  1. Aww why thank you! I'm going to try to get as much information as I can out to you customizers so EVERYONE has the ability to make customs like mine. Share the wealth ya know?

If you really want to show appreciation, go play Marvel vs Capcom (1 or 2) at your local arcade, pick Jin as your lead fighter, and learn how to play him! SUPPORT JIN! *chants*

  2. Hehe, it's Jin with an "n" but you were close!

I dunno, I've been using my 2 large Camel Hair brushes for drybrushing for the last 8 years or so and they haven't shown much wear. Perhaps it's the quality of the brush. I found that the cheaper bristle brushes (like those craft brushes) didn't apply the paint nearly as good as my camel hair ones. I also don't grind the bristles against the surface too hard, so that may be a factor too. I have worn out the cheaper brushes in the past tho.

When you say "fixatives" do you mean "clear sealer"? Because I'm against using any kind of sealer on a finished action figure. (thanks for mentioning that tho, because I have to ammend that to my page!) When you use good paints and apply a good wash, the paint won't rub off ever. If you're talking about using the sealer to protect against physical damage such as scuffing, there's factors to both sides.

    1. Without a sealer applied, paint can be marred or scratched, but you can always paint over it again.

    2. With a sealer applied, paint chips off in sections when struck because the sealer essentially melts the paint when sprayed on, making it more like a hard shell. The only exception to this is brush-on acrylic gloss.

Thanks for bringing these points up, I've ammended my page with them!

  3. Hmmm, sculpting for what tho? If you're talking about just a normal statue I'd go with the Original Super Sculpty plain white that comes in like the 5 pound block. It doesn't grab fingerprints as easy, and bakes really well. You can try some of that pre-mixed pottery-like-clay that air-dries too, I hear it's good and you can use water on it to smooth out stuff while sculpting.

If you're talking about something to sculpt to make Action Figure parts, you're kinda out of luck. I haven't found anything to make jointed parts out of, short of making wax sculptures-turning them into molds-and casting resin parts.

  4. Woah dude, that's a cool set-up!! I just grin and bear it as chunks and pieces go flying out around my desk in a random fashion. That's what my handy dustbuster is for! I probably shouldn't be breathing in the dust particles, but I heard brain damage makes you more creative, so I'll let you all know how that turns out.

  5. Thanks Mandalorian, didn't know exactly where to put this post! How come we don't have a CCG section here? I figure Magic cards and such fall into the "toy" realm, especially with Heroclix and MageKnight taking over.

Hey there Gambit! I use Adobe Photoshop for my cards, and have special TTFonts set up with symbols, numbers, tap symbols, and Magic Card Text that give the card the official appearance.

Yes, Jin can be killed heheh. It says he cannot be the target of "spells", but not effects. A Royal Assassin could kill him. Or you could just block him with a Wall of Mist or something all day. I made him almost invincible because of his neat ability in the MvC2 Arcade Game where when you almost kill him, he powers up and gives you the ability to beat the hell out of your opponent.

  6. Jin Saotome is actually a character from the video game "Cyberbots", an import game by apcom that featured Streetfighter-style fighting but with giant mecha. I use to play Marvel vs Capcom (the first one) back in the Flordia arcades, and enter tournaments. Well Capcom puy Jin Saotome into the game, and nobody played his character because he was so hard to use. I ended up mastering him, and won a bunch of Tourneys using Jin as my main fighter which at the time was totally unheard of. (Everyone used Strider and Captasin Commando) I got nicknamed "Jin" because I always played him, and that's what my friends call me to this day.

The creepy thing is I have brown hair, brown eyes, tall athletic build, and look just like Jin's character if I add a little gell to my hair! It was only natural for me to take on his persona after all that, and it works for me, hehe. I just wish I had a 3-story Mecha I could stop around with sometimes....

  7. Couldn't quite figure out where to put this, or if any of you even play Magic the Gathering. But since everyone knows me from this particular forums section, I figure I'd show you all. Afterall, I did make a bunch of Marvel character Magic Cards (you gotta read the quote on my Spiderman card!)

Check them out here http://www.angelfire.com/mech/jinsaotome/C.../CustomMTG.html or you can also find the link on my web site's main page. Enjoy! Oh, feel free to move this post to wherever it bets fits if you want!

  8. My favorite flesh paints have to be from the new Testors Fantasy Arcylic line (pick them up at testors.com) or the Citadel paints Bronze Flesh and Elf Flesh. You may want to mix tones (white or brown) in the flesh to get the exact gi-joe tone however. I just know my Testors flesh paints look REALLY good when I apply them.
