Some in progress pics... This picture shows an in progress conversion of the Alpha figure into another character. Images 1 through 4 show the addition of muscular anatomy on the left and right arm, torso, and legs. Image 5 shows the Alpha figure as is, and 6 shows the sculpting stage nearly finished. The new character is shorter, so segments of the shins, thighs, forearms and biceps were removed, and the limbs glued back together with superglue, then sculpted over. Image 7 shows the medium used, Aves Apoxie Sculpt, a two part epoxy that has about an hour working time, and self hardens to a hard plastic Image 1 shows the figure with rust red and black spray primer applied, and the base coat of the hair going on. In image 2, the flesh has been painted and another layer is being applied to the facial hair. Image 3, More layers of flesh tones are added and body hair detail is painted on. Image 4 shows a dry brush of gray applied over the black pants to bring out the wrinkles. And in image 5, the completed figure, Logan, The Wolverine.

Custom Logan, The Wolverine. Sculpted over the Alpha Blanx figure, from Go Native Toys. He was modified to be a bit shorter than the original Alpha figure. Material was removed from the shins and thighs. He now stands just under 3.5 inches. For more pics of him and others, visit gonativetoys.com

Weapon X Wolverine Figure is 3.75 inches tall. Created over the Alpha Blanx figure buck. Two heads, one with hair, the other with helmet. Chamber was scratch built.
-
Spiderman was constructed on the Blanx Alpha figure, with the only modification being the webbing added under the arms. The rest is just paint. The base was from a Spiderman metal figure from a few years back, modified a bit.

This Sentinel was constructed from scratch and is 40 inches tall and 28 inches wide. He was started with a PVC pipe skeleton, which is fully articulated. Over that the body was constructed with foam, PVC, found objects, Model parts, toy parts, and action figure accessories. The wolverine on his shoulder is from the 4 inch movie series.

Recent custom of an overdone character, but I just wanted to do one for myself! He's 3 3/4 inches tall.

Thanks. I have no problems with the Blanx body. It is 3 3/4 inches tall. Some of the GI Joe and Marvel Universe figures out now, go up to 4 1/4 inches tall. The cobra guy in the picture is getting close to 4 1/2!

Thanks for the kind words. It is done on the Alpha Blanx body. Epoxy sculpted details.

3 3/4 inch Daredevil custom...

They are 3 3/4 inches tall. The screw on the torso is a bit short to reach into the opposite part, so some of them can be popped apart. A drop of superglue in the part fixes it. And the screws are being made longer.

The other figures will be produced if the sales on Alpha are strong enough. Go to the site and vote on the next one you would like to see. And while you're there, order one! http://www.gonativetoys.com/index.php

A new company, Go Native Toys, has released "Alpha", the first in the ongoing series of customizable action figure base bodies called "Blanx." These figures are designed to be a great starting point for action figure customizers. They are also useful for modelers, sculptors, diorama builders, and even as an artists pose mannequin, due to the infinite number of poses they can achieve. This first figure is in the 1/18th or 3 3/4 inch scale, and constructed with the familiar and easily customizable O-ring body style. He is highly articulated with hinged ankles, double hinged knees, knee swivel, ball hips, pivot waist, ball shoulders, hinged elbows, elbow swivel, rotating wrist, ball neck lower, and ball neck upper. All joints are designed and sculpted to have a very high range of motion, allowing for realistic, dynamic, and extreme poses. Alpha is packaged with two extra sets of hands, one with fingers outstretched, the other in a karate chop position. He also comes with an extra "masked" head. He is cast in a neutral gray and fleshtone for ease of painting in any shade. The entire surface of the figure also has a very slight texture to better allow paint and glue to adhere. The Go Native Toys Website, www.gonativetoys.com features a gallery of custom action figures done with the Blanx bodies. Customizers will be able to submit their own custom action figures done on the Alpha body base, and as they become available, the other bodies in the Blanx series. Of all the customers figures submitted, there will be a "Featured Custom" selected periodically, which will be prominently shown on the site homepage. The creator of each of the figures selected for the featured custom will also receive a free Blanx figure! There is also a voting section where artists and customizers can vote for the next figure released in the series. Upcoming prototypes are previewed there. Future Blanx figures will all be constructed in the same manner as Alpha, allowing for exchanging of nearly all body parts, further increasing the limitless possibilities of characters that can be created!
