  1. Yeah being overly critical w/o offering suggestions to help him improve is pointless. Like I said over on OPP, he just needs finer tipped brushes for the fine details other than that these all look really good.
  2. I loved Wolverine vol 2 #89 when I was younger partly due to the crossover w/ Ghost Rider, and had to make Ogun. So I ordered one of the masked heads Brian had in his store I think it was Mask 3 (but I'm not sure, and it's gone now). The chest plate is the white one from my store. Then when digging for the Cobra black suited ninja I found a spare training Snake Eyes, some ninja claws, and a Wolvie head I got from him too. So I put it all together to make Wolvie in his training garb. Master Ogun training Logan San

  4. Ok this trick is SOOOOO much easier than you might think. Fill a small mug w/ straight hot, and I mean STRAIGHT HOT water, and soak the figure you're removing parts from in the water for a minute or two. Then put a small flat tip screw driver tip into the joint, and spread it until the peg comes out being VERY careful not to lose it. you can replace it w/ styrene rod from a model train shop if it does get lost, but the real pegs are nice to have. Once you have the pegs out, and contained. Just put the parts on the body you want them on, and put the pegs back in, and press them in w/ a pair of pliers. The same kind of thing applies to the RoC Scarlet arms, but there is no peg. So you just need to use an exacto knife to cut the molded peg in the elbow, and then just slide the Extremis arms onto the ball joint, and put the pin from Extremis through.
  5. If I was you, and really wanted the fur look, I'd go to thewarstore.com, and order the Green Stuff for $13+sh. If I remember right it was around $19 total. I got mine over a year ago, and still have about half of it. You just need to mix some up, and roll it out really thin, and then press it on, and texture it like I did while working on my DC new 52 Aquaman (still need to finish him) grated Arthur is scaled not furred, but it's the same process. This is how much green stuff you get for that price:
  6. CR, for fur sculpting tips ask Brymstone his Techno Minotaur was awesome. Clam, I think he broke the shoulder plate off. From what he said about a round head instead of the arrow head pin he thought was in there. My guess is that he soaked it hot water, and tried to pop the arm out of the chest, but being the wrong kind of shoulder joint for that it broke off.
  7. Looks good. As for the shoulders you've really got to study your figures before trying to pop them apart. Usually movie figs are solid rubbery chested (the new Avengers ones being an exception), but almost all MU figs have the hard hollow plastic 2 half chests that have to be split VERY carefully. Just look for a seam, and if you find one soak the figure in hot water, and start scoring the seam w/ either an exacto knife, or a heavy utility knife (believe me these things are great for this job, just don't cut yourself). Once you get all the way in where your knife blade can go keep doing that all the way around soaking the chest in hot water occasionally to keep it more pliable. Once you've split the seam take a pocket knife blade, or butter knife, put it in the seam, and give it a good twist. The chest should crack wide open.
  8. Well I just got the reply as to my inquiry about certain parts, and the answer was no so here are what the kits will look like minus the Hulk head: Dooms Day: Hulk: Kilowog:
  9. He never listed Kilowog though I did send it, and the Hands to him. So I'll be listing them. I have a Minotaur head that needs a few minor touch ups I'll be working on perfecting, and then casting:
  10. Yeah mt Hulk is going to be legendary compared to any of the official MU Hulks. I like the version in the first pic better. May I have the formula you used? I think i know but wanna be for certain... Wave 2 Hulk chest, and arms Avengers 3 pack Hulk neck, lower torso, thighs, knees Thanos upper calves modified Wave 2 Hulk lower calves, and feet w/ a custom cast set of ankle rocker joints I made using bits from the shoulders of an old Thanos custom I made from Rulk, and the nib from an elbow, or something. Then cast as one piece. & CR I think you're right about what makes the extenders look off on my modified Hulk I'm going to mold all of the lower half parts in about a week or so. I just need to finish sculpting the calve halves to match up, and get some more rubber. I keep running out of that stuff. Once I mold the parts I'll be putting it in my store in a new category I'll be calling custom kits. The ones I'm working on right now are Hulk, and Dooms Day. I have one for Kilowog from Juggy too, but that one's done, and all ready for molding. There are some parts that I'm going to have to get permission to cast, and sell as part of the kits. If my friend doesn't give permission then I'll be sending the buyers his way for the other parts since I got them from him. Dooms Day (I've sent Brian a pm about the thigh extenders, and head. I WILL NOT copy them unless he gives me the go ahead, and IF he does I'll only sell them as part of the kit), Hulk (You'll need to either modify the original head, or get the head from Brian), and Kilowog (I sculpted the head, and hands, though I've considered adding to the gauntlets to look more like he had in the new GL animated movies):
  11. Yeah mt Hulk is going to be legendary compared to any of the official MU Hulks.
  12. I need to do a little bit of sculpting to the calves both upper, and lower to match them up better, but you get the idea. Here he is w/ the thigh extenders I got from Brian. Though I think they make him a little too tall.
  13. Just added to my store Vortious' Custom Accessories (link is in my sig) : black large trench coat: white large trench coat: Coming soon: A Hulk upgrade kit to make the original MU Hulk even better than the W18 Hulk (I just need to modify the upper calves): The instructions for this will come w/ it so you can pop the torso, and switch out the abdomen, and the legs to give your W2, Secret Wars, and even your red Hulk all of the articulation of the new Hulk, and then some
  14. Thanks bro. Rodimus. would you consider casting commander rogers accessories/belts in white? would be cool to add those to customs to make them shield agents. I do have those so I might give it a go after I remold the large trench coat.
  15. Neither one of those have the right musculature. Here's the Marvel Legends version of him Here's my custom MU version of him I'd suggest to use a 25th Anniversary Firefly head on an MU body. I used the Moonknight body w/ the 25th Firefly head, and a cast of the MU Blade coat which I'm hoping to have in my store this weekend. Would be sooner, but I've got to work tonight, and tomorrow. However there is also the new white suit Ironfist, and the Future Foundation Reed Richards that would work just as well.
  16. Those are some good looking X-force sets. Where is that trench coat from?
  17. Yeah I also added the coats by themselves to the store for $7.50, and ones w/ bullet holes for $6.50. So you have lots of options if you want one. If not I guess that character that you're working on that should have a trench coat doesn't need one all that much. In the next couple weeks I'm going to be adding some capes, and some other really cool things as well.
  18. The Moon Knight is a no go. This coat won't fit on that body. Trust me I tried, and it ripped. I will be listing a white version of the MU Blade coat like I did for my Fantomex, but I need to do a little more R&D on this coat to make sure it is perfect before I put it into the store. My Fantomex's coat developed an odd oily film (likely due to over use of the toner. I added too much black so I had to add a ton of white to lighten it). Though I think I've discovered the reason so I'm going to try again later this evening, and if it works right I'll have the large white, and large black coats into the store in the next few days. This style of coat will fit the Future Foundation Reed Richards though. If you guys have any questions about the products just send me a PM either here or on OPP (Vortious), or email me @ rodimusvts@yahoo.com
  19. Lol! Im not back quite yet but after a pep talk from Onyx I'll be back soon. BTW great job Rod, Im highly impressed. I definitely want to try some trench coats. Thanks bro. It's great to hear you're doing a bit better, and I can't wait 'till your fully back. Just click the Vortious' Custom Accessories link in my sig it'll take you to the store. After the question of the price for the coat I looked on ebay to see what the price of the figure that originally came w/ this main coat piece is, there were 12 listed the lowest was $8.99+sh, and the highest U.S. listing was $30.20+sh, but you can only get the one figure from each seller at those prices, and you'll have a bunch of useless DCUIH parts left over. Then if you want sleeved arms you've got to settle for the DCUIH style arms, and break the figure open to get them into the body. I did decide to lower the price to $9 though I'm still only going to offer white, and black. For a leathery looking brown coat try dry brushing brown over the black coat. For a khaki looking coat try dry brushing brown, or tan over the white coat.
  20. Thanks DR. They are a very similar consistency to the Hasbro capes. They are nice, and flexible Here's what it looks like on Comm. Rogers
  21. Don't forget to call Sears. Yeah that's on the back of my rubble back drop. I honestly have no idea why I needed the Sears number anymore. I wrote it on there like a year or so ago.
  22. Yep I figured that if you put a coat on your figure you'd want the full coat look to include the sleeves. The larger coat like I put on my Fantomex will also come in black, and white, but currently I don't have sleeved arms for that size. So it'll be like how Blade's arms are. The current coat set in the store will fit the Black Spidey buck, and the JL Cyke buck, and any other smaller ones like the Joes. The larger one will fit all of your larger bodied figs from the old DD/ Moonknight mold like I used for my Fantomex, to the old Punisher/ Blade, to the Wrecking crew size bodies. This is the closest I could get to khaki, but dry brushing tan over the white coat would look better: The coats are a bit harder to cast than most other things, and the mixture for the sleeves uses 2 different resins to simulate the plastic that Hasbro uses for the arms.
  23. Announcing Vortious' custom accessories. http://vortiouscustomaccessories.ecrater.com/ I've been keeping this under my hat for a few weeks, but you guys now have a place to get some trench coats, and chest plates for your customs. Right now I only have a few items in stock, but I have several more coming very soon. earth-X Cap: Serpent styled chest plates available in black, and white: trench coat sets which include not only the coat, but also the sleeved arms:
  24. Hasbro still hasn't gotten around to him so I picked up another Moonknight the other day to make him. I need to repaint my extra Archangel, and get another Psylocke, and Nightcrawler to paint X-force style. recipe: Head: 25th Firefly body: MU Moonknight coat: custom cast straps: MU Cyclops
