  1. As the final season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to roll out next Summer of 2020, ABC and Disney are already in talks about bringing another Marvel Adaptation of a female superhero to the network. ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke told Deadline, “I have spoken to Marvel and we are in active talks about one project in particular.” While she wouldn’t give away any details, she said the character would be “something brand new, mostly” and that the series would fit in with its strategy of female-focused superheroes. ABC developed a show last year and gave a production commitment to an untitled hourlong drama from Wonder Women writer Allan Heinberg, Marvel Television and ABC Studios. Written by Heinberg, it was about female characters with superpowers. But in classic Marvel tradition, few details were offered.
  2. Sources have informed Variety that "Crazy Rich Asians" star Gemma Chan is in talks to join Marvel's "The Eternals." Previously announced to the cast are Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek and Kumail Nanjiani. In "Captain Marvel," Chan portrayed Minn-Erva, but its unknown if she will play the same role again in "The Eternals" or if she would have a completely different role. Created by Jack Kirby in 1976, the comic book is set millions of years in the past, when the cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans to create super-powered individuals known as the Eternals, along with the villainous Deviants. The two groups battled each other throughout history. The Eternals also warred with Greek, Roman and Norse deities before leaving Earth to explore the stars. The Eternals is set to hit theaters November 6th, 2020.
  3. Deadline has confirmed that Sony Pictures has hired Andy Serkis to helm Venom 2. The first Marvel feature grossed $856.1 million worldwide with the sequel slated to hit theaters October 2020. Serkis was hired after Ruben Fleischer didn't return after directing the first installment for Sony. Kelly Marcel, one of the screenwriters on the first film, was hired to write the follow-up to showcase actor Tom Hardy and his shape-shifting CG alien symbiote.
  4. Marvel has announced that Marvel Television and Hulu are working together to bring a crossover episode into the worlds of Marvel’s Runaways and Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger later this year. “It’s so fun being able to do something that revels in the Mighty Marvel Manner! Having these young heroes crossover allows fans of both shows to see the adventure everyone has been waiting for and we’ve only hinted at,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television. The third season of Hulu series Marvel's Runaways is set to premiere on December 13th with 10 episodes. In the third season, the Runaways frantically search for their captured friends Chase Stein, Gert Yorkes, and Karolina Dean. The kids go head to head with an unstoppable enemy who has targeted Leslie — or more accurately, the child she’s carrying. Nico Minoru draws them all into a dark realm where its ruler Morgan le Fay, played by Elizabeth Hurley, is much more nefarious than anyone the kids have yet to face. The Season 2 finale of the Freeform series, Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, aired earlier this year with our main protagonists Tyrone Johnson (Cloak) and Tandy Bowen (Dagger) on a bus leaving New Orleans in hopes of helping out other parts of the country. No details on how Cloak and Dagger will cross with Runaways have yet to be revealed.

  7. Kevin Feige made a bombshell announcement at Comic-Con with a listing of new Marvel movies, which included the forthcoming Blade reboot with Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali. Many asked on social media why the change of using Ali instead of the Wesley Snipes, who played the day-walking vampire hunter in the original Blade trilogy? Well, Snipes has heard the Blade fans and has come forward with a statement that was given to ComicBook.com. “To all the DAYWALKERS losing their minds right now, chillaaxx. Although the news comes as a surprise, it’s ALL GOOD. Such is the ‘business’ of ‘entertainment!’” He continued, “Much peace to the MCU crew – always a fan. Honor and respect to the grandmaster Stan. Congratulations and Salaam to Mahershala Ali, a beautiful and talented artist whose expressions I look forward to experiencing for many years to come. Inshallah, we will someday work together. Most importantly to my loyal fans, the incredible outpouring of love is overwhelming. I am grateful for the never-ending support. So, ‘nah fret nah worry, it’s not de end of de story.’ Welcome to the Daywalker Klique.” That said, Snipes has no complaints about the change and feels as he is passing the torch to the new Blade. 12. Taika Waititi has inked a deal to write and direct a follow-up to the 2017 Thor: Ragnarok, but the fourth installment could cost Waititi Warner Bros. adaptation of Japanese manga Akira. Warner Bros. has marked May 21st, 2021 for the release of Akira and Waititi has been testing actors in a worldwide search for talent. Now with this deal to write and direct the fourth Thor movie, the two projects' production dates began to bump up against one another. Script development concerns caused Akira to push back its shooting start, and while some of those have been addressed, say sources, the dates were now too close for comfort. Several sources are stating that Warner Bros. is keeping Waititi involved for the long term and hopes to see him pick up Akira after Thor 4. Waititi helmed the Thor franchise with Ragnarok and made almost $854 million worldwide while critics’ raves put the movie at 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Chris Hemsworth is expected to reprise his career-defining role as the Asgardian god of thunder. Source: The Hollywood Reporter
