  1. A detail I hadn't noticed until now is how the upper part of his tunic has been sculpted to almost match the fabric loincloth. This will certainly ease any hesitation on how the soft goods will affect the overall aesthetics. I'm actually pretty excited for this set, the colors on Hawkeye will go nicely with all the other classic Avengers versions we've been getting lately. Plus, cmon... we're getting his Sky Cycle. I had considered getting a few more cycles but really no other Avenger is as closely associated with that vehicle as 'Hawk so one will do..... for now. Next: Black Knights Atomic Steed please
  2. JR SR, thanks for all the amazing memories from my early comic fandom. Rest in Peace
  3. Clearly a lot of people have the same mindset. As do I. But... the ice base seems to have lost something between its first reveal and its release. If I find it on a deep discount it is tempting As for the figure, he appears to be inspired by Hasbro’s dark days of Legends.. this is hideous. He seems to be actively melting in some of those pics. I can't believe the same company released that amazing Super Skrull mere months ago.. Select's articulation is all over the board.
  4. Monica is just amazing. Fans have waited a looooong time to get this version. Another awesome classic Avenger, well done Hasbro. Dr. Doom is a fun throwback and is honestly the best thing Hasbro could have done to get me to buy another Doom figure. I seriously can't come up with another version. While obviously Secret Wars specific, I know many of us here have been building that story's lineups nearly all our collecting careers so this will fit in nicely
  5. One if the best sets Hasbro has ever done. And the bearded head is a nice touch to include it here since it shoukd have been included way back with the 80th Anniversary figure. This bearded head is going right on the Ragnarok body for a 2nd era specific Thor. But to be able to also knock out the Masterson look is just phenomenal. This was a very distinctive suit that set him apart from the true Thor and adds yet another member to the underrated 90s team.
  6. "LEGACY" is Genis Vell correct? Dang forgot how ridiculous his orginal costume was. Didn't they do something very similar when they first introduced Legacy? This sounds very familiar... However, Ron Lim's art was the reason I started reading Surfer to begin with. It was fantastically dynamic and unlike anything I had ever seen before. His Surfer looked shiny amd reflective. Anything i had seen previously made him look... feature-less? I also stopped reading once he left the book. So it's safe to say Lim's rendition is my definitive Silver Surfer.
  7. The price was a tough pill to swallow. I love the set but can't see their justification on the end price. Admittedly I pre-ordered as soon as I able because the Tobey figure hit all the right nostalgia feels. But the longer we waited to get these in hand the longer the missing unmasked heads bugged me. Hasbro didn't include them because reasons but that decision made the set go from one of the greatest ever to very nice. Especially if unmasked heads are included later on, there is literally no reason to not include them. Bah it is what it is. There was a time when everything MCU I bought two of. But baffling decisions like this, as well as cost, windowless packaging etc has made me cut back significantly. All this being said, the Tobey and Andrew versions are amazing figures. The Tom one is improved due to the paint apps. Too bad they didn't sneak his final tech-less suit from the end into this set.
  8. Ah the MCUs Multiverse.. where heroes with actors under contract all look the same but heroes from franchises past all look like different people. The true Madness... Got to say at least the Infinty Saga seemed to have a point. By the time the Multiverse Saga wraps I'll be burnt out on alternate takes on heroes. It was fun at first, the Spidey variants being the best but it has long since ran its course. Be kinda funny if The Flash ends up in the MCU briefly in his upcoming movie. The Illuminati just creates a mess for us MCU completists. If the FF movie recast Krasinski or none of the others make another appearance then do we really need action figures of that group? Ugh.. This Wanda is like the recent Killmonger and Hulk. New? Technically yes but not huge improvements over the previous. This figure especially needed an evil alternate head to really nail her villainous look, as she stands, you can pop her into any costume appropriate film and you'd never know she is being pissy.. I'll grab her but I'm VERY underwhelmed with Hasbro's MCU offerings of late
  9. My fear is that if unmasked heads are included in a NWH wave that they WONT fit the 3 pack bodies. Much the way IVE HEARD that the He Who Remains head doesn't fit the Quantumania Kang head without some customizing in a baffling choice on Hasbro’s part. Cany anyone confirm? My Kang has been on order from Amazon for some time and the release date is still months off. Or just as worse the unmasked heads will be to large for the bodies ala Charlie Cox's Daredevil, Downey's Endgame Tony, and the first Tom Holland Spidey from the Infinity War 2 pack. I've said it before but it is mind blowing that Hasbro hasn't standardized the way their heads connect to their bodies so any head fits any body.
  10. I grabbed that ROM, though his "armor" appears to be silver pants, folds and all, it is still a fun 3 3/4" figure. So at least at that scale, ROM is alive and well in my Marvel Universe collection. In the mid to late 80s I sampled the Micronaughts comic and they weren't for me. Back then you could get every comic Marvel put out with .65 or .75 cent cover prices..seems like I jumped on for a brief run around the time they participated in that Secret Wars II crossover..
  11. Bah another repaint... geez the MCU Exclusive have been underwhelming recently. Killmonger, Gladiator Hulk.. now Wanda...shoot even the recent Spider-Man 3 pack has Tom's Spidey that we already have once or twice.. Ugh and the rumored Best Of MCU is obviously all repaints.. I'm ok with improving a figure but this is a LOT of repaints in a relatively short time. Thankfully Hasbro has been killing it with their comic based exclusives, just really getting anxious for truly NEW MCU content ( though I happily state the Tobey and Andrew Spideys are amazing)
  12. I have the classic Ms. Marvel ( I guess technically she is going by War Bird here) from the 3 pack and she holds up wonderfully. But I won't turn down another shot at this version or here classic classic red suit. Toybiz also did a remarkable job on their version from the Giant-Man wave. While her body mold and articulation don't hold up, her face sculpt was fantastic, really one of their best ever.
  13. Only if they are all new MCU figures. The last 2 we got from Amazon were a cartoon colored version of Killmonger and a repaint of Gladiator Hulk with a new 2nd head. Nice I guess but not neccessary at all. I'm pulling for ANYONE new. Hank, Jan, Secretary Ross, .. anyone to expand the MCU collection, not another repaint
  14. Hasbro's, and Selects for that matter, attempt on the spinning hammers major problem is that it's way to heavy for ANY figure to hold in one hand. It's especially troublesome if the pose you are going for is above the head. It throws the figures balance off or pulls the arm down due to how heavy it is. I wonder if the MAFEX version is lighter? It certainly looks nicer with the lighter paint apps
  15. Odd idea for an Avengers comic but whatever. They've been around for a long time, nothing wrong with shaking it up a bit with a spin off book. However, my prediction is 12 issues and out
  16. My Spider-Man NWH 3 pack arrived today. Super fast processing and shipping. Man would I have loved this set in window packaging. May have even bought two. EDIT: after opening the figs are all amazing. Tobey's colors are less bright in person. Now I'd like to see them tackle Andrew's ASM1 suit.i hated it at the time but I think I need that version next. I reiterate the no unmasked heads is a MAJOR bummer but I'm 1000% percent confident we will see those down the road Also missed opportunity to not have a pointing hand for each version. THAT meme is charming as hell
  17. I was wondering when they'd get around to these types of crossovers...when DC and Darhorse(?)) did them they were fun but forgettable stories. Think they did Aliens too So judging by the art, this story may take place shortly after Wolverine escapes the Weapon X facility? So maybe a dazed and confused Wolverine gets his butt handed to him at first? Then comes back all feral and exacts bloody revenge? Could be fun Sure hope they don't crossover with say Squirell Girl. Wolverine makes sense, maybe Punisher.. they could sneak in a Conan battle maybe...
  18. I know this is another start to another era of the Avengers but I'd love Hasbro to knock out some of these costumes. In truth, we have or will be getting a lot of these with the bearded head on the Masterson Thor, the upcoming Hawkeye, I swear Cap had his Photon shield here but he will be using it soon enough.. not a huge fan of this version of Wanda but she almost never gets anything but her classic suit, this Quicksilver would be amazing... I may be in the minority but it would be nice to get alternate classic suits every now and again.
  19. Is purple eyes the only difference between Starks armor and the sentient suit? I may do the same as you. Even with my limited skills as a painter can't mess that up !
  20. I agree, no complaints at all. Both. Cap and IM have quite a few suits I'd still like to get. It's nice Hasbro is exceeding hopes with suits fans really want. And for me, the Busiek/ Perez era Heroes Return team coincided with a return to buying monthlies and the book immediately hooked me all over again. I've fond memories of that armor especially
  21. Funny how Iron Man and Cap have been parts of other characters waves lately while getting us much requested versions. While both IM and Cap certainly fit in the Puff Adder wave the versions we got in there were very well done and updated. The same for this Marvel's wave. I know, "another Cap and Iron Man" but again, a much requested suit and an much needed updated figure. Both Cap and Iron Man could headline waves but it has been nice to fill out important suits in other characters waves
  22. Wonder why the changed it? Not that it matters, secondary titles won't make or break the film.
  23. Wow, this looks like a great wave. I'm sure there are some key MCU figures that didn't make the cut but I can't complain about the comic characters taking their place. The BAF is another story but, hey, free figure so.... I was excited when I saw HR Iron Man but then thought he looked a little plain.. so googled to remind me and yep, he is pretty accurate. It seemed his armor was more intricate in the comics but I guess on paper the "lines" artist use to enhance the designs are more visible than when put to plastic. Still, Heroes Return Iron Man! And we can pop Commander Rogers Photon shield on a recent Classic Cap and BOOM two Heroes Return versions in this wave! Commander Rogers is cool. He definitely needed an update as the first version was oddly larger proportioned compared to the Extremis Iron Man in the same wave, who was TINY!! HAHA. Glad both were updated The Marvel's look great. So cool we get classic comic Monica as well as MCU version in same calendar year. Carol and Kamala look good as well. Karnak is a great addition to the Inhumans even if his costume is one of the weaker ones of the Royal Family. Who's left to complete the classic team? Gorgon, Triton and Crystal I believe. And the dog. Seems less of a chance to knock out the remaining in a box set now so here's hoping Crystal gets made next. If this spacing keeps up we can expect them to be completed in about a decade haha Marvel Boy is nice. This appears to be his Dark Avengers suit? Boy his Protector version could use an update next. Again, looks like a solid wave. I like the MCU/ Comic split of figures. I'm sure the movie will get a Deluxe or a box set and more classic versions make it to my collection. Win/ win
