Wow, I couldn't agree more. Kind of goes with the discussion about Ryan being let go. How Hasbro is not our friend but kind of has to put a friendly face to get us to buy the products. Even when it's a product nobody asked for.

In this case everyone has wanted Mephisto for like ever. We just all assumed it would come as a single or maybe as a BAF. And yes they were kind of mean and IMO out right antagonistic during the EoV Haslab. First time I ever felt they were holding our feet over the fire. I really did lose a lot of respect for Hasbro at that time. That's kind of when I decided I was going to move over to the cherry picking style of collecting. Made me reflect on what I really needed. Recently I even cancelled my pre-orders for Shuma and the Cap/Venom packs. I was just looking at my collection and realized both my Cap and Venom were pretty darn definitive and I don't really have or need a Gamerverse collection so Shuma really is an unnecessary cost. My friend got me my Psylocke/Thanos pack. Tried to unload my Thanos on Ebay for practically nothing and haven't gotten a single bite. Really makes you step back and remember Hasbro's standard MO when it comes to these two packs. They could have easily done a Psylocke/Cap set and a Wolverine/Blue Venom set and sold a ton of them but they had to do what they did to pack in a few more redecos that no one wanted. Whatever. Stuff like that makes it easy to be a cherry picker these days.

But yeah I bit on Mephisto as well and also Dragon Man. And I'm really not that sad about it. The way I look at it it really stopped me having to buy figures I don't want in order to build them if they had been BAFs. Is it an even trade off? Probably not but in this current rotation in ML and if they do end up getting rid of the BAF system I'm happy that I may never have to buy another figure again that I just don't want. In this latest X-Men '97 set I just picked up Emma and Morph. And judging by how the sales and sale outs are going I'd say the majority of us are in the same mindset.

Yes, please. The Psylocke pack sold out in less than 8 minutes while I was in the checkout process. I hit “place order” and got “sold out.”  No Target stores in my area. I need that Psylocke!

We all want and need that Psylocke....It would be great if they would put it back up and it not sell out in seconds. I so love to see all the pictures of people having multiples of the pack and or the ones that have 5 and they're selling them for $150.... SO GREAT!! How about when you drive an hour and a half walk into the store and find nothing ,so you ask and they're rude because they are sick of hearing and people asking about it...I hate it as much as I want it.

All I want to know after seeing that SLU body for "basketball" Gambit, is this, does that mean that molds from other lines are available for the ML team to use? Sure seems like that's the case with what we're seeing.  Granted, nothing specific comes to mind, but all those nice pre-tooled Classified figures with better articulation than most Legends, some of those have got to be able to be used for something in ML.

When Classified first started we were told they couldn't use the molds for Legends or vice versa. No parts sharing.  It's curious people think that Gambit is stolen from their sports figures.  That would be a change.

Yep, I remember that.  However, looking at some of those SLU figures, minus their jerseys, they're dead ringers for that new Gambit figure, they even have the basketball holding hand.  Quite a coincidence if that's not the exact same mold minus the head and jersey of course.

During the SDCC McFarlane Toys panel they announced new Marvel pre-posed figures including those based on the Rivals video game. Look for 1:6 figures of Hulk, Venom, Iron Man and Spider-Man.

They also announced new 1:10 statues which includes Spider-Man Corner Box Design, Wolverine from Wolverine #6, Ghost Spider from Amazing Spider-Man #1, Colossus from X-Men #1 and Deadpool from Deadpool #1. Ghost Spider and Colossus were said to be Red Platinum Edition releases. This wave is slated to go up for pre-order on AUGUST 1st at places like our sponsors BigBadToyStore.com and Entertainment Earth.

Am I the only one that doesn't really like the proportions of some of the characters in Rivals? Hulk kind of looks silly with a tiny head.

As for parts sharing I can't think of anything for a body mold. The only thing I can think of is that flight stand for the Hawkeye Sky Cycle. Wasn't it used first in a Star Wars line?

That flight stand was indeed used for the Star Wars Black Series Speeder Bikes.  A rare example of crossover-use between two licensed brands.

Completely agree, Mephisto is not worth the cost. If people actually look at it without the excitement of a long awaited character,  it's essentially a deluxe figure, or even a Maximum figure since accessories seem to be what give it that designation.

Throne? Cool, but will likely never display it. Cloth cape? IMO, trash like all soft goods. That leaves a sword and an extra set of hands and a extra head..

Yeah,  I know, that would never give us a devil figure in stores or at this price.... seems kinda appropriate does t it? Lol...

Dragonman felt like a deal and worth the MTO format. This just feels.. greedy... and coming from the failed Haslab that originally bore this figure, the high cost=value also feels appropriate,  just in all the wrong ways

Back in February we first told you how the third Marvel Legends Maximum figure was slated to be Deadpool.

This past weekend Hasbro at SDCC teased a new Marvel Legends Doop figure as their Sunday teaser which to us seemed pretty clear is something that will be included with the "rumored" Maximum Deadpool.

But was was that the only Maximum figure they teased at SDCC? If you check out the new interview MCUCollector did Hasbro's Dwight Stall and Dan Yun, it sounds like perhaps their was another teaser in the booth.

Could we see a Maximum Magneto figure with a Build-A-Force Field? Dwight made sure to clarify in the interview he wasn't confirming anything, but both he and Dan seemed to strongly suggest their was something in cabinets that was a teaser for something besides Doop. I have no information about a fourth Maximum figure but Hasbro does say in the interview they have a couple more Maximum figures already in the works. So could Magneto be #4? I guess time will tell but check out MCU's interview and let us know what you think.

Maximum Magneto would be sweet, since Hasbro never got Magneto right, there was always something missing, either it was body, helmet shape or something else like 97 one being weirdly short. It will be even more awesome if they get into wired capes.

The thing I have observed with these toy companies, and probably Hasbro more than any other, is that you can’t actually take what they are saying as truth, especially when it comes to pushing sales. At the end of the day, the “faces” of the Marvel Legends team are salesmen. Their job is to get people to buy a product that is being presented at the moment it is available. At the time of the Ghost Rider Haslab, I can’t help but feel they were getting kind of desperate. The thing was going to fail, and the only real selling points were the add on figures. They swore up and down that those characters wouldn’t be produced again- why? Because they needed people to fork over money right then and there. Now that a couple years have passed, Hasbro realizes they can still capitoline on a Mephisto figure, and thus we now how one available (we also got a version of Goblin Queen through the ‘97 line). Hasbro only speaks in absolutes when it will profit them in the moment, but at the end of the day, the company will go back on its words if it feels like doing so would also profit them. I am not saying don’t trust the Hasbro team, but I am saying realize that salesmen push sales. It is their job. They say what needs to be said to try and make sales happen, but the longevity of what they say may only apply until the company or the team feels otherwise.

Hasbro kind of has us by the "short and curlies", don't they?
A captive niche audience, keenly interested in a specific series of products/brands and now socially programmed to "jump" more or less on command.  Dangle the carrot in front of us, and we start drooling for it.
Classic Pavlovian response.
But I think that is largely on us--it is classic FOMO.
I don't think Hasbro is necessarily being  deceptive, because they do plainly show the renders, the prototypes and the promo picks---so we know what we are getting...... there's no real "bait & switch" going on.   What there IS taking place it a kind of odd "dangling-tease" happening.
We get offered a figure that is between 1/2 to 3/4s of the way there at first, only to get the fully-fledged version at some point down the road,   Two examples of that: Banshee and Lilandra.  Banshee has two portraits, one with side burns, one without.
The one without is his yelling sculpt--using his powers, objectively his ideal almost default) look.
With FOMO in play, that set is one that collectors will buy, but......as practise has shown.....we WILL get that yelling head WITH sideburns later, probably on a body with a different costume to frustrate us all again.  Eventually.......the "correct" version will appear.  Do you jump now, or wait? Because you never know if it will appear again............... FOMO.........FOMO..........FFOOOMMMOOOOOO.....

Lilandra first appeared as a add-in portrait for the Walgreens exclusive Mystique.  The implied idea what that this was our shot at the character/figure---you had to kitbash the look using another figure to finish her.
And then they released a proper Lilandra in a two-pack.  And once again, FOMO is the psychology behind it all, and we obligingly jump through the hoops again.........and again.........and again.
As a collector of ML since the beginning, I'm not only wary of the practise, I'm scornful and even petulant about it. I look really closely at what is offered before I buy and cherry-pick what is available.
But, at the same time...........I get it........it's how to do business in a collector environment--variations and iterations add variety and populate a brand.  They don't state it anymore, but I have a LOOOOONG way past the ol' thinking of " collect them all".

Coming into SDCC, I was very hyped, but now it feels like I've psyched myself out. I genuinely feel like for the vast majority of companies, it was lackluster showing. And IMO no one was weaker than Hasbro's, from the reveals in digital to physical just kinda suck and many really suck. Hope Hasbro brings heat in their next live stream because this wasn't it at all.

Mezco can be hit or miss. I am happy folks will have it as an option if they were left wanting with Maximum Hulk. I picked up Maximum Hulk (I didn't own a Hulk otherwise).

I know a lot of people felt $60 was a point of contention for Maximum Hulk. But a Mezco is like $120-$150. That's what the Ragnarok Hulk is. In terms of sculpting it looks solid. The only drawback is that Mezco's can have somewhat limited articulation depending on the soft goods. Hulk shouldn't have any problems with his upper body. They gave him Butterfly joints as well. But the legs could be limited by the soft goods pants. My Indiana Jones is kind of limited that way. You have to be careful to not stress the fabric. The face sculpt on Indy also doesn't really look like Ford.

I wonder how he would look in a display next to legends. The more realistic look may not fit as well if someone has mostly legends? But if they want just one definitive Hulk? Probably the way to go.

Mezco's are def a hit or a miss but they've gotten somewhat better over time. Maximum Hulk was not bad, just wished it was half the price. If you're someone who just wants one hulk figure- this wouldn't be bad. Yes the cloth goods can hinder articulation- I'm not sure he would work well in a legends display- he looks way too mature and detailed next to the more toyetic legends. Mezco's are for the adult collector but they make them with more quality rather than legends. For me, if one wanted to buy legends for the kids to play roughhouse with, it's more doable.

The legends community subreddit is pretty chill for the most part. People try to help others out. You have a few rotten apples as you do in any community. But people on that subreddit will post links to preorders (as they do here as well). They will post sightings of areas where they find figures.

I know a lot of people were excited to have it in hand. One guy reposted a pic someone had posted elsewhere where one individual had a truckload of them and it is sickening.

Yeah I could see it standing out a bit too much trying to pose it with legends. But we both agree that if someone wants that one definitive Hulk? This may be the one.

I was a bit bummed out by my Indiana Jones. Toht too. The sculpts and soft goods were generally pretty good. Lots of accessories, the light up ark, etc. But Toht's jacket is kind of useless. And Indy's holster has no fastening. I can probably do something with a tiny magnet.

Oddly, with Banshee they already had the chance to do that, but didn’t. The classic green/yellow version could have reversed the sideburn situation from what was included with the 90s team 3-pack Banshee.

That would have been a major incentive for me to get the classic one.

Kind of odd to use these pink force field pieces for a Max Magneto instead of making it clear for a max Sue Storm. It's not like they didn't know the movie was coming out ya know? That being said, I wouldn't for sure turn down a really nice Mags. It'd be nice to have some big girders and pieces of car or something that could attach to the force field for a swirling power effect that could surround him. Not super excited for a Deadpool. I was more looking forward to the rumored Thor.

Wait a minute. I was just looking back at the pic of the force field for Magneto. Am I late to the party here, or did anyone else see that the Magneto has a cloth cape, the legs look new and that helmet might even be removable!

It really is disgusting and sad to see this still going on. The community should be using our voice and buying power to insist that hasbo either stop this "exclusive" thing, when clearly its not benefitting collectors,  or offer alternative buying venues. And YES I KNOW that negates the whole exclusive thing but they did it to themselves.

The community should not be catering to scalpers. Scalpers only exist because people keep feeding them. Thats not on hasbo, Target, Walgreens, Amazon, etc.

I'd love to see a concentrated effort to get these figures to collectors in Canada and overseas at REASONABLE prices. No more than $5.00 more than what we pay in the US.
