Marvel Movie News: X-Men Reboot, Robert Downey Jr., Upcoming Movies, Blade, Deadpool

Casting will commence shortly, and Marvel is seeking younger talent and wants to stay away from 'A-Listers' for the new X-Men movie.  Jake Schreier is set to direct an upcoming X-Men movie from a script penned by Michael Lesslie. This is to control costs, according to an agent. Marvel has scheduled a film for July 23, 2027, but sources say it is not the X-Men film.

Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Doctor Doom for Avengers: Doomsday. This return comes with a significant price as Downey Jr. stands to earn $500 million to $600 million across seven Marvel films and three guest spots. He will not accept a reduced rate for Doomsday. Chris Hemsworth, returning as Thor, will also command a high salary. Marvel plans to release the film on December 18th, 2026.

The upcoming Marvel film set to release in theaters is Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31st, followed by Doomsday in December and Avengers: Secret Wars in December 2027.

Marvel is not rushing the Blade reboot or a new Deadpool film; however, there are discussions about a potential Black Panther 3 directed by Ryan Coogler.

I've been complaining about this for a while. They spend 300 million before shooting a scene due to the actor salaries. Now it needs to be a billion dollar theater run to be a success. The main issue for me though, is I don't picture super heroes as being in their late 40s to early 60s.

Um first point is, So they are casting "X-Men movie" , but it's not "THE" X-Men movie, none of that even really makes sense, and sounds like some cyberjocky troll is just typing things to get a hit.

Well Downey is already richer then Doom anyways, so this just makes him seem like a j-erk, I don't care how much you are paying him, but "he will not accept a reducded rate" wow...bro relax.

Should have cast someone who wasn't such a money hungry celeb, Who really should thank marvel for making him a career and getting him rich, honestly cast someone who isn't Tony Stark, and try to re-capture the glory days, spending more money then anyone can imagine on a marvel movie...

No, Can you let Black Panther rest, we don't need a 3, do you know how many potential characters could have movies Marvel Studios? Chadwick passes, and the last film was a nod and tribute, we don't need more, let it go.

Marvel Studios is remaking the X-Men movie and will be looking for fresh faces, rather than actors we have seen before in major movies.  Sources are saying Marvel has a movie scheduled for July 2027, but it's not the X-Men reboot.

It's weirdly phrased and oddly mentioned. They are casting for THE X-Men movie. 

On an unrelated note, there's a film slated for July 23, 2027. It is NOT the X-Men movie.

Ah I see this now, so it's just a bad phrasing job, yes they are casting THE X-Men movie, but also there is a movie sceduled for 23rd of July 2027 which is a different movie and it's unknown.

I am glad to hear they plan to cast young unknowns for X-Men. I am beyond ready to move on from the entire Fox cast.

I recently realized after hearing a friend talk about it, we NEED Matt Wood as Wolverine! 

he's got the look, and hes got the brooding angry, he's short and stocky, He was great as John Belushi in the SNL movie, give this guy the role!

also After seeing a trailer with that kid Austin Butler, he needs to be Gambit, Jesse Plemmons as Beast! just saying...also Dewanda Wise still needs to be Storm she's perfect.
