  1. No. Pictorial and anecdotal evidence so far has been all Aurora. I have not heard of a Northstar sighting yet.
  2. I got that Blade body from Jason1551, who said he got it for the purpose of finishing it off but never got around to it. He probably got it from a China seller, though. I didn't ask him.
  3. Nice surfer pose! Nice shelving unit, too. I replaced Ms. Marvel's head with the open mask version of Dark Ms. Marvel: I also had a body-only Blade - I added a Cade Skywalker cape (painted the interior red) and added his sword and throwing star from Vortious.
  4. Tamiya makes a nice durable clear paint ("clear X-22 Item 81022"). I'll bet you could mix sand with it and brush it on in loooong stokes to look like flowing wind. Use a relatively large brush and do it in several steps, avoiding overlapping the stokes until the last layer. (X-22 is my durable secret sealer weapon, when needed. It won't help joints, but on something like Vision's belt - above - that has potential to move and rub against stuff, it is great. Kinda glossy, but dullcote fixes that.) That is Camie Loneozner from the Star Wars line. And thanks.
  5. Thanks for the kind words, both of you. When I attempted sand, I painted a base coat of sand-colored paint, and then while it was still good and wet I sprinkled actual sand on it thoroughly. (I used purchased diorama sand to get more uniform and cleaner particles - the finest/smallest size they had.) Then I painted over that with another thin layer of sand-colored paint, and then sealed with dullcote. It's solid as a rock, too.
  6. I also went Golden Age with the 1940's Vision: And finally a head swap to update Kitty Pryde. I never really liked her stock head.
  7. I'm coming here less, but I long ago subscribed to this thread. So while I disliked the move, it really hasn't affected me that much. But there is noticeably less traffic IMO. Catching up on some of my recent customs: First appearance Spider-Man - really all I did was add the armpit webs to the black Spidey variant and give him a criminal to carry. First appearance of the Hulk. Added the Classic Avengers Hulk head (repainted gray) to the recent gray Hulk body, and added a ripped shirt from a Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) Zombie. With those, I created a "first appearance" display.
  8. I've been debating on picking one up. Does it fit in fine with regular MU figures? Ehh not so much. He is way too short. That sucks. I wanted the build-a-figure GG from the Legands line, but he's probably way too big. I can post a pic if you want a size comparison shot, but he is a full head shorter than a standard MU figure. I would love to see a size comparison shot, please!
  9. I stalked Dark Ms. Marvel on eBay for a long time, and found 2 for a good price at about the same time. It was totally worth using one for Black Cat. I debated long and hard which Black Cat to do. I almost went with the white glove look.
  10. Recipe: Light up base Black widow body, Jubilee legs, Dark Ms. Marvel head, and Aurora hair. Sculpt for all the fur. Schleich cat. Necklace from Captain Britain (2-pack original look). Whip from Microman Catwoman. Add two teaspooons of sexy and stir. Simmer at low heat until moist.
  11. Not really - Hasbro's is basically her Ultimates costume. I can keep my custom on my Avengers shelf (I rend towards classic costumes with them anyway) and can put the upcoming figure with my Ultimates. Win-win! She doesn't look bad there...
  12. In trying to do my part to help the community, I decided to complete my long WIP Wasp. That way, Hasbro will go ahead and release their version - it's like carrying an umbrella so it won't rain. First, some boring backstory: When I first began customizing some 15 months ago, I was purposely over-ambitious. I figured that if I didn't challenge myself, my skills would never develop. Wasp was in that first group of customs I started. (And most of the first ones are languishing.) As I look back with a better sense of how to customize, I am revisiting those old ideas. I recently did that with Wasp. About 10 days ago I had an idea for a much easier recipe - less ambitious, but still a nice Wasp. I ordered a couple of figures for parts, and one they got here I finished in about two days. Granted, I already had the head painted (it was a custom cast unpainted Maria Hill to start with). But everything else came together quickly. My old formula called for Tinkerbell wings and a more custom costume. This version is: Maria Hill head; Avengers Assemble Black Widow torso, upper arms, and leg stubs; Baroness lower arms with the gloves removed; MU Patriot gloves; Jubilee thighs, knees, and upper calf; Elektra lower calf and feet; MU Nova belt (I had used the belt buckle on Odin); a segment of the LUB Black Widow belt (one circle) as a belt buckle; Star Wars Sun Fac wings; and the goggles (optional) are from G.I. Joe Renegades Ripcord. The only painting is on the head , the red trim on her belt buckle, and some minor color alteration of the wings. So I show Wasp to my wife, who has been following my progress for 15 months, and all she can say is, "Yeah, it looks like Maria Hill with wings." Thanks, babe. So I added the goggles to disguise the fact that it is Maria Hill's head, AND I'm working on an alternate head. (Wife: "That ones a *little* better." - Now you know my harshest critic.) Wasp on my computer monitor. Life size! Telling off Hank: Without the goggles (De goggles! They do nothink!): The wings can fold down or be removed if accurate display with other full-sized Avengers is desired. Okay, Hasbro, make my work moot!
  13. Save the cheerleader, save the world! (Yes, it is kinda fuzzy.) Looks good, though!
  14. Wow! I thought that was the DCU Kalibak build-a-figure head for sure! Nice sculpt work - had me fooled!
  15. Awesome. I, too am planning to use an Abomination to make Ulik. I was going to use the Blastaar head as a base, but Kalibak works nicely, too. I'll have to consider that. Great work, great sculpting.
  16. I like Heimdell and Volstagg best. I may straight up steal the Colossus-as-base idea! Volstagg's head is spot on. Good sculpting work all the way around!
  17. Maybe X-23's head? Her mask does not appear to be sculpted, so it can be removed with acetone. X-23's hair could be extended with the Cammy braids, perhaps. With some sculpting.
  18. The Street Fighter Cammy figure seems to be a popular place to get the braids. Beyond that, I'm not sure.
  19. You do indeed give good head. Wait, that came out wrong....
