  1. I searched the country up and down for those X-Factor versions and finally happened on a half dozen at JC Penney, of all places. Not usually my MO to wipe out a store's entire stock but I'd been a really nice guy to that point, always leaving at least one on the shelf, but I got mine that day, and at a 20 percent discount at that. Last I checked I have 16 of them. If they ever did an army builder I'd buy another 16.
  2. This is definitely the standout in this wave though it is fairly simple. Doesn't seem like it would be all that hard if Hasbro used the same basic formula to do a Man-Ape. Use the same hood with some retooling. Use the same body mold. Paint it white, add a loin cloth and some boot tassels. Done deal.
  3. I have a deep appreciation for this figure after the last one on the Liefeld-esque chested Hyperion buck version. I do also have issues with the odd shoulder joints, but it looks like they were done that way to facilitate movement for flying poses, I guess. All said and done, I will take this mold, odd shoulders and all, 1,000 times over them using that damn Sunfire buck to ruin even one more character over 6 foot tall.
  4. One of my all time favorite covers from Marc Silvestri. Coincidentally, that was most likely the last good story they ever had. Not that they haven't been used well enough since then, but this was the last arch they had that was actually "Good". That was smack dab in the middle of the Claremont/Silvestri era so that tells you how long it's been. It's been all downhill for them ever since then. They've tried to use them as Marvel wide antagonists, but they work best as X-Men villains. Standard Aliens movie type hive mind body snatchers. Again, pretty standard stuff, but when utilized properly they can be written into a good story. Of course, not by any of the current hacks Marvel has on staff, but.......I suppose with a talented crew.
  5. This thing is ridiculous. Not only does it look like a 90's Toybiz figure with some added articulation, but the guys at DS don't seem to understand that guys like Human Torch and Iceman are not clear. There are people underneath the flames and ice. They are simply covering their bodies with the material their bodies generate. Sure, there are some alternate versions of the characters where their powers evolved and their bodies turn to that material, but these ain't the versions of those characters. I swear, it's like there's three or four separate teams at DS/MS, all independent of each other and devoid of communication or data sharing. Some of them do some good, fairly accurate stuff like Beta Ray Bill, then some other group goes and does some porcelain torpedo like this. It's almost like the entire reason for this figure was to make that negator belt and ice slide and the figure was just a rushed through afterthought. If I could get those two items without the figure it'd be cool. Glad I'm not a MS fan cuz there's no consistency in quality, the detail between figures differs by vast degrees, there is zero to little scale consideration and altogether there seems to be even less R&D about who these characters actually are and how their powers are represented.
  6. The old "scarcity" perception method at it's most mediocre. I promise, this thing never went out of stock. They took it off to build up FOMO and hopefully get a boost once it went back up again. This thing will be on mark down at this same time next year. Don't fall for this. If it's up a year from now and I got the spare cash to throw at it maybe I might, but I got a lot to save up for next year so Razorback and Fly may just have to be something of an afterthought for now.
  7. As the biggest DD Superfan it pains me to say I have no need for this set. Daredevil on the Spidey buck? No thanks. How bout on the Vulcan buck? Better yet, how 'bout making a super posable Bucky Cap sized mold? Also, nothing new for Bullseye accept for the color scheme, which wasn't worth it for me. If Elektra is on the Shriek mold I'll sling $50 for it on the secondary market. Another mailed in effort from Hasbro, but what else is new? Alert me when we get DD on the Vulcan buck.
  8. Incredible figure. Immediately out of the box, no freaking chicken legs. Color, great. Face sculpt, perfect. Accessories, spot on. The ONLY thing they could have done to make it any better, and I understand material costs factor in, is additional hands with spell casting poses. A small detail but it would have been a nice extra.
  9. LOL, 3D renders, 3D renders, as far as the eye can see. Gotta love those 3D renders. They sure do paint a pretty picture. Now I'm gonna say the quiet part out loud because I know it is question one on everyone's mind. How much is the damn thing gonna cost? Cuz if this thing is gonna be anywhere near $150, without a figure and without bonus awards, I can save you a whole lotta time and effort, and money and tell you to bail out now. Yeah, there's a lot of room between $150 and $350, but without any extra incentive you're fighting an uphill battle. Bottom line: $100 to $120 for the car and effects alone might get the presses rolling, and $130 to $150 with some sort of stand in figure we might be able to throw a Ghost Rider head sculpt on is the max. So quit showing us what you can do and tell us what's gonna be the damage, cuz at the end of the day, no matter what excuses Hasbro and the brand team landed on, the biggest problem with the Haslab was the price, especially after the Sentinel and Galactus figures and all they came with. If you can't show up Hasbro with both product and price just stop wasting all our time.
  10. Amazing Yamaguchi is a strange company. Their products have intentionally non traditional articulation which allows you to get them in poses you'd never be able to get your "normal" figures into but the trade is it's very hard to get them into "regular" poses beyond just the "standing there" pose. I cut my teeth on the Venom figure, which I originally bought because Hasbro couldn't figure out a way to do a decent one. I had hell with it but I eventually did get the hang of it. It still has a place in my hear and in my display. If and when I do splurge on imports AY is the one for me.
  11. Aside from a few obligatory and customary "Disney" soapbox moments it was a good movie. It drug a little at times but only at the necessary points. Not sure who that Namor-ish character was, but I sure as hell know who he wasn't. The actor played a good part, for whatever he was supposed to be for the story. Namorita and Attuma were absolutely inconsequential to the story and could have easily blended into the background. All the hype for those two was a wasted time (and action figures). Rirl was a really weak casting choice. Totally missed the mark. Never thought there could be an actor more wooden than Captain Anointed One but leave it to Disney to find 'em. I read somewhere that Riri was designed after Skai Jackson. Makes me wonder why they just didn't cast her. She woulda had the right look and many times the personality. I'm sure Disney has a perfectly Disney reason for not pinning her down, but you can bet it's all BS. It was sad and respectful where it needed to be and though they did a decent job creating the Talokan lore and history and how it fit into the story, I gotta give scoreboard to WB/DC as the better take on an underwater empire. In the end it was better than everything on Disney+, yet not as good as Black Adam. Went back to see Black Adam again today, but it was still sold out. Black Panther was not.
  12. I think the box set version just edges this version out by a little. The colors and the extra head sculpts put it over the top. This one is great for anyone who didn't get that one and were stuck with the Madame Céline Dion version till now. Of course, I'm not gonna not get this one but my display will not change. Again, great to see a superior buck, but I'm surprised the recipe for the buck they used for the boxed set one hadn't been employed more often to this point. That buck would have taken the frustration out of so many times when they misused the Chicken Legged Wonder Kate Bishop buck. All it was was a version of the KB with beefed up, more stable thighs and when that little tweak came out I just knew the KB buck was on numbered days and we'd never have to deal with our female figs having spaghetti legs again. Little did I know those days would number over 2,000 and counting, and spaghetti is still always on the menu every time a new female figure is announced. Another misstep from the company that claims it's always on the cutting edge of finding bigger and better ways of doing things. Yeah, not really.
  13. Been a cold damn minute since I've been excited about a ML wave cuz as good as it might seem Hasbro always does something just right to screw it up. Of course this time is no different as they persist with this stupid Sunfire mold by using it for Maddrox, but I actually liked my previous version and have about a dozen, so I'm good. It's that Spiral that's getting me hyped. Not only does it seem to be on the basic model of the Moonstone buck but they got her face, color and muscle build just right. It looks like the one they did in the Target Red Hulk wave on an updated system and that's exactly what they did. It looks like they even maintained the 6 arm mechanics that made the first one so well done, and managed to keep upper torso swivel as well. Eat your heart out Doppleganger and 6X Spidey. Just.....yeah, just go have a seat in the corner and someone will be there shortly with some Kleenex and some Play-Doh. Yeah, just right there. Good. Again, Hasbro has the ability to so some awesome stuff, but not often do they have the initiative or the appreciation for the fandom to do it consistently. Gotta take the wins when you can, andIy can't wait for this one.
  14. The entire Gen-X thing was a personal low point in X-Men history for me, which eventually led to a large dropping off on readership for me but these things look really really good. As many have said, they look like manufacturer grade stuff. I follow the Woof Man on Insta and the cat is meticulous on the amount of though, work and effort he puts into his customs before he completes them. If Hasbro's design team took half the pride in their work as he does his I think there would be a lot less complaints from the fanbase. Just look at that Husk (my personal fave member). Hasbro would never even concern themselves with doing anything to show her power set. They would a simply put together some plain female body with some plain, semi-accurate pretty blond girl head sculpt, and maybe some alternate hands, but Woof incorporated some kind of indication of her powers on the figure itself, and he does it without overshadowing the figure in the effects. Top notch work.
  15. Aaaahh, now I see it. I was never a fan of West Coast Avengers or Wonder Man in particular so I had no real memory of it. Clearly this is the art the figure is based on, right down to that stupid grin. Good ol' Google, but they added the zipper for some unnecessary reason. Typical Hasbro, go overboard on some things, under perform on others, and be wrong both times. There was no need for the zipper at all. They just did it to make it an issue. Then they wanna whine when people have complaints.
  16. Hey @JayC you can actually push the upper chestictles down a bit farther and lock it in. Some people are heating it up with a hair dryer to make it easier. I just used my preferred, and least destructive, method of letting it sit on my car dash for a few hours. After softening it up just push it from the head down with your palm. I really miss your reviews but I understand it's almost a flooded market, but I'm surprised you didn't mention the use of a superior mold for Dazzler. Not only is the Mojo figure better than the single release, but the updated Daz was a pleasant surprise. After 3 tries they finally got it right. I feel like we got bamboozled into thinking this is the only way we'd get Longshot, though they never actually said that. That Wolverine was not only ridiculous but it was all but worthless. When you can make the Spider-Ham figure look good you're a useless piece of landfill. Was it worth the price? I guess that lies in the eye of the beholder. For me, that upgraded Dazzler made it a much easier pill to swallow.
  17. LOL. Who'd have thought the zipper would be such a point contention. Agreed, it looks.......strange, but it is clearly a necessary evil in regard to the articulation of the legs. Had they attached it I promise there would be a whole other group complaining about the limited movement and had they made the bottom of the jacket wider to accommodate for the movement people would be complaining that it looked like a dress. I guess in the end the opted for function over fashion. Looks goofy, but I'll take it. It's that creepy smile that's giving me the ills. And what the hell is up with those weird ayass elbow joints? Weren't the Gambit jacket joints just fine?
  18. The thing about SS is pretty much every character, except possibly Bushmaster, are all easy repaints. That's Hasbro's jam. The weirdest part is they haven't done any of the ladies, seeing how they sometimes have a hard time finding female characters to fill out a wave. As far as Wrecking Crew, I've been waiting for those updates forever. And they would add some much needed representation to Thor's villains gallery. I really did like the Epic Heroes versions but they were just to darn big. But now that they've made an effort to redo some of those older figures a Wrecking Crew revival might not be far off. The Thor and Herc bucks, with a little tooling, would be perfect. Personally, I would love a 4 pack to knock them all out at once.
  19. That Pretty Boy is excellent. It looks exactly like it should. I wonder if the used the data card from Marvel Official Handbook or it they trusted Google images again. Either way, this is a sign of what kind of work they can do when they put in a little effort. Of course they probably reuse and misuse that buck several times for any and every robotic buck basically making it less unique than it is.
  20. Love that Puff Adder and love that Caliban mold. I still maintain that Caliban figure was too large and should not have qualified as a BAF at all, but that is a good looking buck that I'm glad they got some use out of.
  21. Well, if Puff Adder is indeed the BAF that's another Serpent Society member to check off the list. It's weird how we haven't seen any female representation as they are all more or less repaint heaven, right up Hasbro's pipeline. I think it was @since83that mentioned how easy and how little work a Diamondback would have been by now. Plus we need to get our Captain America figures some sugar. Black Mamba, Asp, Black Racer, Fer de Lance, Coachwhip, none of them require any new tooling. This is a veritable repaint frenzy. You could use the Shriek buck to your little heart's desire. Hell, I bet we wouldn't mind all that much if you threw a Kate Bishop buck, or two in there at this point. You can wear those molds out, guys. Perhaps you maybe might make a little room for the newly G-Rated(ish) Moonstone buck. Fingers crossed. Also, with this sudden burst of energy by Hasbro to go back an "revisit" some of those older figures that used some of the old bucks from the Dark Days of ML, I'm hoping we can get an updated Constrictor. For it's time it was pretty good, but not only was that older Bullseye buck a bit dated, but Hasbro did something to it that made it more blocky and less detailed. It warrants a redo. Here's the tough love part. Hasbro, if and when you plan on redoing the Constrictor figure, listen now, we know you just love, love, looooooove that Sunfire buck and pretty much throw it at any character that has two legs and a Y chromosome, but this time it actually applies accurately. Constrictor would be perfectly perfect for the Sunfire buck. He is in that 5'10"/5'11" range, and he's fairly fit cuz he has to whip around those errr.......constrictors (anyone who's done the ropes at the gym knows his struggle), so he's got some muscle tone. That's all the pertinent and correct info on a silver platter. I've done all the leg work for you. I know it's a crazy concept to take accuracy into account, but hey, it's about to be a new year. Let's forget about 3 Silver Surfers, the one and only Firelord we'll ever have and even though Sasquatch is still a sore spot we can power through the pain. Let's start the year off right and get ML back on track. Whaddayasay? Now here's the great part. I'm officially offering you my research services for all and any future Marvel Legends projects. I know how busy you guys are and can't be bothered with all the effort it takes to research all the details of EVERY character you guys do, what with all the time you spend on Twitter insulting the fans, hiking prices, not doing alternate head sculpts when appropriate, feeding online personalities softball questions to ask you and all that jive. It's almost a full time job in itself, I understand. With that, I hereby propose that I will do all the research for you as far as how tall, how heavy and how fit any character should be before and even offer up my own humble suggestion for what might be the proper buck before you just feed any old mold into the machine and hit GO. I'm offering to do all the heavy lifting for you and I offer my service 100 percent FREE OF CHARGE. How's that for ya? Also, you can call me anytime, and I mean Anytime. Call me at work, call me at home, call me at the gym, call me at my daughter's dance recital, call me while I'm watching reruns of The Big Bang Theory or basically anything involving Kaley Cuoco, call me at the wee hours of the morning, call me at a funeral, I will answer, just reach out. I will whip out my handy phone/camera/computer/tracker/official ML research machine and get the info you need lickety-split, most of the time while you wait on the phone, depending on the strength of my service, of course. I know Google Search has served you well to this point, but let's be honest, sometimes they give you the wrong impression, right Omega Sentinel, Silver Surfer, Molten Man, Scorpion, Maestro, Hood and others? There are other resources out there that are pretty darn accurate and I have access to ALL of them. The interweb outside of Google is a virtual gold mine of information. I can do this and I will do this. That is my promise to you. How 'bout it?
  22. Lol. I see you working. Its like a reverse, reverse, reverse, inverse universal psychology thing. Put it out there in the universe and maybe it hears you. Put my vote on Ronan too. Lol.
  23. Puff Adder, huh? That's strange, though I'm glad they're doing some more Serpent Society. I just don't remember PA being all that large, unless they plan on doing him in his puffed up form, which I guess is the only thing that makes sense. Even so, I just don't recall him being that big and I thought his major power was acid that he spit. I dunno, maybe, I guess I've seen him somewhere around the size where maybe the Caliban mold should work. It would be good to see that mold again as it was done very well for as simple as it was. I'll get it. At least it's another new figure.
  24. As much as I like that they are going back and redoing some of those older BAF's I really don't think they'll actually redo them in BAF form. It makes more sense that they get top dollar from them by understanding how long we've been demanding them and then charging top dollar for them. Honestly, I would hope that they tackle something that hasn't been done yet, maybe like Awesome Android or maybe Lockjaw. Maybe with the momentum behind Black Panther 2 and Namor they could do Orka. Though knowing Hasbro they'd only screw it up. Memo to Hasbro, Orka is officially listed at 11 foot tall. In a 1:12 scale that you set up that would make him a minimum of 11 inches tall. It all works out if you follow the formula for the rules you set forth. On the positive side for you, he isn't quite as thick and wide as Hulk so you might save some plastic there.
