  1. I'm really looking forward to MU as well. I've been very turned off by what Hasbro did with ML(especially the increase in price). Marvel Universe is going to be a HUGE success if Hasbro keeps it fresh, limits the repaints and does not waste time with movie figures.
  2. I can see at least 75 to 100 figures (single, multi packs, exclusives, repiants, etc) by Christmas 2009 alone. This is the deal!!!
  3. I can see Walmart really pushing for this line.. They are one of the biggest buyers of GI Joe and I can see them doing the same with MU.
  4. From the news section... <Hasbro is also considering larger figures in the 3 3/4 scale, like Sentinels and Galactus.> I'm sold!!!!!!!
  5. ...with Hasbro announcing recently that they have to raise prices on their action figures (because of the cost of oil/plastic) and with the announcement of the new MU line (can't believe over 35 figures for the first half of 2009 alone!) does this mean the end of ML? From a corporate stand point I wonder if the bean counters at Hasbro have figured out that they can make more money with MU then ML (I wonder how much King Hulk cost to make?). I for one will continue to support ML till the bitter end but this new line looks good! Plus I picked this up at the news section... <Hasbro is also considering larger figures in the 3 3/4 scale, like Sentinels and Galactus>> How freaking cool would a true scale Sentinel be!!!
  6. Looks like the story about a 3 3/4" GI Joe type line is true! It is to be called Marvel Legends Universe (?) and it will be issued this year!!! Has anyone else heard this yet??
  7. You may want to re-read that answer. They did not say they have "no plans" they said they have "no news." That's a huge difference, and the dividing line between an actual "denial" and a "we're neither confirming or denying." It's exactly the kind of answer Hasbro gives when they are planning something but they don't want to reveal it yet. In other words, like many of their carefully-worded and/or misleading answers in Q&A's for other lines (particularly Star Wars), it sounds a whole lot like "We have no news...until we decide we want to have news." I think that it would make great sense for Hasbro. With the cost of oil (needed for plastic) and the sky high price point for ML (has to be loseing sales for them) it is a no brainer. Also, a new Marvel 3 3/4" line will be a great starting point for new collectors. I have a few friends who feel that ML is just to big (and old) of a line to collect. That want to get into something that is new and fresh.
  8. Yeah, but sadly the first wave(s) of Mattel's 3 3/4" line look like badly painted, underarticulated doo doo. Hasbro probably took one look at them and said "We don't even need to put out a competitive product...that stuff's so crappy no one's going to buy it anyhow." (I kid, but still...Hasbro probably find the effort all-but-laughable, even for a company that doesn't normally make 3 3/4" figures. ...I could see a really cool Hasbro 3 3/4" line that blows away Mattel. The JLA Animated line is nothing great but still sells well enough (to kids and adults).
  9. I think that the ML will be aimed at adult collectors and the 3 3/4" aimed at kids. I don't know how a kid can afford a ML now. Way to much money! Can not believe how much they (ML) have gone up in price over the last 3 years. About a Ant-Man and Wasp... I think the ML versions are pretty good already.
  10. I had high hopes for the Showdown figures when I first heard about them.... Once I saw how bad they were made it just turned me off! Great idea just poorly executed. Hasbro is the king of the 3 3/4" scale... If anyone can make a decent Marvel line it will be them.
  11. i am not a fan of this size because i dont think marvel has so many know ships as star wars. so for me it would be pointless but if there are some spideys involved then i hope we see some pics. if the line exists. Spider-man probable would be the natural beginning for just such a line. He is the face of Marvel and almost always sells well.
  12. ..I don't believe them. I can remember a few GI Joe and Star Wars announcements that Hasbro denied up till the day of the announcements. I think that they are going to follow Mattel's (DC Super Heroes) lead in issuing a cheaper 3 3/4" Marvel Super Hero line. It only makes sense... They can also support it with play sets, vehicles and the like (how about a F4 car or Avengers Jet?). Can you see the box sets that they could do! Just look at some of the incredible stuff they are doing with SW and GI Joe. For a price of 2 ML you couldget a whole team!
  13. ...do you think we might get a glimpse of what Hasbro has planned for this rumored line at SDCC?
  14. ...The Toy Biz figures are just in another class (when compared to ML figures by Hasbro). I'm still a loyal collector/fan of ML and will buy what ever Hasbro puts out but there is no comparison. Hasbro seems to being using a lower (waxy) grade of plastic where Toy Biz used a more rigid plastic (more expensive?). I'm also not happy with the way Hasbro details their figures (lack of). Toy Biz was and could be sloppy with their paint application but it was still more realistic then what Hasbro is doing.
  15. ...ok, yes I was one of those who thought that Toy Biz was a crappy company! I used to #$#@# and moan about what they did (and did not do) with Marvel Legends. I used to complain about sloppy painting, figures that were not to scale (with other ML figures) and poor (waste of) choices for ML figures. Don't even get me started on the whole damn "chase" concept that Toy Biz seemed to do just to torment (me) collectors! With that said (and after spending a year with Hasbro) I want to beg Toy Biz for forgiveness! I never knew how lucky I had it for all those years!! I never knew that 2001 -2005 truly was the golden age for Marvel figure collectors (just think of what Toy Biz issued under their Spiderman, F4, Hulk and X-men banners). We will never see some of those figures again.... If Toy Biz ever comes back with the Marvel license I promise never to complain again!
  16. ...this past week I was checking Ebay and was surprised to see that the recent Toy Biz released Dragon Man sells for well over $100 (even loose!). What is the deal with this figure? I remember hearing that they (along with a ton of ML) were being dumped at discount stores. Did this ever happen? Is it truly a holy grail figure?
  17. ..just was visiting Hasbro.com and was looking at the Hulk Movie line. I saw the Hulk Buster 3 3/4" action figures that look like reused GI Joe figures. Could this be a clue to what Hasbro might do with ML in 2008? If so they look pretty good for a 3 3/4" figure.
  18. ..it would make sense. With the cost of oil a smaller scale ML line would probable save Hasbro (and us) some money. It happened in the 1970s when they shrunk GI Joe down from 12" to 8". Some things that might be better with a smaller scale... Scale (always bothered me that some ML figures were not to scale) Playsets (would love some for display) Price ($10 a pop is way to much these days for a action figure!). Interesting to see what Hasbro has planned.
