What is going to happen to the planned upcoming exclusives for this year like the Days of future past ect? Been thinking about this since the news broke a day or 2 ago.

Just like TRU got Back in Black Deadpool (that poor figure is going through the ringer).

As long as they still are released I am good . Haven't stepped foot in a TRU more then once a year in the last 10 years.

Anything that's been manufactured will find a home eventually. Anything that's not may be in limbo till it finds a home.

They're not closing everything. There are still the 200 Canadian stores, and they're supposedly looking at buying into the 200 hundred top performing TRUs here in the states.

So it could be that the exclusives will only be sold in Canada, or, if we're lucky, at the 200 stores that DO remain open (IF they do). Either way, they're gonna be a lot tougher to find.

On the other hand, TRU isn't simply closing, they're liquidating (selling off their assets). Since, in financial terms, the exclusives would be considered an asset, they may be bought by another retailer.

Yeah they'll go to some other retailer. Not like they're gonna throw them all in a bonfire or something.

I don't know where or if they'll be released. I just know I REALLY need that Ant-Man/Stinger set. I'd love to get the Pepper Potts and Sentinel sets to, but if not getting them is the worst thing that happens to me this year, I'll be doin' alright.

... But the Ant-Man set is a much deeper issue.

Yeah same here, I am seriously hoping that the Antman set will turn into a Walmart exclusive. Make it easier to get.

I can't imagine any scenario where they aren't released. Just didn't know if there was a plan in place. Also someone said not every store in the US is closing but that isn't true . Every single store in the USA IS closing.

there is hope that 200-400 stores will be purchased by MGA Entertainment (makers of dolls like Bratz and LOL). Dont know what the latest on that is though.

Still pending....MGA is trying to acquire the Canadian division and is also attempting to include the top 150-200 performing US stores. There is also a rumor that from the ashes of TRU, KB toys may make a return!

Only sort of a return. The company that now owns the KB Toy Store brand is looking to capitalize around 1,000 pop-up stores for the holiday season. Assuming that goes through, they'll look at which ones are the most profitable and possibly move toward keeping those stores open permanently.

Apparently Amazon is also looking to potentially buy up some of TRU's stores with an eye towards opening a brick 'n mortar chain of Amazon stores.

The question of "what happens to the product designated "TRU exclusives" has been answered. Entertainment Earth will be taking over the reins (in some cases with another entity) and has the Vision/Scarlet Witch 2 pack up for order. I received word from my rep that EE will be getting most of the (formerly) TRU exclusives. Some will be in unison with another entity.

Good to know. I prefer this then them going to place like walmart and target as I buy all my figures online anyway. I think the last figure I got out of a store was the agent venom figure a few years back. The stores here in Jacksonville just are way to slow getting anything .

Actually, I'd kinda prefer they went to Target or Walmart. As far as I'm concerned, that mark up just makes BBTS another scalper.

Just went into my local Toys R Us on a gut feeling telling me I should just go in and see what they got and found the Hydra two pack that never reached my store. They must have been sitting in the back for a good while. I was on the fence about getting this two pack but figure with this being right in front of me that I may as well get it. Keep checking your stores, you never know................

I hear ya. I don't know how they got such a good reputation with their prices. I always manage to find most things at a better price with other etailers. Most of the times it's much cheaper at Dorkside or even EE. I guess advertising really works.

Once upon a time BBTS had better prices than, as far as I could tell, any other major etailers; however, this was in 2007, 08, 09. I've always figured they built their reputation from that and then ran with it.

That's exactly why I prefer brick 'n mortar stores. Sure, finding new figures in my area is like trying to find a needle in a haystack when you can't even find the haystack, but at least I know I'll be paying a set price when/if I do find them.

Eh, I kinda do my shopping based off trends & speculation. If it's a typical wave that looks to be easily available I don't mind doing the foot chase, but if it's gonna be one of those HTF waves or waves that have those couple of characters that will be guaranteed Scalper Bait, I'll go the online route. If you catch them early enough, most waves can be found at retail cost, minus tax and gas. Sometimes it's better.

Lol, we'll if you catch em really early at Dorkside they're much cheaper, but in the case that I don't I have a few dependable ebay vendors that will usually let me haggle em down to retail. So I do kinda cheat a little.
