this is the Cap I am trying to figure out how to make.. but I really don't want to repaint him.

which parts did you repaint, if any?

Similar to what NeroZero did on the last page I took the light-up base cap and the new Cap. Kept the old Cap's torso and upper arms, used the new Cap's lower arms, legs, neck and head. The only real modification I made was chopping off the old Cap's neck and attaching the new Cap's so he can still look up and down. If you're careful with that part, the blues are close enough that you don't need to paint. Although I repainted everything cause I'm crazy.

Been working on this guy for a few weeks. My first commission! Each of the 48 spikes were sculpted individually which was a giant pain in the ass. But I think it worked out pretty well.

that is super clean looking! what do you use to sculpt? I have only tried miliput, and it SUUUUCKS

Aves Apoxie sculpt. It takes some getting used to but once you learns it's pros and cons it's pretty great.

And yeah, his design....it's not bad but it's totallyearly 90's to the XTREEEME but before Leifeld got a hold of the 90's and plastered it with pouches and angry lines.

  3. I haven't had time to work on anything major for while now, but I have been doing minor repaints and touchups here and there.

Gambit has a new coat and a couple cards, repainted Wolverines's belt to break up the monotony of yellow, did a little height extension on Magneto's waste (might be too subtle), and repainted dark Phoenix.

Updated Fantastic Four. Added flames to Johnny, a "4" buckle for Ben, simple head swap for Reed, and Sue has new hair (didn't like it short) and I slapped it on the body of my original custom.

Finally have a modern Cap worthy of the title Super Soldier. Basically a mixture of previous releases, plus the head of the newest one.

2 questions. Which Cap has the elastic shield? And where is Invisible woman's hair from?

    Really great btw.

  4. Can't say enough about Amazon Prime. Used my wife's account to order 2x Rhino, Mysterio, Cap and Elektra on Wedneday at noon and Thursday morning at 10 AM they were on my desk. Not even 24 hours. Cancelled BBTS.

It's amazing what a business can do when they offer new products at a reasonable price. I hope Amazon continues to get MU and all the toyshopspricehikers.com learn a thing or two.

  5. Grabbed the SuperHero Showdown starter pack on Amazon for a whopping $12 +shipping. It arrived last night. I was actually really surprised at the level of detail in the sculpts. I mainly got it for the Spidey but the Thing is great too. I kinda think it's better than the MU version. BUT, in typical SHS fashion, the Spidey broke within the first 2 min. I was twisting his forearm when it broke off. So I spent an hour digging out the peg and whittling a new one from a sharpie clip. My first custom!!...ok maybe not.

  6. It seems like the "go to" paints for customs are the Tamiya or Testors brands. Has anybody tried Createx Acrylics or other airbrush paints? I've used them in the past on Gundam models and vinyl and resin model kits with great results. Most people like to water down their paints to create a great finish but air brush paints come at a thinner consistancy (so they can pass through the air brush) so they give the same smooth finish. My only worry for action figures would be the paint rub but with a decent sealer they should work well.

  7. Also, not really a true acquisition, but over the course of a week I have purchased 2 Gladiators and 2 first appearance Wolverine figures from Target in an effort to trigger the system into ordering a new case to my store. The store now only has 3 Gladiator figures on the pegs.

I will just return these figures later during the holiday season and hope some parent will buy them then.

I recently bought 3 Pslylockes, 2 Storms, and 3 Gladiators in hopes that they would get a new case in. And surprisingly it worked! Wave 18 was there the next week (although I was late and it was already picked through. I returned them to a less convenient Target the following week. Hasbro and retailers suck so much at it we collectors have to do some distribution of our own.
