  1. Well, I don't collect action figures just coz and definitely not a completist. I am neither a rabid Marvel fan or a DC diehard, but I do know when a figure is worth my dollars be it Marvel Legend or DC Universe. So, I have not bought any recent Marvel Legend lately from the newer waves besides Mr. Fantastic and Dr. Doom. and Ares from (4 Horsemen) DC Universe. If they stand out, and catches my attention then I buy them. My latest acquisition being that 12" bundle of awesomeness, Master Chief (HALO 3) that I spotted in a Fred Meyer store. Pure joy to dsiplay in my pad.

  2. Really? I didn't know that. Spidey fights a lot of people that have him out matched. Spider-Man is the true story of the under dog. But I guess youre right it could be a better figure than what was shown but usually the stuff Hasbro puts out on SDCC looks the same when they release it for sale. He may be tall but doesn't have the mass of ML 6 Juggernaut. Looks like that Spider-Man wave Juggernaut has been doing cardio and high reps instead of heavy low rep lifting, he's a little on the skinny side it looks like.

Last time I read one of their encounters Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 1 #229, Juggernaut was threatening Madame Web and Spidey came to her rescue. He took advantage of Juggernaut's brashness and rammed a 6 wheeler gasoline rig against Cain and it didn't faze the guy. Had a building collapse on him and he didn't even blink! He finally fooled him into a construction site and got him to fall into a foundation site filled with freshly poured concrete and trapped him into the sinking quagmire much like quicksand and that's how that issue concluded.

  3. I'm a comic book aficionado before I became a collector of figures. I have read Marvel and DC books through the years. And I can say this, the BETTER product in the market will prevail. And the 6" line DEFINES the Action Figure market at this time and will not fade away even as Hasbro will try to eventually phase out the ML line. MATTEL's DC Universe is starting to level the playing field and starting to tilt the 6" market in their favor because of several FACTORS. One of them bringing a lot of fresh new characters coming off the production line. Secondly, first rate sculpts care of the Four HorseMen Studios. Third, their BAFs are starting to get bigger and better than Marvel Legends' offerings. ANd they are starting to veer away from reusing the same basic body molds from their earlier DC Superheroes line with newer sculpts They have a whole catalog of unproduced characters unlike Hasbro. And get this, . . . .they haven't gotten to the Image Universe characters yet. DC owns the license to such teams/characters from WildStorm Studios such as W.I.L.D.C.A.Ts, Gen13, Wetworks, etc. Can't wait to see Sister Zealot, the Coda, Lord Emp, Spartan, Grifter and Caitlin Fairchild in the not so distant future. For me, if the figure is a close interpretation of the print medium, then it fits my taste and I acquire the product for my shelf. I got into collecting action figures because of the overall presentation. FO Hulk did it to me two years ago at a WalMart. That figure just caught my attention out of the corner of my eye. It just jumps right at ya like straight out of the pages of the comic book and that is my standard, great sculpting and visual appeal! So Hasbro as you shift to 3 3/4" line and see these new things warm the pegs as you INCORRECTLY assess the market, MATTEL will now pick up the torch for the 6" inch and laugh at your own folly. Four HorseMen rules !

  5. ML 6 Juggernaut is perfect IMO. Wait a minute, didn't he get that BIG because of some rock - that Mystical Gem of Cytorrak ?? Didn't that transform him physically and magically into a walking, talking, Hulk -sized Monstrosity that he is now ? I used to complain about his looong simian-like arms, and huge fists, but thinking of how he is drawn and the images I get of constantly playing the videogame - XMen: Children of the Atom back in the day, he is perfect in my display. One of the better Marvel Legends and his size is sheer Awesomeness just to stand him next to Face Off Hulk and Wendigo, you won't get another one like him in this day of rising crude prices. I got him off EBay for $25 (Shipping included) and he's worth more in my collection than any other present day BAF that Hasbro is churning out. Hey, if the FO Hulk's head does not bother any of you, why would Cain Marko's ??

  6. ronin is decent, and elektra is better than the old one, but the articulation still lacks greatly. idk.....hasbro is just a crappy, anticollector company. i willing to bet that if we ALL just stopped buying marvel toys, the stats would drop greatly.(bet marvel will make hasbro get there crap together)

I disagree. If Legends stops making money it will get dropped and Hasbro will devote itself to the 3 3/4" line. If this happens, the 6" scale will be deemed as unviable and NO company will want to take the chance on it again.

Marvel won't mind as long as their characters are on toy shelves.

Sadly the only way to keep Legends alive is to continue putting up with occasionally subpar product and let the company know how to do it better and hope they listen.

I disagree that dropping 6" line will make a 3 3/4" line flourish, because in my case I already started on the DC Universe line and I know the 6" line has a future even in the alternative company. My needs can be satisfied by the other toy maker. So if Hasbro don't realize this, shame on them.

  7. yeah...but they still give you A, B, and C list characters.(aquaman's fig is 100 times better than ANY namor) they are also covering the death of supes, which calls for the mullet supes(the black doesnt count...its a chase) and eradicator isnt superman. the point is, DCUC has covered more "collecting" ground than ML. series 1 has bats, penguin, etrigian, orion, red tornado, and metamorpho. wave 2 has aquaman, black manta, supes blue/red, harley quinn, and gorilla grodd. wave 3 has green lantern, nightwing, robin, deathstroke, sinestro, and grundy. wave 4 has batman beyond, ares, wonder woman, cap. atom, cyborg, and despero. they are off to a very good start.

Give credit to Mattel and the 4 Horsemen, they got a good contract goin', a good game plan and they're just just churning out these new figures and sculpts like there's no tomorrow! And they haven't even gone to the Image Universe characters as well, and you know it is there somewhere in the horizon. When they do, BAM! We will see Sister Zealot, the Coda, Grifter, Lord Emp, Spartan, Maul and the rest of the crew and Gen 13 Caitlin Fairchild, etc.

  8. Speedo Namor needs revamp?

how i think it looks good

You must be joking my friend. Take a closer look, his face looks way worse than ML2 Namor, he's skinnier than any Captain America figure ever made and that new Black Spidey makes him look like a scrawny teenager and he needs a trainer to do some serious bench pressing there. Heck even DCUC Aquaman looks like he can mop the floor with Namor and kick sand in his face all day.

  9. As long as they have new resculpts of older obsolescent designs from pre-2004, will always accept the newer version, provided they trump previous dated version. Speedo Namor needs revamp, Jim Lee Cyclops never seems to be ever done right (been made either too skinny or as buff as a weightlifter - I never liked the head on the AXM version and his short height ), Jean Grey never had her 90's look done. Storm by D Cockrum is also a want in every display. Havok needs to be revisited minus that Bullseye deadringer look. Ben Grimm, he does need an upscale over the FFML sculpt, that one was a great sculpt but he just needs more enlargement in every part of him. And Thor they could have made a bearded version of the Giant Man series or did a Thuderstrike Variant or the Walt Simonson armoured variant with the Gauntlets of strength, or even the Heroes Reborn Thor. Iron Man Classic Armor is gonna be rereleased in the 2 pack, that be great if the scale is bigger that HR Iron Man.

  10. Are we talking which character is better? Or which toy? If the comic characters fought each other, I think DC Ares is a bit more of a strategist and a planner. I know when written correctly, the Marvel version can be strategic also, but I think the DC Ares is just craftier and would win in the end.

As far as comparing the action figures, that's an aesthetic choice. I give DC Ares the slight edge here as well, but both are fantastic figures.

DC Ares by a huge margin, case in point - $13 value, great sculpt and figure made by 4 Horsemen. Also, the pocketbook doesn't get a HUGE hit by choosing this figure over the the ML. which requires purchasing the whole wave to build a relatively small BAF.

  11. Dragon Man would be a nice addition to my collection, but not sure if I want to be forced to get unwanted characters for a new BAF. Now a new all-villains wave is enticing IF, we get a Blastarr, the Griffin, or a Super Adaptoid (the Marvel Two-In-One version) as the BAF. This way they can treat Dragon Man like Kang and just re-release him along with characters such as: Grey Gargoyle, Deathbird, Terrax, Sebastian Shaw, and Moonstone.

No, that Dragon Man is way too small. Do not rerelease, redo/resize Dragon Man to the size of Marvel Select Hulk or Pitt (Hasbro has access to that mold now). That would be more in tune to his real size. No way he is just as big as Juggernaut or the Thing (ML 2). The only thing they could probably use from that figure would probably be the head and wings and upscale everything else.

  12. And both are gods in their respective Universes', as opposed to Hercules being a Demigod. DC Ares has more mystical powers and besides being a master of combat and weaponry, also defeated Pluto so he is in effect considered the head of the Underworld and can shapeshift into other guises. Like Loki, he relies on deception and trickery to foment conflict and war among men and nations.

  13. That Ultimate Nick Fury may just be the best done ML, period. I just wish I knew what to do with him.

The figure is perfect custom for that W.I.L.D.C.A.T.S. character - Grifter by Jim Lee if you know what I mean. Only a head change is required and a mask. Use Gambit head and construct a makeshift mask and Voila ! Grifter . . .

  14. I have DC Ares and he is mainly an adversary of Wonder Woman. He's got dominion over the dark forces of the underworld in the DC Universe and is vastly superior in abilities to Marvel's Ares. Let's just say he's got the abilities of a Zeus class character and magical abilities like Loki aside from being a master of warfare. The figure itself is as big as the BAF Ares in height and rather imposing. What can I say about the sculpt ? 4 Horsemen - superior sculpt and rather excellent use of metallic blue in conjunction with regular blues to make the figure look bigger than life. And you get the figure single carded which is the main draw rather than having to buy a whole wave to acquire him.

  15. Red Hulk was the better choice to make as a BAF knowing that a lot of people didn't have a Red Hulk and would have said the FO Hulk is better than this Green Hulk and pass on this BAF. In fact, FO Hulk is still slightly bigger and and taller than Rulk right except for the arms/hands ? People would just said this head sculpt is a sillier looking than any other Green Hulk head.
