The Nemesis wave that's not coming out this week.
-
up...series 12. You can get the same one cheaper in WalMart that Hasbro just rereleased. Why pay $60 when you can get one for $10.99 with better colors in the reissue? That is a decent figure, I bought a couple of them myself. However, I was a bit disappointed with it, because they took away two important points of articulation - the forward to back shoulder rotation that allowed for Spider-Man to cross his arms and do a four point crouching stance, among other things. What really sucks, is that they left the joint there, but for some reason they glued it in place so it doesn't move.

What you need is a steady diet of Marvel Masterworks, Marvel Essentials and assorted Trade Paperbacks. Here are some of my recommendations: For Spider-Man I would recommend the Spider-Man Omnibus vol. 1 (around $66.00 on Amazon). It reprints every issue of Amazing Spider-Man by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. If I was stranded on a deserted island, this is the book I would want with me. You also can't go wrong with Marvel Masterworks: Spider-Man vols. 1-10, which reprint Amazing Spider-Man 1-100 + Amazing Fantasy #15. There are also dozens of excellent Spider-Man trades out there to enjoy. As for the X-Men, I would recommend Uncanny X-Men Omnibus vol. 1 which reprints the first appearance of the "All New, All Different X-Men" and about 35 other issues in a nice hardcover edition. This collection includes most of Chris Claremont and John Byrne's legendary run. If you have this book plus the "Dark Phoenix Saga" trade paperback you really have all the X-Men worth reading. (IMO) As for Wolverine I would say pick up the original Wolverine mini-series in trade paperback and the Wolverine, Wizard Masterpiece Edition, which features the "Top-10 Greatest Wolverine Stories Ever Told". An excellent read. If you like Daredevil there is really only one book you need, The Daredevil Omnibus: Frank Miller & Klaus Janson collection. This book reprints every issue of Daredevil by Frank Miller & Klaus Janson. This is arguably one of the most influential comic runs of all time, and is absolutely a MUST READ! For Avengers I would simply go with Essentials or Masterworks, or a few of the many trades available like "Under Siege", "The Korvac Saga", "The Kree, Skrull War", etc. For the Fantastic Four, I would say the FF Omnibus vol. 1 & 2 or Marvel Masterworks volumes 1-10 which reprint all of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's stories, plus Fantastic Four Visionaries: John Byrne, vols. 1-8. Nuff said. As for Iron Fist, forget "Immortal Iron Fist" and pick up "Essential Iron Fist" which reprints everyone of his original adventures. While your at pick up "Essential Powerman and Iron Fist" as well. They are each only around $15.00. You won't be sorry. Also, if you don't mind reading comics on your computer, you can't go wrong with the DVD collections "40 Years of The Amazing Spider-Man", "40 Years of The Uncanny X-Men", "44 Years of The Fantastic Four" and "40 Years of the Avengers" as well as "The Incredible Hulk Complete Comic Collection", "Iron Man Complete Comic Collection" and " Captain America Complete Comic Collection" those last two can be pretty hard to find and are rather pricey, but all the others can usually be found online for under $40.00. Each disk collection contains scans of over 500 full comic books (including ads and letters pages). That should get you started. Good luck.

I currently have 142 hero Marvel Legends figures and 76 villain Marvel Legends figures. My favorite hero figure is Superposeable/McFarlane Spider-Man (from Spider-Man Classics series 12). My favorite villain figure is the original Absorbing Man (from Hulk Classics series 2). I did a little custom work on him as well. I painted his removable Hulk arm flesh tone so that he looks like he normally does when not using his powers. (See attached pic).
-
Great custom job on the Absorbing Man figure!
-
You say that was your first post? Welcome! That means I'm not the newest member on this board anymore. Excellent.
-
You guys are correct. That is indeed a Spider-Man Classics series 12 "Superposeabe" Spider-Man. AKA McFarlane Spider-Man. Which is a common misconception, as this figure is actually based on the artwork of J. Scott Campbell. Arguably the best Spider-Man figure ever made. Which is probably why it goes for upwards of $60 on Ebay. I wish I would have bought 10 of them when they were in stores. I used to see them everywhere!! I can't believe it is that rare.

ml questionaire. -what got you started out with marvel legends? I STARTED WITH THE VERY FIRST WAVE OF SPIDER-MAN CLASSICS AND I JUST KEPT GOING RIGHT INTO MARVEL LEGENDS. MY FIRST ONES WERE ML1 CAPTAIN AMERICA AND THE GOLD VARIANT IRON MAN. -do you collect anything else? NOTHING ON THE SCALE THAT I DO MARVEL LEGENDS. I HAVE A FEW MARVEL SELECT AND DC UNIVERSE / DC DIRECT FIGS. I USED TO COLLECT THE DC ANIMATED FIGURES, BUT NOT ANYMORE. -the box, in or out? TOTALLY OUT OF THE BOX BABY. OTHERWISE, I DON'T SEE THE POINT? do you play with your figures? MY LEGENDS DEFINITELY GET A WORKOUT. I USE THEM TO CREATE MY MARVEL LEGENDS COMICS (which, by the way, you can read at MarvelLegends.net) where do you get your figures from? I TRY TO GET THEM AT THE STORE, BUT SOMETIMES I AM FORCED TO RESORT TO THE DREADED EBAY. (As I am sure most of us have at one time or another). favorite accessory/base to come with a figure? I REALLY DIG THE SECTION OF THE CLASSIC FANTASTI-CAR THAT CAME WITH (ML5) MR. FANTASTIC or LOGAN'S MOTORCYCLE. what figure (already made) is missing from your collection that you're dying to get? GIANT-MAN BAF & BLOB BAF (Problem is they cost mucho moola). If you count being made but not yet available I would have to say: NOVA or FIRST APP. DAREDEVIL. how about not made? I WOULD LOVE A SHANG-CHI OR CLASSIC WHITE TIGER ML FIG. what marvel vehicles would you be into? A LEGENDS SCALE FULL FANTASTI-CAR (maybe). playsets? HOW ABOUT A DETAILED NY CITY STREET OR ROOFTOP. bafs or accessories/bases? BAFs: STILT MAN, BLACK GOLIATH or THE LIVING MONOLITH. favorite ml group (x-men, iron man armory, marvel knights, etc.)? I'VE ALWAYS BEEN PARTIAL TO THE GOOD OLD FANTASTIC FOUR. what recent event do you think deserves a line of figures (civil war, secret invasion, etc.)? HOW ABOUT BRAND NEW DAY / NEW WAYS TO DIE (Figures: Mr. Negative, Menace, Rebound, Anti-Venom, The New Thunderbolts, etc.) what character was made that you didn't think needed to be? THE NEW VERSION OF THE VISION. WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE OLD ONE? INSTEAD THEY COULD HAVE GIVEN US SOMEONE WE DON'T ALREADY HAVE. (Like Silver Samurai for example). biggest marvel legends frustration? NOT BEING ABLE TO FIND THEM ON THE STORE SHELVES. ... and thats all folks.

Yeah, that's a pretty cool one. Most of that story was conceived by the awesomely awesome John Byrne, when he was writing and drawing Namor, The Sub-Mariner. Ahhh, I miss the good old days, when comics were still a little bit kooky, and didn't take themselves so seriously like they do today.
-
That's cool. I'll have to keep an eye out for them. However, I haven't even been able to find any Series 4 yet around here yet. I ended up having to grab a Wonder Woman and a silver Captain Atom on Ebay. I got them for a decent price, and they were the only two I wanted anyway. As far as series 5 goes, I might would pick up Black Lightning if I found him. I used to dig that character back in his early days, but I liked the costume he wore back then much better than this latest one. Plus he sported a mask with a built-in "fro" wig. Awesome stuff.

Hey guys, I just checked on Ebay at 6:00 PM EST, and there are absolutely NO NEMESIS WAVE or TWIN PACKS series 2 figs at all. So I seriously doubt that any of these will be available in any stores next week. However, there were a few auctions for DCU series 5 (Metallo) figs. Black Lighting, Amazo, Riddler, Atom and The Eradicator. So, we might be seeing those soon (or not). In case anyone cares.

Here you go... The Iron Fist who wore the red outfit wasn't really Danny Rand, it was an impostor. You see, shortly before Danny started wearing the red suit, he got radiation poisoning and he and Luke Cage travel to the mystical city of K'un L'un in search of a cure. When they arrive in K'un L'un Danny and Luke discover that the city has been leveled. Danny finds his old teacher Lei Kung (The Thunderer) and he tells Danny that he can cure himself of his radiation sickness by using the power of the Iron Fist. Eventually Danny and Luke must battle the dragon Shiatang, who was responsible for the destruction of K'un L'un. During the battle Danny seems to make a sudden and complete recovery from the radiation poisoning, but for some reason his outfit changes from GREEN to RED. Shiatang is eventually defeated and Danny and Luke return to our world. Shortly after returning home from K'un L'un, Powerman and Iron Fist meet a boy with the ability to transform into an incredibly powerful being called Captain Hero. Long-story-short, Captain Hero ends up beating Iron Fist to death in the final issue of "Powerman and Iron Fist". End of story? Not really. Enter Namor, The Sub-Mariner. Some time later, through a series of events, Namor finds himself in the city of K'un L'un where he discovers that Iron Fist is still alive and being kept in a "seed pod" in suspended animation. Namor frees Iron Fist from the pod and he eventually makes a complete recovery from his previous radiation poisoning and resumes his role as Iron Fist. So what's the deal you ask? Well, as it turns out when Powerman and Iron Fist traveled to K'un L'un, a race of plant like people called the H'ylthri captured Danny and then replaced him with an exact duplicate they had "grown". It was this duplicate who actually returned to our world with Luke Cage wearing the red costume. It was also the duplicate that was killed by the so-called "Captain Hero", who in fact turned out to be The Super Skrull in disguise. It is soon revealed that the whole "Captain Hero/Super Skrull" thing was part of a plot by Iron Fist's old enemy Master Kahn to destroy him. Whew!!! Anyway, that's the deal with the red costumed Iron Fist. So, actually the variant Iron Fist figure is not actually Iron Fist at all, but a duplicate/clone. Still, it's a cool figure with an interesting back-story behind it. (BTW, most of this stuff is chronicled in the last 20 issues or so of Powerman and Iron Fist and Namor, The Sub-Mariner 21-24.) Hope this helped you out.

When I heard that Hasbro was taking over the Legends line from ToyBiz, like many fans, I was not very optimistic. However, since Hasbro is a "toy giant" with a huge distribution network, I thought that the one positive would be that at least the figures would ship on time and be more widely available... WRONG!!! It seems to me that the shipping dates and quantities of Legends figures is just as random and inconsistent as when ToyBiz was producing them. As a collector this is very frustrating. Sometimes I almost dread it when I see figures I want start to show up online, or I hear they are becoming available in some areas, because I know that I must once again begin the long and (usually) futile search for them at my local Wally, Target, etc. I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about. That being said, I'm really looking forward to the Nemesis series. Nova and First Appearance DD have been at the top of my "most wanted" list for a couple of years now. Also, I'd love me some Hand Ninjas and Shield Agents from the next wave of Twin Packs. Here's hoping when they FINALLY do hit stores, we all get lucky and find them.

I know this is a late response to this post, but I like the topic. My dream wave would be... The Stilt Man or Black Goliath BAF series: 1) Shang-Chi (classic version) 2) The White Tiger (original) 3) The Silver Samurai 4) The Beetle (original costume) 5) Count Nefaria (super powered) 6) Ultron (Perez version) 7) Nighthawk (classic) 8) Hellcat And while were at it, how about a Wrecking Crew box set, and a Cobra and Mr. Hyde twin pack?
-
If you want to know what figures are out or coming out, just do a search for them on Ebay. I have found that everything shows up there AT LEAST 2 weeks (usually much longer) before I ever can actually find them in any store. So, if there are no Nemesis wave figs on Ebay, then I wouldn't hold my breath that you'll be finding them any time soon.

There is no formula for what you want to see made. It's really just a personal preference. As for myself, I usually want the characters that I've always liked that haven't been done yet. I'm a huge "old school" Marvel fan so, personally I prefer my Marvel Legends made in the classic versions of the characters. A couple of years ago Captain Marvel (Mar-vell), Ben Reilly Spider-Man and Union Jack were all at the top of my most-wanted list. I'm happy to say all of those figures have since been produced. Also, there are a couple of figures that have been scheduled for release that are currently on my "wish list", such as Nova, Hand Ninjas, and The Tarantula. Hopefully all of these will actually be available soon. Then there are the figs that I would love to own, but will most likely never see the light of day, such as Shang-Chi, White Tiger, Stilt Man, The Wrecking Crew and a classic version of Ultron. So you see, it's just a matter of deciding what characters you like and would like to own. Hopefully my rambling helped answer your question.

SO...WHO'S THE BEST FROM THE ARES WAVE?
Ninjak replied to pooda's topic in Marvel Legends Figure Discussion
I bought five of them and I rate them: 1. Crossbones 2. Scarlet Spider 3. Guardian 4. Human Torch 5. Kang -
Which will become more rare?
Ninjak replied to spideydj488's topic in Marvel Legends Figure Discussion
There is only one Target close to me and I was able to find a complete set of Red Hulk figs, and they have been restocked twice. There are currently 5 Black Spider-Man's, 2 Adam Warlocks, and 1 Silver Savage warming the pegs. (I ended up with 3 yellow Wolverines and 3 black Spideys myself). On the flip-side, there are about 5 WalMarts within close driving distance from me and only one of them has gotten in any Ares figs, and they were sold out in 24-hours. Luckily I had a friend looking out for me, and he picked me up the ones I wanted. (Crossbones, Scarlet Spider, Guardian, Human Torch and Kang). The other WalMarts around me have had ZIP for Ares wave. So, I would have to think that the Ares series will become rarer. But I guess it all depends on which characters prove more popular. -
Hi everybody. This is my first post. I gotta go with Face-Off Hulk. He rocks it "old school". (He could definitely use better hands though).
