously, so what dumb Deadpool thing do I need to buy to have him? I feel like everyone saying Maximum DP is probably on the right track, I have so many Deadpools I really really don't want another one anymore.

And Dr. Doom looks pretty cool, but Like so not a needed thing, Also this must be a more recent thing, because I don't remember any Dr. Doom is Dr. Strange business.

It literally happens right now in the comics. Doom became ss to save the world from vampires and took over the world.

Guessing Doop is gonna be with a Maximum Deadpool, but X-Statix figures would be awesome.

Yeah, I would prefer Doop in an X-Statix multi pack, then with Maximum Deadpool

The Wolverine Storm two pack gives us a perfect brown suit version of Wolverine with arguably the best Wolverine Head Sculpts we have ever seen. The Storm is a solid figure too, but I prefer the head sculpts from the Storm and Thunderbird two pack.

That Wolverine isn't perfect. The "wing-tips" on his boots are too short. It's very specific to X-'Men '97, and unfortunately, this doesn't work for a comic-based figure.

You of course realize they have been drawn in various lengths over the years.

I’m kinda bummed there isn’t any live-action MCU announcements. Was kinda hoping for a Void, maybe Wiccan and Death,  some more from DD, maybe Muse. I know Ironheart figures were a longshot, but a Hood would’ve been cool, and maybe one of the suits, preferably the last one. Still, nothing even from the Deadpool and Wolverine cast? Cassandra Nova would’ve been cool, maybe Pyro.

"IF" this Doop this does end up as a pack in to Maximum Deadpool, then Hasbro has already let the wheels fall off the wagon on this experience already

How does a completely different character make Deadpool Maximum? Isn't the whole point to give fans the Maximum version of the character they're selling? Not his friends too?

Because he was packaged with the toybiz version and it would be a homage to that.

We’re definitely at least getting the Void. Hasbro is not one to let an easy repaint pass by.

Re: Mary Jane as Iron Spider

See this is exactly the problem so many people have with Hasbro and it's decision making. If there was ever any time to use the added articulation female model it would be for MJ Iron Spider. But nope. They use it for characters that historically do not need extra articulation like Phoenix and Ms. Marvel. SMH. Hasbro.

Now this is the real maximum hulk! And the only thing I don't like is the legs seem a bit stumpy/short. Reminds me of the toybiz version with the ripped white shirt.

That Cable is speaking to me-having never been able to get the Cable from the Zabu BAF wave. Emma Frost is my other fav too. The Mephisto is an absolute must have for me-already got him pre-ordered.

To finish off SDCC today Hasbro put out a little teaser in their case. Its a Doop figure for the Marvel Legends line. If I had to guess this will be included with the rumored Maxium Deadpool figure that should be coming later this year. Stay-Tuned for more details to come soon.

Would totally buy a Maximum Pool almost for Doop alone

Mezco can be hit or miss. I am happy folks will have it as an option if they were left wanting with Maximum Hulk. I picked up Maximum Hulk (I didn't own a Hulk otherwise).

I know a lot of people felt $60 was a point of contention for Maximum Hulk. But a Mezco is like $120-$150. That's what the Ragnarok Hulk is. In terms of sculpting it looks solid. The only drawback is that Mezco's can have somewhat limited articulation depending on the soft goods. Hulk shouldn't have any problems with his upper body. They gave him Butterfly joints as well. But the legs could be limited by the soft goods pants. My Indiana Jones is kind of limited that way. You have to be careful to not stress the fabric. The face sculpt on Indy also doesn't really look like Ford.

I wonder how he would look in a display next to legends. The more realistic look may not fit as well if someone has mostly legends? But if they want just one definitive Hulk? Probably the way to go.

I'd imagine the reason for that is those arms, if you remember the Peter Iron Spider also didn't have the highly-articulated body for that reason, nor did Superior Spider-Man. To your point though, if we get a new simple-costume Spider-Woman figure that isn't on the super-articulated body, I'm gonna be angry. We really need a new adult Spider-Gwen, hopefully one is coming soon.

Deadpool does not deserve a figure in the Maximum series. They already released a version that can be considered Maximum: The SDCC exclusive from the Hydra Bob 2-pack. At most, I would re-release it as a deluxe with Doop. Let another character, such as Mr. Fantastic, have the Maximum treatment. He needs it. Not to mention, I fear Hasbro will just reuse the Maximum Spider-Man mold and swap out the accessories.

Just pulled the trigger on Mephisto, I felt like I must, since I've wanted a Mephisto for gosh knows how long, and I'm thankful we got a chance, but after I did so, I thought about it all, is this really worth the price, I know age old talking point, but the actual figure is so not MTO worthy, not like Dragon Man, sure sure there is a very detailed throne involved, which likely raised the cost as absolute unique tooling, but I feel kinda a bit like...hmmm, did it have to go this way with this, and then I remember the way the Hasbro team kind of got a bit mean when asked by a few people about these tier characters for the Robbie HasLab, and I kind of felt a way, like a bit jabbed, You didn't back this, we told you, you wouldn't get these characters if not, you won't see them, then yet here Mephisto is...and an MTO, and this price...fine...anyways I want and love it so I'm going to shush...buttt

Hasbro has done a pretty great job of re-doing most figures that needed it, but how have we not seen a re-do of the ToysrUs Classic  X-Men Box Set yet?  How have we not seen a re-do of the Marvel Monsters Box Set yet? How have they not used the Skrull gimmick and included a Skrull head packed in with different characters?  New Mutants?  Warriors Three? Mole Man, Hela, Siff, Valkyrie, Brood, Classic Hydra Agents, Beta Ray Bill, Swordsman, The Mandarin, Bishop the Last X-Man... there just seem to be so many characters that either need to be done or re-done. I hope they get their hands wrapped around how to execute on the Maximum Line, because it is a great idea that has been executed very poorly... hope they get it figured out by the time they get to Thor, Daredevil, and Iceman. Hope they bring back the BAF, as it seems like they are abandoning part of their legacy. Still plenty I am buying this year, but so much more I would buy if they would do it and do it right. And stop with the Target exclusives, or give them a variant of a figure, but make another version available widely (not being able to pick up a Psylocke is absolutely ridiculous, and disrespectful to loyal fans).

Ah, so they make another Emma but again fail to give her a cloth goods cape, which is going to hinder articulation. Not as bad as the last Emma (and by that I meant the restraining plastic cape, not the entire figure) but still....hasbo needs to get with it, soft goods aren't that hard to do. That would have been a nice update for this series.

In regard to previously shared figures, I hope they make the Psylocke/Thanos pack available again because I missed out on it.

Yes, please. The Psylocke pack sold out in less than 8 minutes while I was in the checkout process. I hit “place order” and got “sold out.”  No Target stores in my area. I need that Psylocke!

During the SDCC McFarlane Toys panel they announced new Marvel pre-posed figures including those based on the Rivals video game. Look for 1:6 figures of Hulk, Venom, Iron Man and Spider-Man.

They also announced new 1:10 statues which includes Spider-Man Corner Box Design, Wolverine from Wolverine #6, Ghost Spider from Amazing Spider-Man #1, Colossus from X-Men #1 and Deadpool from Deadpool #1. Ghost Spider and Colossus were said to be Red Platinum Edition releases. This wave is slated to go up for pre-order on AUGUST 1st at places like our sponsors BigBadToyStore.com and Entertainment Earth.
