When I first heard about this rerelease...I planned on getting it to upgrade from my VHS Animated X Men Mystique... with the cell shading REMOVED of course... but now that I see that they look almost EXACTLY alike..I might pass... even tho I do like the guns & the pinless joints ..then again I'll probably just get my preorder in & decide later on whether to cancel or not...

Yes Yes, as much as this is updating this figure, Pinless, better leg choice, Overall it's not enough for me to get this, is it likely a better-ish figure yeah I'm sure of course, I'd rather not have to buy Mystique again or try and find it, so I'll just stick with what I have, despite this having some elements I prefer I'm going to sit this one out.

I'm glad that I passed on Mystique in 2019 because this one is an obvious improvement but there was so many ways to make her better, add additional neutral expression head sculpt and use Phoenix Torso and this could have been slam dunk, I'm pretty sure that fans wouldn't even complain if bootless X factor Jean didn't reuse torso from Phoenix and instead that torso budget went to Mystique.

Okay so I'm back here, imagine this, because an Ironic turn of events occurred, like the toy gawds were talking to me, a portion of my ladies of Marvel shelf fell over, one of those amongst the fallen was Mystique....well looky here, the leg is warped into a horrible twisted mess! No its true the warping...the warping....turns out more then mystique suffers this issue, those old pinned spindle legs...they have all warped, I now see about 7 figures with horrible crunkled warped legs....it's painful, its real, Now...I feel like I'm on a game show, because I have a change of heart...I might need to update all of these ladies that I can..

As usual, I just looked at all the pics attached to this, and low and behold, all the Mystiques lined up so I can see the differences!! Great comparison shots between the Mystique figures!! Thanks Tugg!! Awesome job!

Slight upgrades hardly justify the increased price. The butterscotch weapons on the previous looked weird, so its good they went with black this time. The molded gloves look better than just painting on, but not going with a soft goods "dress", and lack of ab movement, AGAIN, just make this a hard pass. Good review!

Fortunately, your Deadpool hasn't suffered the same fate; otherwise...

But yeah, that sucks. Maybe you could rehab your figures instead of updating/buying new?

Been enjoying your reviews as well! Liked your Emma Frost one recently. Really like how you break down if you can remove certain parts for kitbashing! 

Oh I have thought about that boil and reshape fix, I keep on thinking about how massive of an undertaking that might be, since there is a lottt of figures that have suffered this fate, and I'd have to deconstruct a very carefully set up display...but it might have to boil down to that (pun intended) 😏

but thanks for the reminder, that is an option.

Wish you the best if you go that route. I may have to heat up the Max Deadpool. His shoulders are a bit stiff. But he's not as gummy as Battle Damaged Spidey. I don't have too many figures with pinned joints myself as I started collecting more recently. But there are a few. I just wish Hasbro would update its female figures with the improved buck. Even that MJ Iron Spider has that same old female "Shriek" body.

Hmmm...... I have the new figure, but I've not opened it. I was leaning towards returning it for much the same reasons as been described already in that it's not thaaaaat different from the WG version. But man...seing them side by side in the video this latest vid, and seeing those dreadful warped spindly legs and the bulkier shoulders....yeah, I'm keeping her and leaning towards updating all my fav Marvel ladies as they get rehashed. I'm well-pleased 80s Black Widow is getting updated, so now all I'd really need to see updated is red suit Elektra! Oh....and classic Spider Woman...and Thundra, Scarlet Witch, Hellcat, Valkyrie (that's just off the top of my head).

My Mystique arrived yesterday (along with Gorgon and Medusa)

She's nice. Mine moves well, but saw some folks had stiff joints...one guy on reddit, had their knee and leg 'fused' from the factory. 

I still think the head/hair sculpt on the back of the package would have looked better.
