  1. Here is a bright idea. If Marvel Studios wanted to use a female herald of Galactus. Why not use Frankie Raye? Why not use Stardust? A character who can identify as non-binary or gender-fluid. Given the comic book writers' own uncertainty regarding the latter's gender.

  2. They get a name, you expect someone at Target knows who Ka-Zar really is? That being said, no Target and Walmart didnt pass on this wave cause it had a Tarzan like character in it. They passed cause they know a wave like this isn't going to sell in large enough numbers for them to carry it especially if all the online places are carrying it. Target and Walmart will carry something like a Deadpool and Wolverine wave or will choose to carry certain exclusives where they dont have to worry about others competing for their sales and such. IDK how many times this has to be said before it starts to sink in with people. The days of these things being widely available at physical big box stores are coming to an end. Most adult collectors these days do their shopping online and kids and parents dont buy this type of thing much anymore. Thats why you continue to see companies moving to smaller production runs which in turn makes for more expensive figures. The upside is companies are more willing to do more obscure characters they wouldnt do 10 years ago or more elaborate items. The downside is you gotta pay more to get it. Also this isnt a Marvel Legends thing, or a Hasbro thing, this is a industry wide thing.

  3. they didn't put figure as tier precisely because we kept complaining that those figure were hid behind tiers. They gave us exactly what we wanted. Anyone who says otherwise are honestly hypocrites.

  4. If someone is going to back it and is choosing to wait until the last for whatever reason, the only reason they wouldnt back it then is if the campaign is so far off the mark there is no way it would meet its goal and so what would be the point. If that's the case its hardly the fault of the person who waited that the campaign failed. And if there are truly 3-4k people who are that much on the fence about this, that in its own right is an indication this wasn't a great choice for a figure on Hasbro's part. It's not the consumers job to try and convince other consumers they should buy this, its Hasbro's job to present something that enough people want that they will decide to buy it themselves and there should be no problem with the campaign funding even if some choose to wait until the end.

  5. Here’s a quick kitbash with minimal paint work. Head and Torso Banshee from X-Men 3 pack. Repainted the torso green to match the arms and legs from Marvel Legends Vision. The result a banshee that reminds me of the Classic X-Men comic book run. This is the X-Team I remember most as a child growing up. With Angel coming out soon, I’m an 80’s Polaris away from completing the cover of Classic X-Men #1 in action figure form!

  6. I ,for one,am TOTALLY against this casting choice. Yes she's a great actress but Silver SURFER is a male! Yes I know ...it may be an unpopular opinion but stick to the freaking source material at least a bit! That's what made the movies possible!! Now ...."Flame on!"

  7. Ah, got it. Ozark is on my watch list. I'm still working my way through Shameless at this point. I'm sure she's a fine actress. It's just silly what they are doing here. I'm guessing since FF may be coming from another universe or maybe the Quantum Zone as many have speculated that this is just an alternate version. If not then seriously what is the point here? Other than Disney doing Disney. At least this time it's an actual distinct character that held the Power Cosmic. The just didn't do the typical Disney thing and rename Norrin Radd. Still it just makes more sense in every case to have just had her be Frankie Raye. They basically have the same costume but with different shades of shiny. I'm seriously interested in seeing how they pull it off. One thing I can be sure of is she will most likely not resemble the comic version in any way. Most likely she'll be a regular human with silver hair and full costume. Resembling Silver Sable more than Silver Surfer.

  8. Well, it's certainly a choice. I'm not sure introducing a female surfer first is the way to go. Alternate versions have more impact when they are different from what we know. I know we all know Surfer is normally male, but how many movie goers know that?

  9. Does anyone else feel like marvel Studios and Kevin Feige are just trying to check off the boxes in their casting decisions? Remember when they were talking about making the thing a female, but this movie? 🤨🤨🤨

  12. I'm almost certain the character in the SHEILD/Hydra 2 pack was meant to be Sharon. It looks like her and I must say it's a better looking head sculpt than either one of these. I just think they realized they could make a bit more money at a later date by packaging her with another set of known characters. Either way between the Quake/Maria figure and the female agents pack I think Sharon has plenty of options. But I do wish they would do an actual white suite female agent. P.S. I know it is somewhat accurate to what Sharon looked like while she was running around solo but between the collar and those funky looking running shoes does anyone else think this might have been meant for a much anticipated Colleen Wing figure and they decided to go with a Sharon figure first? I mean Colleen is only a head sculpt away and it would have been just as accurate if not more accurate to have done Sharon on the standard female mold.

  13. Man, I feel ya. I used to salivate at new Marvel Legends.....like my eyes would light up. Now, I nod my head at the really impressive ones................and I'm not nodding a lot..........and pffft at the rest. What's being offered isn't enough to overcome the price-point asked, and THAT is the buzz-kill for this line. I cherry-pick like crazy now, and wanted characters ( who are prominent in my head, like, say.......Karnak) get pushed down my want list for other characters....in other lines. ML has been going so long that it's getting merch fatigue. It needs to offer MORE, not less--to rekindle the interest and passion in it. It has very much plateaued and that's as bad as stagnation.

  14. See, my thinking follows that the more comic figures released - because of less MCU product and a higher count of figures released for the year like 2023 was - the more likely we will get deep cuts as you put it. MCU movies and D+ series are in themselves marketing for MCU figures, not even counting all the actual advertising, PR and movie tie-ins that lead up to a release. I have a strong feeling Hasbro doesn't have to worry as much about product advertising and sales, due to increased awareness and intent to purchase, when their figures are MCU based (especially if the film/series is good). In a weird way, a line that was started as a comic-based line, has partially morphed into a support for movies, television series, cartoons and video games. That was inevitable I suppose. There was a few movie based figures in the old ToyBiz line, but those were usually the peg warmers and most maligned figures by collectors. Anyway, I just feel 2024 may be our best chance to get some of those more obscure comic figures for a while. All these movie scripts, castings, and production schedules are getting back on track, so a large amount of MCU product will be headed our way over the coming years, and therefore MCU Legends figures. So the time is now for getting Marrina, Excalibur Rachel Summers, Mimic, Mr. X, Exodus, Casandra Nova, Stingray, Jack Of Hearts, Starfox, the Shroud, Gargoyle, Son Of Satan, Overmind, Swordsman, Mantis, Immortus, Graviton, Magus, Korvac, Nitro, Attuma, Maelstrom, Baron Mordo, Nightmare, Umar, Shuma Gorath, Titania, Gladiator (Melvin Potter), Death Stalker, the Owl, Bi-beast, Zzzzax, the U-Foes, the Gremlin, Moonwolf, Meteor Man, Cardiac, Stegron, Spot, Will-O-Wisp, the Melter, original Blizzard, Unicorn, Whiplash/Blacklash, Firebrand, Justin Hammer, Balder, Heimdall, Kurse, Airwalker, Tyr, Zeus, Hades, Eternity, the Living Tirbunal and all the other unreleased characters people have been hoping for on this board over the years. Heck, I'm even hoping for the Great Lakes Avengers!

  15. I was out eating with a friend last night, and of course the restaurant had the Stupor Bowl on, which of course me being the have no idea whats going on with sports human, went nutso when Deadpool 3 teaser pops up, like waaaaa, then it said see full trailer online so of course me and my buddy bust out our phones to watch it, My My I was already excited for this movie, but that was an exciting trailer, this movie better be as amazing as I think it's going to be, because my hopes are all the way high, so much to unpack from that trailer.

  18. Yeah No I really didn't have a problem with this movie, I don't care what the critics say, I enjoyed it, it was fun, and visually pleasing, I mean I am biased since I just love Paul Rudd, the internet hated this movie so I guess that's what the Razzie's are going with, but dissing MODOK is kinda a cheap shot, since he was meant to not be taken serious and was a joke, Bill Murray being hated on seems like just nonsensical he literally was in the movie for like 10 minutes, and what did Micheal Douglas do wrong here? either way whatever, I don't think this movie deserves the hate, Love & Thunder was by far worse, and the worst movie in the MCU to date.

  21. Even Frank Miller didn't have him brood as much as people think. I get sick of this idea that if a character isn't dark ALL the time they are Disneyfied or weakened. Like any joke in the MCU ruins the movie and makes it lame. Now we can debate how some jokes land, or the sheer amount of them, or timing. But some humorous moments don't negate all bad assedness.

  22. Seems that taking shots at this movie and Marvel Studios is becoming a past time....I just saw the latest Indiana Jones and it was nowhere the stinkbomb people are saying it was. And I can be pretty demanding. I hope they don't let themselves fall victim to haters.

  24. whoa back up sony, that was dookie, why does that movie feel like it was made in 2001? and at the same time, feels like it was made for the Showcase channel?, I don't think I could be less thrilled about a comic movie...like ever, this looks awful, bad acting, bad action, it felt so flat I couldn't believe it, it doesn't even seem to have a story, watching 3 minutes of this probably was enough, I could barely hang on, that was bad. Ugh Dakota Johnson can't even try to pretend shes' not made out of cardboard and paper mache. Go away Sony, nobody wants to play with you.

  25. Right. Without Zabu (and I mean a fully articulated, moving jaw etc.), as an action figure he's just a blonde, not even 3rd rate, Tarzan rip-off. The team can borrow from Guenhwyvar as a template and go from there.

  27. I actually never once said it would fail. I said based on the numbers we were all seeing it wasnt looking good and that the only way it would succeed is if there was some major boost of backers at the end which is exactly what happened. Up. until 1pm ET yesterday this campaign was not getting anywhere near enough backers to reach 10k and then steadily from 1pm to midnight the backer numbers exponentially went up without falter hour by hour I also said if there was some major boost of backers at the end that IMO it wasnt going to be from last minute people but Hasbro adding in their international backers from the vendors they work with where Pulse isnt available which is exactly what I think happened. There was no hail marry here and in fact Hasbro probably had a pretty good idea this would fund for sometime. I see much of this as marketing to keep people constantly talking about this thing and work people into a tizzy to scare them into backing more than once. As I've said, I am very happy for the people who really wanted this figure and that they will be able to add it to their collection, but I also come away feeling like their was a lot of manipulation going on here with the numbers which honestly doesn't leave a very good taste in my mouth when it comes to Hasbro, and I also think these campaigns do far more harm than good because each time we have one the more and more divisive the fandom gets.

  28. In an effort to try and entice more folks to back Giant Man, here is a look at the Classic Wasp they will be releasing at a later time that you will have to pay additional money for. THIS IS NOT being included with Giant Man.

  30. I seriously doubt it. We've seen multiple failures on the Star Wars front and yet Haslabs continue and in fact Star Wars had a successful Haslab this year. Also in fact Hasbro has had 3 successful Haslabs this year alone. I would imagine it would take consistent failed Haslabs across the board for them to stop. Now if Hasbro were smart they would stop trying to do one for every brand every year and split them up some alternating between brands each year, but even that doesnt seem likely at this point.
    2 points
  31. Very likely, but we'll never know. Not really. Also, and this wasn't your point, but I have seen it brought up here several times, so I thought it was worth addressing: For every collector who thinks this Haslab is hurt by not offering 6" figures in addition to the 24" Giant Man, there's another collector who would refuse to back this thing because he hates it when figures are "locked behind a paywall" and is glad that Hasbro hasn't gone this route. The one thing I wish they'd do, which would help (but I don't know how much) would be to post a video demonstration of how the face plates actually work. Obviously they go in from the back, but it's also a lot less obvious than a Hot Toys figure (or similar) with big blank spaces where the mouth and eye pieces plug in from the front. This shouldn't need to be said, but I'll say it anyway for clarification: Disagreements are not inherently problematic and are not automatically shut down, contrary to what you may believe. Debates are discussion, and discussion is encouraged. It's the entire purpose of this board. The problem is fighting. As long as people aren't getting nasty when they disagree with each other, and as long as it's not totally off-topic or some hot button thing like religion or some political issue, which has no place here, Marvelous News staff should have no issue with it. I hope that's clear.

  32. can I just ask, just out of pure curiousity cause like you I know it will be back, why wait until near the end? You don't get charged until then so you don't have to worry about your money being taken. So wouldn't it make more sense to back it now rather then wait?

  33. When Jae Lee took over the art, the storyline had Namor in another amnesia spell and he had a feral, shaggy beard then. Later, when wearing the "sacred armor of Atlantis" as he does in this figure, it was just the wild hair. But I can see the confusion, 'cause Lee used a lot of stylized inking and shadow (he also did some killer shots of Namorita and Namor's mom, Princess Fen....) and there are many panels where someone could think the Sub-Mariner had a beard in those shots.

  34. I'd love for them to just have a Pulse exclusive of a package of several different Skrull heads in various comic costumes that would fit recently released figures. It would be so easy for them to do. I'd buy it instantly. I've got generic skrull heads on several comic characters' bodies already, but the "extra" of a specific Iron Man Skrull head, Cap skrull head, Mar-Vell Skrull head, etc., Elektra, Spider-Woman, Black Bolt and on and on and on.... It would likely need to include some extra hands to work really well also. For this Luke specifically - maybe not the best fit since it probably wouldn't look right without a green overlay for the bare chest also - but just my opinion.

  35. Today I take a look at the new Marvel Legends West Coast Avengers Boxset from Hasbro. This set is being sold as a Amazon exclusive. The set includes figures of Silver Centurion Iron Man, Marvel’s Mockingbird, Marvel’s Tigra, Spider-Woman, and Hank Pym.

  38. That sky cycle would be even cooler if the seat had some storage capability, or if there were some tiny lights. Also some kind of clip or peg for his bow that he used to store near his leg. Good vehicle idea for Legends!

  39. Oh no!, well as I said in another thread about current Marvel Comics, yeah no shockers anymore, they just do it, and if you like it or not, whatever yer feelings are they are going to keep on doing stuff like Spider-Baby, and the Death of instert name here, She will just be resurrected and be more powerful likely, anyone who'd think they'd be just getting rid of someone like Kamala would be crazy, it's another story with a sad ending, that will end up in some triumphant conclusion. Didn't like Dr. Strange die last year? and Wolverine was dying constantly (well so many have died on and on)..not surprised by anything, but do you Marvel.

  40. I mean, we've gotten Namor in HIS classic look. I think in an inch by inch fabric comparison, Moondragon would be more covered than our favorite Prince of Atlantis haha I'm not sure where Hasbro makes the distinction. Let's be real, Moondragons original suit is ridiculously impractical BUT that is how she was drawn for a long time and I think this is where longtime fans want that version someday. I'm glad to have any Moondragon but would love to see her classic look at some point

  42. Agree; they seem to have really missed the target (no pun intended) for managing their Pulse page. Not only can all that stuff be found elsewhere, it sells out on Pulse way too fast. They could have specialty sets on there; box sets like the Marvel Monsters I've suggested many times. They could put some of these figures too many people have a hang-up about (an actual Emma Frost, Mephisto) there. Action sets like the F4 HQ, Danger Room, etc. Troop builders with fully decked-out arsenals like SHIELD (and female SHIELD) agents. Vehicles like the Sky Cycle and Punisher's van.

  43. Bill’s ‘knee pads’ were shaped a tad differently but I imagine they would make that apart of his boot mold anyway like they have done with Thor here. Or maybe it’s glued on but regardless, Bill would need all new boots so why not just go the whole 10 yds A pinless (new?) body and definitely a lighter shade of blue; better head sculpt; better boots; strap going across torso; red bow feathers; classier bow. Damn, I can’t wait! 💀 @Emnems80 Yea, Thor’s belt actually looks fine as is. If only the boots were on the same page 😒

  44. Agreed, and great fixer'up ideas btw! Jack Kirby's Sersi imo still should set the tone for how her body looks: all curves, all woman! She should be on nothing less than the Scarlet Witch body with Moonstone thighs! Yep. I've still not forgiven them for making Elektra and Mystique into malnourished twigs, lol. I really hope someone on the team is reading these threads, because the message needs to get through: NO.....MORE.....KATE BISHOP.....FREAKING..... BODIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They're Superheroes....not runway models!!! I Love you. In fact, I don't even have the words for how much I love you right now man, because that is a FANTASTIC idea to make a more 80s BW!!!! And I've got a spare Jocasta body too!!!!! Thanks for sharing your ideas bro!!!! My pleasure bro!!
