Went to TRU in Schaumburg today and picked up the three new ML 2 packs non variants and the Spidey and friends 3 pack. Kinda of an expensive haul today. The were fully stocked with MU figures but no sign of Wave 11. They had a TON of Red Hulks, Juggys and Regular Hulks.

Found the new comic packs at TRU this morning. There were quite a few but the paint apps looked like garbage! I picked up wolvie/cap and sentry/spidey with DECENT paint apps. I'm kinda pissed.

I had to make a quick run to Target tonight to get some prune juice for my son. Poor kid has a stomach ache. I walked over to the toys isle and didn't see anything new. Still had a bunch of Spideys and Ironmans. No new 2packs either. I did spot a Carnage so I picked him up for trade. If anyone needs Carnage pm me.

Finally got a hold of an SLR! Now I can take some decent pictures. Here's my Iron Cap with the new camera. Then cropped... and then cropped some more... Now I just need to clear off my desk so I can set up my backdrop and do some photoshoots.

Went to TRU on Western in Chicago this morning. I saw some guy with the entire Wave 11 in his cart and some other guy with a Carnage. Nothing worth mentioning left on the pegs. As I was walking out I asked an employee if he had anything left in the stock room and he pulled out one more MU box... contents... one more Wave 11 set. I picked up the set in hopes to trade here possibly for a NYCC Archangel. If not I will return them.

I use Testors acrylic paints in the little jars. Mainly, I use those because I had an entire display of them when I owned my comic store, and I still have a ton left. I ran out of Testors black, though, so I've been using a combination of DecoArt Black Noir acrylic and a plain old Sharpie. For detail work, like on chest emblems and so forth, I just started using a fine tip Sharpie. I don't airbrush anymore, but I used to have a few Paasche airbrushes years ago. In a lot of cases, I prefer the stroke of a regular brush, but that's kind of just an easy excuse. Really, I got tired of cleaning out the airbrushes all the time. Then there's the noise of the compressor, the counter-intuitive operation of the tool... I don't think I'll ever go back, but there are rare occasions where I imagine that certain tasks might be better served with an airbrush. Then I promptly smack myself across the face in order to remember what a pain it all was. ADDED: Incidentally, if anyone needs any Testors paint for their customs, I will happily trade some of my surplus for MU figures! Thanks for the input. I am starting to feel the same way towards my airbrush. It's becoming more of a pain/chore and less enjoyable. The last few customs I have painted have been by hand and I am liking the results. I still have a lot to learn but I guess that is what makes every custom enjoyable.

I went to TRU in Niles IL today and picked up an Iron Man / Maria Hill 2pack for 13bux! I was surprised to see this on sale.

Thanks! The damage to the shield was created by using a drill. I just took various drill bit sizes and started drilling at a slow speed. Just enough to create an indent and not a hole. As for the scratches on the edge, I used an angled metal file. Once I was satisfied with the way it looked I just painted the marks with silver acrylic. Then cleared the entire shield.

Here's another quick custom. I really need to get my SLR, my crappy phone cam doesn't do this figure justice. My Vibranium Armor custom. Just an Extremis repaint. Base coat of chrome silver, then clear blue and clear red applied. I also mangled up Cap's Shield.

Yep! Real simple recipe. Coat from DCU Commissioner Gordon, arms from Ghost Rider and Tamiya Red Brown acrylic hand-brushed.

So I guess it must be my lucky day!! Here's my 2nd haul story for today. After picking up the entire Wave 11 set this morning I go to work and just realize its going to be a long day before I can even open them up. Immediately after work I run home, post a pic of my haul, take a shower, throw the kid and the lady in the car and head out to a family party in Arlington Height IL. Had a few good laughs and some even better food then decide to head home around 10pm. Before I hop back on the highway to Chicago I ask my gf if she minds if I run into Meijer really quick.... she says fine. I walk to the toy isle and its a complete mess. Empty pegs of MU. As I was about to turn around I spot a sealed brown box with a purple stripe that reads "Hasbro Action Figures Marvel Universe Classics". I pick it up and ask the nearest stock boy if I could go through it. He opens it up and this is what I find: Vision Jean Grey Warpath Sunfire Wolverine (unmasked 1st head sculpt) Wolverine (black and silver suit) Electro I was expecting to walk out of there empty-handed! Late night haul.... score!!! However, I am officially broke! Today I bought 14 figures and a 2 pack. I'm pretty sure I exceeded my MU budget for the remainder of the year. Check your Meijers if you can guys!

Didn't have too much time this week to work on any of my custom projects but I needed to do something to hold me over. Here's a pic of a quick fix to my customizing needs...

Here is the pic as promised. I think I'll put Iron Man 2020 up for trade as well. IMO he's not that impressive.
