So we waited half a decade to finally get a new comic book-based Abomination that is, in a nutshell, a new head on the old Gamerverse body? Don’t get me wrong, it was a great figure for a time and still looks great, but if they made us wait 5 years for a reissue with a new head, they could at the very least give the figure pinless legs. Now, if they released this exact figure two years after the BAF, I would have been way more understanding and not even critical.

Abomination doesn't have fists? Wha....??

Why does the brown suit wolverine come with an extra neck and cowl down pieces? is there an unmasked head that wasn't shown yet?

I was lookin at that for a good minute too. So they assume we have a few Jackman heads laying around. Personally, I don't. I guess I can open my Headpool figure, but a snarling or angry face would be more useful there. It's kinda funny since he wasn't wearing the cowl in the movie. I'd rather have the masked head, but yeah, why give us that neck and down cowl?

As far as reveals go, definitely a solid line up. The standouts to me are the Ghostrider and the Kitty Pryde. Tempted to pick up Abomination as well, although it's giving me heavy kitbash vibes, still a cool looking head sculpt.

I like this 2-pack. I don't know that this Colossus will replace the one that came with Juggernaut, but definitely a good opportunity for others that may have missed out!

I know they have to pay something. What I meant was that it almost seems like they have pay each time they use it, not pay once and they have the likeness indefinitely or for some number of years.  It's weird they could do Jackman, for example, last year but not this year.  It's also clear that actors and actresses are becoming more protective of their likeness rights (probably to charge more).  There are more holdouts than there used to be, particularly from MCU films.  Strangely, though, this doesn't seem to come up in Star Wars (although I will be curious about what happens with Mandalorian going forward since he's kind of taken off in the last few years).

In short, I have been intrigued (in a bad way) by the lack of unmasked MCU heads lately.  And I expect it to happen more often going forward.

Also, I didn't quote correctly, but I would be shocked beyond belief if Cassandra and X-23 aren't on clearance for like 50% off this time next year (or earlier).

I almost feel like it's a timing thing. To your point? It does seem like they obtain the license for one figure, and it's a one-time deal. So they aren't paying a perpetual license for the likeness? I mean, we got Pedro Pascal as Reed. Kind of hard to do a Reed Richards figure for First Steps without an 'unmasked' head. Or a Bernthal Punisher. Heck, they must have got the license for Wesley's likeness for Blade, or they would have glued his shades onto his face as they did with Jaimie Fox's Electro. I suspect, like you say, they probably would have to pay each time they use it.

This is one that is a real headscratcher. They literally had the Andrew head already (Just like they do Jackman). So one would think they could just bundle it in. Is it to cut cost? Probably. But is it to cut the cost on manufacturing/production? I feel that the cost to produce these heads they already have files for, probably is marginal compared to the cost to license the likeness again? All speculation of course.

To answer this they literally said in the presentation that there is an unmasked head from the previous figure. So yeah it sucks, because it essentially sounds like "Go buy this other figure if you want that." I mean I already did when it came out. But as you pointed out? Many people don't. Kind of goes back to the issue that @jscottt991 and I were discussing where they have these unmasked heads and the files and don't include them. Whether it's to cut production costs, or avoid paying for the likeness again. (Or a combination of the two).

Fortunately...there are ways around this. If you are willing to pay for a custom head...

spacer.png
This head is about $20...unpainted. I paid about $50 for a custom Felicia Hardy Black Cat head. $30 or so for a Fahrul Maximum head.

spacer.pngspacer.png
The custom head, the skin was a bit too light. I had to repaint the skin myself, but I didn't want to mess up the mask. Used a liquid mask for the first time. (I later repainted the inside of the mask around her eyes as well. (Some people do not want to go to those lengths or expense, which is understandable). But it's always an option for folks who do not have the other figure. And if they don't like the idea of giving Hasbro more money to get a head that, for all intents and purposes, should have been included? Well, in going custom, you come out 'a-head'.

@since83spacer.png
This guy is still readily available at $26. It's the legacy Wolverine. Not sure if the head suits you, it is a younger-looking Jackman. But it is a snarling face.

Yeah I don't really have much of an Astonishing team, but I need a Colossus for my 90's era team and I feel like you can fudge him and fit him in. I still need a more classic Jubilee. I got the 97 one but...the black bodysuit is not what I was hoping for. Her effect hands and head sculpt almost made it worth it alone. I still may try customizing her into something more...classic.

That is pretty much criminal. It'd be like a character with a two-handed ax not being given two grasping hands.....yep lookin at the Executioner there. I would have much preferred another grasping hand to the open hand. I really like that figure, but it is pretty glaring. And yes, Abomination needs fists guys. My only real saving grace with this figure is that I didn't finish the baf. So I won't feel.totally ripped off for a few heads and a paint job.

I don't know what else that bird could be outside of Red Wing...however he doesn't appear to have any kind of auburn/russet coloring at all in him. The Toybiz version was pretty great, considering what it was. I was hoping they would at least give him articulated wings, but that doesn't appear to be the case here. Really hope that they're gonna do classic 70's Falcon!

Definitely the best reveal of the year for me, but I do have a couple gripes regardless. The absence of a head to go with the neck on Wolverine, and the lack of two team members are annoying, and aisde from that, it was a huge missed opportunity to not introduce the swappable hair of GI Joe classified for X-23. Or at the very least, give us an angry head as well. As is, she just has two calm heads with two different hair styles. I also wonder what's going on with likenesses, this is now the 5th release of a movie Deadpool to not include an unmasked head. This makes me think Ryan Reynolds hasn't given his likeness rights to Hasbro for some reason, and makes me worry that we'll never see Nicepool.

All that aside, I did preorder the whole wave instantly and I'm super excited for the significant upgrade the DP3 shelf is gonna get next year. I'm waiting for Dogpool to preorder as well, and I REALLY hope we see another wave. At the very least, I'd like to see Elektra, Gambit, Nicepool, Ladypool, Human Torch and AOA Wolverine. It would be cool to get way more characters as well, but those are the ones that would make my collection feel complete.

There are a lot of reasons you aren't going to see Nicepool. I'm worried these same reasons might keep us from getting Lady Deadpool.

The odd looking head for Abomination is from the "Immortal Hulk" story arc, a personal favorite of mine. Without going into two much detail, at that point in the story the head represents a combined Emil Blonsky and Rick Jones.

Yeah, that's the super creepy starfish one with two faces in it. We were talking about that third head with a pronounced horn brow ridge and no pupils. But yeah, Immortal Hulk was so insane and awesome!!! Glad you read it too. I loved that title!

Love the Ghost Rider set, but why does he have white gloves?  I didn't remember him having white gloves, so I Googled pics and couldn't find even one with white gloves. Weird!

It's funny, I was all, "look his Champions of LA outfit!" And Jeffery Lyles agreed with me. So, I'm not the only one that pictures him looking this way in that series. Just looked at all the covers....not a one looks like this. I'm literally confused🤪

Update...

Cover of Ghost Rider 11. He's fighting the Hulk. Pretty awesome cover too. But he has the gloves on.

Shown below is a look at the new Marvel Legends Series Punisher Hulkbuster Armor Figure from Hasbro. This is the figure they have been teasing over the last several months. Helmet shown in images is prototype and will be changed. No word yet on where or when in 2026 this figure will be available for pre-order. When more information is available we will be sure to let you know.

Damn that sucks. Although...I could 100% see us getting Lady Deadpool in the wave since they wouldn't have to include an unmasked head. We never saw her face anyway. But yeah I remember seeing about this. But Nice Pool would be a fun 'gag' character to have.

He looks pretty sick. If I were a diehard Punisher fan I'd probably look to pick him up. I am not sure I have the space. What do folks predict for price on him? Abomination is $47 I believe. I am going to guess this Punisher Hulkbuster is $65-70 judging by Juggernaut/Gargantos.

While I'm pretty certain that I'll buy all of Abomination, Cosmic Hulk, Doc Samson, Hulk 2099 and Red She-Hulk, it's more notable the figures that we likely won't be getting that I've wanted for a very long time: Rick Jones (A-Bomb or otherwise), Zzzax, U-Foes, Bi-Beast, Lyra, Red King, the Warbound, etc. I've wanted another Hulk Wave ever since the early Hasbro Fin Fang Foom wave but was has been leaked is utterly underwhelming.

I'm all for a new smart Hulk, though the ToyBiz one still holds up. I'd go for an A-Bomb for sure but Zzzax would be a great choice.
