  1. what figures do you suggest using to make Barney Barton AKA Trickshot? I'm having trouble finding one with one covered arm..... also what to use for his "skirt"... and his mock turtleneck.... and head.... hrmm... I thought of using POC Duke but it feels kinda boring... and then the new greatest battles comic pack Daredevil for the body but... how do you swap out one arm without breaking it?
  2. to all of you who use aves fixit sculpt to sculpt heads/hair, how do you keep it from sticking to your hands/gloves/tools? it cures well but I'm having a hard time sculpting with it due to the stickiness. Also wondering if there are any good tutorials online on sculpting hair?
  3. I bought a SDCC Zarana figure and I want to use the head for a Songbird custom. I need to remove her makeup (eyeshadow and lip gloss). What is the best way to go about this? Does anyone know if Nail Polish Remover would work or would it turn the figure clear? It was an expensive purchase so I really wanna get it right.. image is from generalsjoes.com
  4. thanks, mate. I put off doing Fixer for a while cuz I was terrified of sculpting his headset and had no idea what pieces to cobble together for his gloves and shoulder pads... then it all kinda fell together. I'm currently unsure how I will do Songbird and Mach V but maybe this is a sign that they will fall together too... ;) Ghost still ranks as the hardest and most rewarding custom I've attempted due to his odd helmet and skinny body.
  5. but but but it looks right side up in the preview! grrrrr.....
  6. Geez my photos always end up sideways... what am I doing wrong?
  7. Really proud of this one.... Fixer from Thunderbolts (I am a thunderbolts fanatic) based off Kev Walker's character design. Next up is Boomerang (based on Declan Shalvey's design) and then Mach V and Songbird if someone ever casts the recent Zarana head... then I can tweak her hair to look like the electric bolt from recent issues. Also working on a Zemo in his black uniform from the current Captain America run.
  8. Your Ghost is great! I''d love to see photos of the other Thunderbolt customs you mentioned! Also, checkin out ebay for a Man-Thing now :)
  9. For Scourge I used a Serpentor head from the 25th anniversary GI Joe line, and a Shadow Tracker mask from the Pursuit of Cobra Joe line. You can't see it, but I made the strap from just some spare plastic. If I had my druthers about me, I would have made it removable and given him the badass Nuke head, but I wasn't sure how to give him the android look so I copped out. One thing I have to do is repaint the black on the mask as it was more of a dark gray green in the comics. Ghost head is cobbled together from a half dozen helmets and heads. Moonstone is a Penelope Cruz head from Pirates of the Caribbean with Ms. Marvel hair. Thunderbolts is my favorite book too :) I am currently working on Paladin but having trouble with the head. Parts for Fixer and Mach V are being compiled. Fixer just will require a lot of sculpting which intimidates me but I know it will have a big payoff. Oh man, and then Ant-Man... And the current Thunderbolts Shocker.. Argh. So much to do...
  10. I go about it a few different ways depending on my mood and whether it is a full moon or not. Sometimes I will use a push pin or super thin brush and just go for broke and outline an already painted white eye. Often though, I will just paint black over the entire eye and then add a slightly smaller oval of white on top of that to give the appearance of an outline. In Zemo's case, I painted a black eye, then a white eye on top, then touched it up with a pin or brush. That said, I am a really lazy and careless painter. I am sure there is a better way to go about this but I refuse to educate myself on the matter. Glad you enjoyed my work!
  11. yeah... sorry everything is sideways.... Just tilt your head to the side and it looks perfect.
  12. Onyx just sent me the Baron Zemo head he made. I love it!!!! I opted to go with the more subdued color for the mask like he has in the animated cartoon right now and, mostly due to parts, gave him the outfit he had on the counter earth story of Thunderbolts. I always thought it was a good mix of classic and bad ass. I also included my new Scourge (Nuke), Black Widow II, and revised Crossbones.
  13. OK, don't kill me. This is my new hairless kitten. We named him Zemo do to the resemblance. :)
  14. thanks! I love Thunderbolts. Zemo should be easy but I wanna make him juuuust right. fixer is gonna be fun... i am gonna have a lot of super glue on my hands by the end of the week. songbird is the one I am most looking forward to but that head... it's gotta be just right. I promised myself I wouldn't cave and go the easy route with long hair. Mach-5... maybe a hammer drone with a cylon minimate head?
  15. Hmm I made the head by fitting together bits and pieces of a bunch of helmets. I think it was: the back and top of Matt Trakker's Helmet for the front Tusken Raider spikes for the eyes then a gi joe Grunt helmet for the back a Boba Fett Helmet for the back and bottom a Ms Marvel head for the ball joint and some other little nubbins from all over
  16. I need a head that looks like a spiky haired Kat Jennings for songbird!
  17. working on Thunderbolts right now. First up are Moonstone, Crossbones and Ghost. Trying to find the right head for Songbird.... Kev Walker draws her with fish lips and scowl and I need a head that has ears and room to sculpt the spiky hair. I tried using a Agent Helix hair on a head but wasn't feelin it. Apologies for my impatient paint work!
  18. trying my hand at Kev Walker's look for these characters. Working on Fixer and Songbird now.... Finished these others tonight! Ghost Crossbones Moonstone I hated Songbird's pixie haircut at first but now that Walker is growing it out I miss it. Trying my darndest to find a head that will work for her.... And then onto Zemo.. I know, he ain't in the current line up, but you can't do Thunderbolts without Zemo.
  19. I have a black widow figure I want to paint a silvery white to make Moonstone... Is there a way to do this that wont rub off every time I move a joint? can the whole figure be dyed instead of painting? not sure how to go about this (or which paint to use even)... any help would be appreciated!
