Fabian Nicieza and I in the same book?

06 June 2018 - 10:45 AM

This is only tangentially Marvel related, but since there is so little news here lately....

The Joy of Joe, a book that features contributions from 30 essayists about the ways in which the G.I. Joe universe impacted their lives, went on sale last night.  One of these contributors is Fabian Nicieza.  Comic fans might recognize some of the other contributors as well.  World famous G.I. Joe author and all around swell guy Bill Nedrow also contributed an essay, features on the cover, and gets co-editing honors.

It is available in paperback and digitally.  Go check it out.

G. I. Joe Contamination Legacy

04 January 2018 - 09:06 PM

I know that this isn't Marvel toy news, but there is definitely something for Marvel 4" collectors in this post.

G. I. Joe Contamination Legacy: Sightline was released on Amazon about an hour ago.  I don't want to call too much attention to it (and I'd kind of appreciate nobody else doing so either), but I will say that I wrote this one with you guys in mind.  In fact, there is a strong message that I think that fans on this board (and maybe...hopefully nobody else) will appreciate.

Go check it out today (after all, it isn't like our favorite toy company is making too many demands on your wallet):

Nothing Else to Talk about, so let's celebrate Stitch's news

22 August 2017 - 08:48 AM

There isn't much news floating around here, so I think that it is criminal that Stitch has been keeping a news item from most of us.  He recently acquired a brand-new, mint Jaina.  Now, this is a rare, one of a kind item that hasn't been made available to the public.  It isn't officially sanctioned by Disney, but it may be the coolest item that any of us have gotten in a long time.

I'm talking not about Han and Leia's now canonically erased daughter but of Stitch's own new baby girl.

This (and the resulting lack of sleep) may, of course, explain some of his recent crossover ramblings.  I mean, equipping Rom and Star Wars characters with Nerf guns?  That almost sounds as foolish as trying to make a unified world out of G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Action Man, MASK, and...oh, wait.

Anyway, I thought it might be fun to congratulate Stitch on the new addition to his family.  Going beyond that, he has been such an integral part of the community that I would even consider taking up a collection to get his daughter a little gift from all of us.  I have a statue of Jaina in my collection that wasn't too pricey.  If it is still available, maybe we could all pitch in a few bucks to get that for him (I think it was about $60).  If we don't think that we can rustle up that much money (Force Friday is coming, after all), we could always shoot for $20 and get her a Black Series Jaina figure when it hits the shelves.

Deadpool comic question

10 August 2017 - 02:38 PM

Ok, this has nothing to do with toys, but it has been really quiet around here and I have nobody else to turn to.

I'm just finishing the Dugan and Poshn run on Deadpool. I read the wedding issue, but I can't identify the couple in the photo booth snapshots on the right page (basically the last ones shown). Can someone please help?

Sorry for the digression. We can all get back to having nothing to talk about when this gets resolved.
