  1. TiC, I love the Hellcat--her mask could be a dead ringer for an Adam West Batman if you included a different lower jaw. The Super Skrull looks like a great toy. The flaming thing arm looks awesome. Guido, anything that can improve that Sabertooth figure is a winner in my book.
  2. The heads are different on the McFarlane version and the versions that came in the sets. You can either: a) get really lucky and find a wave 12 Mcfarlane Spidey cheap b) pay through the nose on the aftermarket c) get the rereleased version from last year or two years ago at a reasonable price (he's red and black), and try your hand at a custom paint job Good luck regardless. The box set versions are pretty cool in their own right.
  3. I love Edward Norton's movies, but if he's difficult to work with, I'm ok with the switch. Don Cheadle stepped in admirably as War Machine in Iron Man 2 and it didn't stop anyone from seeing that movie (or buying War Machine figures). I don't care who they cast in the parts, as long as the movie isn't crap, I'll be happy. Seriously, we're getting Iron Man, Hulk, Cap, Thor and who knows who else on the big screen. Geekdom should rejoice, not kvetch about casting.
  4. Scattered thoughts on your movie-verse idea: I'm waiting to find a decent custom of a 4 inch scale Kingpin. If you can pull of the Michael Clark Duncan version, I'll be impressed and most likely stealing the recipe :). I hated the look of the Green Goblin from Spidey 1. Hated it. I would like to see it forgotten. Focus your attention on a J.K. Simmons J.J.J. instead :). I think it's trigate that offers the movie x-costume torsos in the 4 inch scale, just in case you were not aware. There's a Boba Fett wannabe in the Star Wars line that has a head exactly like Tim Roth if you need one for a pre-abomination custom. You could do customs from the punisher movies, too, complete with awkward John Travolta villainy. I've got no suggestions for ghost rider, but if you find an acceptable Nic Cage head, you should buy a few. You could use them for Big Daddy from Kick Ass or a really pathetic version of Superman that almost ended up happening. Similarly, a Jon Favreau head could be used for Happy Hogan and Foggy. All in all, I think it's a good idea. Keep us posted on how it goes!
  5. TC, welcome to the board. Now post recipes, please :). Vulture, Ares, and Morbius in particular look great.
  6. That Doc Ock looks fantastic. You've made me regret not picking up the Spider-man line version for that headsculpt.
  7. Looks solid, but I noticed the hands behind the back. Will Joe hands fit in the gloved hand spot?
  8. PYD, you need to post individual shots of your West Coast Avengers! They all look great.
  9. Your Ghost Rider did look awesome. I also liked almost everything about CC's Patriot except for the eyes. Those Surfer eyes just seem too big. The Black Lightening head sounds like a good idea, or maybe if you painted around the outside to make them look smaller, it would seem more natural. Regardless, I'll be stealing a modified version of your recipe, so thanks :).
  10. Molten Man: MM is a straight up repainted DCIH GeoForce from the PE set. I loved this storyline from Web of Spider-man when I was a kid. Here he is as part of my not-quite-the-sinister-6
  11. I love that Darkhawk! I'm holding out hope for a Darkhawk/Sleepwalker 2pack.
  12. congats, Onyx. I bet she has waay more points of articulation than the other figures in your collection! I can't wait to see your Apocalypse when he's done cooking! Rod, I'm loving the armory and your custom Silver IM.
  13. Did Hasbro get these molds when they got the license? I know Marvel Select released the Brood/Skrull 2 pack, but I wonder what happened to everything else.
  14. That Ultron is cool, but smaller than your average ML figure. If you're not super-picky about scale, it works, imo. I know I'll probably get flogged for saying this here, but the Fantasiticar works great with MU figures, ML, not so much..
  15. Marvel characters are too distinctive to roll with Mattel's 2 base body type system. That's what makes Marvel figures a bit tougher, but that's what makes Marvel better.
  16. I did see two complete sets at two different Walmarts last week. It's nice to see they're getting out there.
  17. I'm a fan of any and all customs. Bring it on!
  18. Impressive doesn't begin to describe this figure. Great work.
  19. DCUC has a reasonable strategy, but I just can't see 6 inch figures gaining many new folks on the bandwagon. For those of us with large 6 inch collections, it's not totally crazy to spend $13 on a 6 inch figure, but for a noob, I'm sure it's unreasonable. And I think Hasbro has learned from the DCUC strategy--and is applying it in the MU line. I'm actually a fan of the move to 4 inch scale figures--they can get more characters out quickly; playsets and vehicles are a (still unrealized) possibility, and they are easier to store. I don't know, part of me wants Mattel to step up their 4 inch lines, and I want to declare deth of teh line on all 6 inch figures...but I know those things won't happen anytime soon. It'll probably be the slow bleed situation like it is now until the six inch figures lose their audience for good.
  20. I got my figures in the mail today. Chopz really went the extra mile by including all of the nonplastic packaging. I never would have found these in my area, as all the figures were picked clean everywhere (except for punishers). Thanks so much, and I hope the toy collector karma rewards you someday soon!
  21. Very nice! I hope the MU version looks that good (and matches that well).
  22. I was really frustrated with the DC pack. I already have superman, catwoman, two face, and couldn't justify their 30 dollar share of the 5 pack. That Batman, however, is awesome. They give all black Bats a single card release, and not the normal default version? aAaAAAAARGH. I would love to see five packs, but I think a better bet would be a focused wave of 2 packs. Dark Avengers seems to be what a lot of fans are clamoring for.. it could be easily done with mostly repaints, which is Hasbro's style anyway.
  23. I'm looking for blackbolt, nova, and maybe tigra. let me know how much you would want for them, por favor.
