  1. 3 Targets, 3 Walmarts, and 1 TRU and not a single MU to show for it!!! Most stores didn't have anything at all, including TRU which had rewards ending today. I ended up getting the Star Wars pack with Darth Revan, which I told the kids we'd probably never get because it's too expensive. But I figured $15 expiring today, plus another $7 that doesn't expire for another month but why not combine them and bring down that $42 pack to a reasonable price? Got another $6 that doesn't start until tomorrow, but who knows if TRU will have anything before it's over. Well, it's not all bad. I found Tygus with the Tiger Flyer. It's pretty cool. The kids were excited. Especially my 4yo who was with me. She also talked me into the clearanced 8" classic Tygra which I don't care for myself. Kept her quiet through 6 hours of shopping though.lol Finally broke down and got my 6" Mumm-Ra since it was the only one we were missing after getting Cheetara earlier this week. And lastly, got the new 4" Mumm-Ra and another new Panthro because I decided to keep the last one MOC. ;o) Anyone else finding the Tygus pack yet? I only saw it at two stores. One at the first and actually two at the second place I found it. Seems short packed in with more of wave one stuff or something. EDIT: Oh, and snatched up a PR Samurai Octozord for a fellow board member who's getting me Heimdall and Shocker. So not a total loss of a day Marvel-wise. Just have to wait for that international shipping on the trade.....
  2. Payday!!! Anyone else going shopping today? Wish me luck. I wanna bring home wave 17 and a couple Thundercats while I'm at it. Well, I guess if I'm throwing out some wishes I might as well add Heimdall, Mandarin, another Sif (cuz who couldn't use more of the ladies, right?) King Laufey, King Loki,.....hmmmm maybe I should save some of my paycheck for bills.....
  3. Just cut the heck out of my finger the other day with the exacto knife. I was only 4 feet from the kitchen sink, but it must have hit an artery because the kitchen was covered in blood in the time it took me to quickly rush to the sink. It was all over the sink, the floor, the counter-top, but missed my glass of water and all of my figures that were on the counter by just a few inches. I had to squeeze the dang thing for about an hour before it would stop long enough to wrap it! And yes, the worst part was that "dang, that was so freaking stupid!" realization. It's amazing how feeling like an idiot can be worse than feeling like you're losing a quart of blood through an inch long cut in your finger.lol When it finally stopped and I got a glimpse inside I couldn't believe how deep it was. It's kind of at an angle so it went deeper than it is long yet without going to the bone. really weird. I'm lucky I didn't go back "up" with it and completely remove that section of flesh.
  4. Awesome! Thanks. I've been trying to figure out what things I need to get next as I get drawn more and more into this addiction. So far, I've only done some simple part swaps and repaints; but more and more I've been wanting to try some molding, carving, shaping, etc. Now, I've got a shopping list for this weekend. Well, in addition to MU, Joe's, and Thundercats figures that is.
  5. Dang! I'd like all three please.lol That second one would look killer if you could do the lighter parts with a glow in the dark paint or something and put it under a black light. All way beyond my current level of skills.
  6. Well, as always my Walmart is still not carrying any MU stuff. They have the same 5 Thor figs that have been there for 5 or 6 months, the same 7 IM figs that have been there for about 3 months, and a few Spideys that barely turn over. No Joes either. worst Wally ever. Till today... when they stocked the new Thundercats stuff. I picked up the 6" Cheetara, and the 4" Claudus and Panthro w/metal arms. Left Mumm-Ra and Lion-O till I get paid again - shouldn't be too hard to find later. Still waiting for something good to add to my BBTS order before shipping my Dreadnoks/Marauders sets. Anybody noticed anything good lately?lol
  7. value is completely dependent upon the individual. If you sold an item for $150, is it worth that much? Some say, "obviously, because someone bought it at that price"; however, to someone else, that $150 was worth more than the item otherwise they would have kept the item instead. All sales are dependent upon one person valuing something more than the other person - with the exception of cases where we sell things "at cost" to friends. But that is becasue we value friendship more than the extra money we could possibly make from a htf figure. "normal" sales are based upon a difference in valuation. So stating any figure's value unequivocably is really pointless and an oxymoron of sorts. "It's worth X because it sold for that." "Well, someone was willing to give it up so they obviously thought the money was more valuable than the figure" capiche?
  8. holy rusted metal, Batman! That's pretty cool. Have you ever just made a vehicle from scratch? It looks like you could use anything that rolls and make your own chasis and body. Is that just flat plastic sheeting material that you used?
  9. Good haul huh? I know I'm crazy for trading a $50 figure for a $20 figure, but I'm trading it for a Sif. Hey at least I hold to my prinicples and don't turn it over on Ebay for 6 or 7 times what I paid for it.
  10. In the spirit of "pics or it didn't happen" (which I usually ignore) and to show the condition for those who are interested, here's the Blade figure that I got just this past week at a Target. Yes, a 2 year old figure, in awesome condition with not even dust on it, and at retail. go figure.
  11. LOL, someone called one of the mods a "rookie". That's too funny. Sorry, MikeC123, but THAT was a "rookie" mistake. heh, no harm, no foul. I'm sure Clam's secure in his status, so you don't have to worry about retribution. (but that is dang funny) I'm not sure how I feel about the card art. It's a little cartoonish, which means they're probably hoping to get more kids involved in the line this time around. Perhaps playing off the success of the Avengers cartoon? I'm okay with it, but I can see where lots of adult collectors might be a little turned off by it. heck, mine aren't going to be staying in the package this time around anyway. I've been opening all my BAF's for the last couple years or so. Might have to get an extra Commander Rogers though...... perhaps another GR too.....
  12. Okay, so I haven't actually read any of the Future Foundation stories yet; however, I can't help but think that Doom looks really cool in white. So I had to do my own. Here's my Future Foundation team so far. Can't wait to add a Dragon Man and some others some time. I figured if I had the couple riding the Tron car then Doom could ride the Tron bike. Doesn't seem to comfortable though.lol
  13. I actually managed to snag an 8" Destroyer from the Thor movie. It was at TRU and the only one out of almost 20 of those 8" Thor's. I thought I was hallucinating at first.lol Not much on articulation, but dang he's big and cool looking.
  14. is that for real? just open mine a couple of days ago. wow, it's less than $9 to ship it? what a deal then! lol
  15. okay, so one of the Targets that we tried last night had veryy little MU stuff on the pegs but the scanner said more in back. So my wife and I found someone who said they would go check. He came back with ONE figure. I'm thinking, "do they really keep just one figure in the back instead of putting it on the pegs when they put the rest of that box out? Probably not." I think they just "smell" a collector and don't want to help, which is stupid. But here's the kicker.....It's a freaking Blade figure!!! I thought maybe Blade is part of some revision wave or something, but this has the original SHIELD logo, the Fury Files card inside and the Nick Fury mail-away offer. That means it's actually from that original wave with Blade. I couldn't believe the one figure he brought out for me was a flipping Blade. I'm hoping maybe we can get some of the stuff we've been trying to get without any success. Heimdall, Sif, Shocker, King Laufey, King Loki, ...you know, the stuff that seems just about impossible.lol
  16. Went to TRU, Target and Walmart with no luck. TRU had ZERO MU figures period. There were maybe 10 Thor, 5 Cap, and 15 IM but nothing the least bit exciting. The TRU's around here suck pretty hard. Unfortunately it seems that Targets and Walmarts are beginning to follow suit. Those vaunted Target endcaps people are talking about? Nothing here so far. They had 10 Gladiators and 1 AIM soldier with the scanner saying none in back too. Walmart had about 12 Rogers figures and 18 or so Namors with 2 or 3 Nighthawk and one X23. Is this really the state of things now? I sure hope that the post-clearance inventory improves, otherwise I'll have to resort to A)buying everything online B)driving 40 miles or more one way or C) actually giving up on a hobby that's been tons of fun (no really there's ton's of plastic in my back room!)
  17. diggin' that Goliath. I've thought it would be nice to do that or Giant Man on a regular size buck, but it requires more skill than I possess at the moment. Great job on those customs. lol, nice Zoolander too. that's a tragic yet funny look-alike.
  18. Those Stan Winston figures are great, I still have a set of those MOC with the Sabyr ACTUALLY signed by Winston when he was at TRU at the launch. He was a Great guy and a a genius in FX. Great Haul congrats..... oh, wow. That would have been awesome to meet him even if just for an autograph. I'm sure that would go for a pretty penny on Ebay - not that I'd sell it if it were me.lol
  19. Here's another part of my Symbiote Squad. All Spider-Man villains given extra symbiot powers too. This particular addition is Morbius the Living Vampire. I thought he'd be a cool looking villain if given some of the Venom Symbiot. I'm still working on his more humanoid version (much smaller too). With the symbiote he actually has the power to look like a bat - althought it would be a rather large one. Here he is so far. I have a smaller version of that same head so I can make his humanoid shape with that same face.
  20. didn't see the specific picture you were referring to either. but there were LOTS of others that were interesting too. almost makes me want to log in to FB for the first time in a month.lol I know it's not MU related, but I just got a shipment with the entire Realm of the Claw series today. Only $100 for the entire set MOC! I'm mainly stoked because I've been missing one figure and he goes for $50 by himself. (plus I've wanted a set to keep MOC since I decided to start opening mine a few years ago) They go extremely well with the Seventh Kingdom stuff from four horsemen. (which I'm looking to complete if anyone is trying to empty their toy room) As for MU news..... there isn't any in my neck of the woods. Drove 20 miles one way yesterday to hit a TRU hoping to have the luck that others have had lately. They were so empty I almost cried. I mean, I know the reason. Most retailers try to end the year with extremely low inventory to make their "turns" look better to investors. But I hoped I'd see something. Went to Target and Walmart after that and didn't find anything Marvel related at either of those. Walmart did have alot of Star Wars figures on clearance for $3.60 and box sets were all 50% off too. Since my second oldest just started collecting these a few months ago there were lots of them we didn't have yet. Spent almost $100 there and only about $25 or so wasn't SW related! Still averaged around $3.35 a figure so I guess that's the way to catch up. ...or troop build really. btw, that was one of the 2 Walmarts "near" me that had the Avengers gift set before Christmas. There were none there last night, so they have all sold either as presents or in the after Christmas clearance. Probably 10 - 15 sets gone in a week and a half.
  21. Nice detail work there on DP. lol, nope, Cap won't find any hard liquor around here. My 8 year old was playing with it and had him upside down in the thing for some weird reason, and I just flipped him around real quick without paying much attention to positioning. I figured anything was better than upside down. It's great the kids like having it. I can keep making crappy customs that they'll like and eventually I'll get good at it. By which point maybe they'll be old enough to understand leaving the custom jobs alone!
  22. They're making their way across the country! yeah! I'm hoping they hit here exactly 5 minutes before I got to TRU on Friday.lol Well, maybe an hour before as long as there's enough of them to survive the collectors, kids, and scalpers that get there before me. ;o) ...and people finding Sif too?! sheesh, it seems like everything is found while I'm stuck at home with a beat-down vehicle and very little money. can't complain though. overall we've been extremely blessed in the toy department here.
  23. and the front view: The striping on the front was probably the best I did. The rest had little flubs that I just kept making worse when I tried to fix them. Oh, I did add some GI Joe missles and bombs because A) I liked them better and B) I have no idea where I put the originals when I took them off to paint the stupid thing.lol
  24. Here's the (rather poorly painted) custom Quinjet I made from a generic $3 Walmart jet. EDIT: I just realized my daughter's rather colorful picture of Dr King is displayed in the background. Now her work is forever immortalized on the internet!lol (hey, she was only 5, so a purple pink and green Dr King made sense)
