I hear that, too. They should've gone with at least a handful of Golden Age characters, during that 80th anniversary. They could easily make some of those that not only haven't been released before, but would finish up some of these teams they have out there.

They DID go with one that was REALLY off the wall...Crystar....so there's hope.

And I'm not talking about an "all obscure" or all never-released wave necessarily, but maybe throw in Killraven or M-11 for the next wave, whatever it may be. Red Wolf, Firebrand. Warriors Three...that's been a criminally crossed over set. Man-Wolf, MAULER, Red Widow, Impossible Man. Be nice to see these before hasbo scrapes the bottom of that "regular" list.

Yeah, it would have been nice if the 80th. anniversary stuff actually celebrated all 80 years, not just the past 62 or so. It would have been the ideal time to do true Golden Age versions of Namor and Bucky, finally do Hammond Human Torch and possibly Toro, redo first appearance Cap, maybe give us a GA Red Skull, and throw in an oddball character or two, like The Whizzer.

Yeah, I would really like to see more oddball characters overall. I know certain characters will just always have good demand, so I understand all of the Wolverines, Iron Mans, etc., but too many of the other figures tend to be very modern, like Marvel Boy and Kid Omega, when there are so many decades worth of interesting figures/characters to be made.

Oh man Hasbro #@$%ed me again with early releasing this set. I mean it was scheduled for OCTOBER. Now it's arriving in 4 days.

I love this set and can't wait to get it in hand and the unexpected cost 2 months earlier than planned won't deter from that. But this practice of setting a date ( guesstimate I know) then surprising collectors months early has got to stop. This and the staggering of pre-orders weeks and months apart then releasing it all within days of each other is equally pointless. As literally hundred of dollars has come out of my account int he past 2 weeks.

You can count on this happening around Xmas as well. I'm not sure what Hasbro is thinking but it's staring to feel inconsiderate.

As for the set: still love it! Pym and Mockingbird are incredible additions in a summer of amazing Avengers releases.

Yeah, Hasbro's horrible inconsistencies with estimated release dates are one of multiple reasons that I pre-order less and less from them. I didn't order this set, but I pre-ordered 4 GI Joe figures (scheduled for September) and one Indiana Jones figure (scheduled for December), and they all just shipped.

  3. So close, and yet so far... the front "loincloth" piece looks really bad- it looks like a cheap, heavy felt, which won't actually "drape" well over the Sky Cycle. The black outlines of the rectangles also look really bad, largely because the rectangles on the top half of the figure don't have any kind of outline, or wash, etc., to bring out the details, so they just don't match up. They could have included an interchangeable plastic loincloth, and/or executed the fabric one well, and this would be a home run. Frustrating.

I think it’s funny people are so bent about him not having wings because he doesn’t always have them in classic appearances. But i haven’t seen anyone mention his odd use of upscaled modern Cap army pants, which have never been part of the character when he actually looked like this. Hasbro def thinks we’re pretty dumb just like when they released Silvermane on the random Ult Beetle buck that looks nothing like his body but it’s “robot-y” enough to pass, I guess. Lame

Yeah... I wish it was less lazy. The modern Cap pants, with the armored kneepads, just don't work well at all. It's a character that I've wanted, and I'll probably buy it eventually, but it is DEFINITELY a "wait for a decent discount" figure.

well thanks to Hasbro's radical distribution practice, I just got my credit card ultimately cancelled, because of being flagged for potential fraud and other issues, and in that wake now lost all of my pre-orders involved with that card, Thanks Guys!

really great way to get the monies, now you get none.

Yikes- that stinks. Sorry to hear that. I would definitely post on Hasbro's social media about it.

Going BAFless and introducing new plastic packaging is just a strange choice. It is odd to do it for a Spidey wave, given the amount of characters that could work as a BAF and the popularity of the character

They 100% know that Spidey waves tend to be some of the strongest sellers, so they think they can do this and it won't have a hugely negative impact on sales. Never mind that the previous Spidey retro waves were full of definitive versions of classic characters/costumes, and usually included a bunch of accessories/parts. As you said, too, there are plenty of characters particularly villains, that would work well as BAFs for Spidey waves. Many of those would probably never get a deluxe release, either, due to obscurity.

Hasbro really needs to fix their current distrubution system, It was a heck of a day for orders, I got shipped out Blob, Banshee, Psylocke & Gambit 3 pack, Villains Pack, Black Series Mara Jade, Classified Covergirl & Outback, my credit card company even called me to verify all of these charges happening at once, and had to spend some annoying time on the phone.

The shipping company just gave up trying to bring me these packages and told me to go get them at some pick up location

either way today I "got" Blob, Banshee 3 pack and Villains pack, I gotta go get em though in the next couple days.

and now apparently being released tomorrow is the entire Puff Adder wave, my wallet screamed in horror.

stagger these releases better Hasbro, not only are things expensive, but coming out all at once, thanks!

Yeah... Hasbro not being able to stick to pre-order dates, even a little bit, is one of the reasons that I've cut WAY back on Hasbro pre-orders. It makes it impossible to do any kind of budgeting. I collect multiple Hasbro lines, too, so shipping stuff that was supposed to arrive in February, March, and April all in December didn't really work for me. I don't know if they just mistakenly assume that everyone is going to be happy to get all of their items "early," or what. Because of that, increasing MSRPs and decreased value for the money, I've taken to mainly pre-ordering exclusive items that I think might not be available at regular price, and maybe one figure from each regular wave.

Chasm, Spider-Woman and Miles ( like every version ) are garbage IMO

And Elektra's neck seems really long under that scarf. Same with the Rose's torso.  Could just be the angles...

Hasbro is losing what made the Retro cards special. No reason the characters they weren't retro before couldn't be on retro cards now. The new design looks too busy and lacks the charm.

Yeah- Tarantula is the only one of these that ToyBiz made a figure of (and he didn't come on the animated-style card)- this whole wave is just a brazen cash grab, and, I agree, it takes away the special-ness of retro waves. Figures/costumes that were introduced in the past 20 years just seem weird on retro cards.

  9. This is a hugely underwhelming wave now- no BAF, and way too few accessories/pieces. Not even a set of open hands for Tarantula? Inexcusable. I'm glad I can at least see the figures in this packaging, but as someone who opens 99.99% of the action figures that I buy, a backer card that I'm going to throw in a box after I slice the bubble off isn't worth as much as a BAF, or actual accessories/parts. They clearly think they can do this because of Spidey's popularity. I only pre-ordered The Rose- one of the two figures that I wanted most, and he at least includes enough parts to not make me feel completely cheated. Still, I may end up canceling the pre-order, we'll see. Every other figure, I will wait and see if I can get it below retail, unless I happen to have a lot of sales that month, and see a well-painted figure or two in stores from this wave.

As has been mentioned, Hasbro's current CEO, Mr. Cocks, is TERRIBLE. He is doing irreparable damage to most of Hasbro's toy lines. He doesn't seem to realize that many people collect multiple toy lines, including non-Hasbro ones. Mattel is giving me better value with Masters of The Universe and WWE figures than Hasbro is with most of their lines- with inflation far outpacing wage increases, they're just going to price out a lot of consumers. I'm kind of dreading what the MSRPs are going to be for the Avengers 60th. Anniversary stuff, because I really want most of those.

This is def an interesting twist, possibly a testing of the waters. Hasbro said last year they would continue to use plastic on their "Retro" style packaging but only two of the figures here are on "Retro" style cardbacks. The others are on more modern ones. A possible loop-hole or testing of the waters is what this feels like. Also no BAF pieces. So possibly testing the waters of phasing those out as well.

As for minimal accessories, well so many of you kept trying to use McFarlane Toys DC figures of an example that Hasbro should follow. Now that McFarlane figures also cost $25, looks like Hasbro is giving those people their wish.

Are you sure? As far as I know, McFarlane figures are staying the same price- $19.99 for normal figures, $24.99 for figures in "Build A Figure" waves. Not that I'm a big fan of McFarlane's brittle, weirdly-articulated figures, and I still think Hasbro is a better value because of the overall better quality, I'm just wondering if, politely, maybe you didn't realize that Build A Figure waves have always been $24.99?

  11. Some really, really nice reveals. I don't have a personal connection to the very-recent Spidey-related figures, but everything is well done, especially the Avengers anniversary stuff. I'll be curious to hear MSRPs, but the products themselves are great.

I wouldn't have minded if Hasbro had actually sculpted a new piece to have Aunt May wearing a sweater instead of a blazer, but it's a minor quibble, and it's an overall awesome set. I ordered (for now) two sets, so I can have bendy tentacles for another Doc Ock, but we'll see how my finances are closer to release.

  12. From the neck down, this figure is excellent. I'm not a big fan of the head sculpt, though- besides his vacant expression, both the head itself and his hair look a bit too small. Still, this is definitely a must-buy figure, and hopefully means will get a big-collared Danny Rand soon. A new Misty Knight, after the bad head sculpt/eyes on the one we got in The Rhino wave, is probably a long shot, but would be nice.

  13. "Nice" crooked paintjob on the lips here, too. At least for me, it's bad enough that I would return it. With prices going up, I'm going to be pickier, even though quality control seems to be going down. Of course, if the boxes weren't solid, this could be prevented, and I just wouldn't buy a figure with crooked lips in the first place... Hasbro is making it less and less fun to collect. They seem to think they can't alienate hardcore collectors, but I've been collecting this line since the first ToyBiz series, and I am buying fewer and fewer figures at regular price, going down to one or two figures per wave, waiting on discounts for the rest, and many deluxe figures, multi-packs, etc..
