  1. Hey Marvel Heads- So I have had quite the journey the last month. I was offered a new job (editing video as always) in a town about an hour and a half away. My girlfriend and I had to scrape every penny we were getting to make the move...but we did it! I moved from a one bedroom apartment to a 3 Bed, two bath house. I finally have a room dedicated to my figures and customizing. Now that the checks are starting to roll in, I'm getting the fever again. I know that the wave is about to hit in the next couple of months and I am ready. All I can say is that I am glad to be back and show you my new set up. Here are some pics. Also, I was wondering what you guys thought of these backgrounds and who I should put in them. As you can see I'm not short on figures. I am leaving it up to you guys to design my second shelf! Thanks!
  2. I love the Punisher, however I found one on eBay not too long ago for about 14 (with shipping.) 25 is a not too bad though. You may be kicking yourself in the future for letting it go.
  3. Hey man, if you're in the Dallas/Denton or even Roanoke area there are some really great locations. You have to take a day and scout out some places. That's what I did and now I have my top places in order of greatness.
  4. Thanks for the advice and the compliment! I have learned so much in customizing it's scary. I am currently working on one of myself. I also noticed that the blue I used on the face was in fact glossy. Live and learn. I think I will redo this custom some day. Luckily I found an extra Mr. Fantastic for cheap. I am really excelling in sculpting though.
  5. Very cool. Much like the Dude's rug; it really ties the room together.
  6. The bodies are from an Angel figure (with Stan Lee from SDCC head), the other is a Spike figure that has a movie Mr. fantastic Head and a movie Doc Ock's hands. Took a little dremeling to get the hands in. Some of the Buffy figures are perfect for customizing and are in scale with the Marvel Legends. Thanks!
  7. Just sign up for a photobucket account (it's free), upload your picture, copy and paste the img code in your message. Voila! You have posted a picture.
  8. Thanks! This has actually been really helpful. I generally test the paint, but this time obviously I didn't. Luckily I can get another trench coat for wicked cheap. I think the wierdest thing was that the paint stuck to my brushes and my hands as well! This had never happened to me. I mean this stuff felt like glue almost.
  9. Hey customizers! So, I am pretty new to painting and I know that I need to use flat color for the majority of painting, but I think I used a glossy paint. I was using one of the first Model Master Acryls that I had a bought a couple of months ago. It is called classic white. Anyways, I was painting a trench coat to look like a lab coat and I noticed the paint was real sticky. I painted it yesterday and it is still sticky now! I recently Purchased some Flat Clear Acryl and was wondering if I went over the the white that is on there now, would it take the stick away and decrease the shine a bit?
  10. Wow. It's been a while since my jaw hit the floor! What kind of paints do you use?
  11. Kurt Wagner has been a friend to all his Excalibur and X-Men comrades. The beloved comedy relief from the circus world, is a lady killer and a swash-buckling addition to any team he joins. He also has been known to wear a suit on multiple occasions. "Business Class" Nightcrawler was made from a Marvel Legends Professor X (Torso, arms and legs.) The hands, feet, head and tail all come from Toy biz's X-Men Series 3 Ultimate Nightcrawler. A hole was dilled in Professor X's "you know where" for the tail. The neck peg on Xavier was too long so I cut off the top, filled Nightcrawler's head with Aves FixIt to keep the head secure and yet keep it functional. I painted the neck of Xavier with Model Master Acrylic Flat Black and Dark Grey. Just imagine what the Marvel Universe would be without the word "BAMF".
  12. They should let you feature in every issue. Great job. An inspiration to customizers every where.
  13. I wanted a Black Panther that was completely in black dress and no claws drawn. So, I made one. I used the ML Black Panther for a base. All I did was replace his claw hands/wrists with a FF movie Mr. Fantastic (The one with all of the easily removed appendages for a stretch effect.) His belt came from a Pre-Legends Wolverine. He came with a light up weapon. I painted the belt with a Model Master flat black. I think he turned out nice.
  14. This was my first sculpting / painting custom. I used all of the ML9 Nightcralwer's parts except the head. I wanted the happy blue elf I had grown to love so many years ago. I had a FF box set Mr. Fantastic laying around and noticed he had an award winning grin on his face. Keep in mind this was my first time sculpting. I sculpted the hair and elf ears then painted them. I gave the hair a thick, dark wash. I wanted his eyes to have a glowing effect so I used a flat yellow. His skin has a bit more shine than expected, but I like the slick look. His tail is the same color as his hair, which I may change in the future. Comments and tips are very welcome, as this is my first "real" custom figure.
  15. I am just now getting in to customizing figures. I had an idea while I was looking at my first sculpting attempt. Would it be possible to use sculpt-it, or any other types of preferred sculpt, to make weapons. I'm talking a mold. Take the weapon of your choice and mash it into some sculpt, then carefully remove it and place the other side of the weapon into another piece of sculpt, allow it to cure, then take more sculpt and mash it into the molds you have made.... Would this work? Has anyone done this? If not, I guess there is only one way to see...
  16. I realize this is a custom-related topic, but it seems like the custom forum is always dead. Maybe it's just me, but I like to share with the action figure threaders. All I did was replace "Destiny" Angel's head with the SDCC Stan Lee. He looks slick now. I am actually working on my first sculpting project now. I will post pics when the time is right.
  17. I love the concept! The best thing about this is that you can keep adding on to it.
