  1. Glad to hear some support for Joes, Gooooooo Joes! For the last couple of SDCCs, the "team" at Hasbro has been saying that they are just waiting on the next Joe movie to come out in order to give the brand the legs needed to support another full scale, mass release line to retail. Now, just to make myself clear on where I stand with Joe's; if Hasbro told me they could only make ONE toyline a year and I had the option to only have SW, Joe's or Legends (of which all 3 I feverishly collect) my answer would be, without hesitation, JOES! Having said that, any informed Joe collector knows that the line doesn't need a movie tie in to be popular. I back this up with fact as the 2007 25th Anniversary Joes line was actually Hasbros fastest selling 3.75 line in the history of the company at that time, even eclipsing their more-than-established SW lines from 2007-2008. That's also really saying something considering the 2007 SW 30th Anniversary line (followed by the Legacy Collection) were impeccable SW lines that eventually paved the way for the 3.75 Vintage Collection. It really is something to chew on when you factor in that the 25th Vintage style Joes and SW Vintage collection were the two biggest selling and most adopted Hasbro 3.75 lines of all time and as of 2014/2015, SA 3.75 SW has been reduced to scarcely repacked Walmart line and SA 3.75 Joes have been reduced to an annual small batch of TRU repaints/repacks box sets. God I miss the glory days...but I digress. Even more irritating is that the last Joe movie line was practically the death knell for Joes as a mass release line and sans the heavily under-shipped last wave or two, most of that movie line was garbage (just as the first movie line was) Please Hasbro...help me understand this nonsense! All of that notwithstanding, I have 20 years worth of an awesome SW 3.75 collection and am still happy with the Joes produced between 2007-2012 which is why I've fully embraced the SW 6in Black Series (it's fresh and exciting to get classic SW figs that you've purchased a dozen times over in 3.75 scale, but new for the first time in 6in scale) and by extension, I would do anything or well executed 6in Joes line. However, (looking at you Monron) I don't see the need for a BAF for a Joe line (I'm not saying it would deter me from buying the line) and I personally just think it would be kinda weird to see lol. Also, considering there are A LOT of 6/7in toy lines out there and the only ones with a BAF program are Legends and those God-awful DC figs, I don't see how BAFs are the industry standard as a whole lol. Lastly, if the Joes line had a build-a-weapon...who the hell is supposed to wield the weapon? Wouldn't a BAW program, by definition, mean the weapon would be bigger than the standard 6in scale gun? I love the creatively of your suggestion but I just don't get the execution of it lol.
  2. Also, the only 5 things I wanted to see come out of ToyFair (and will be the exact same 5 things I want to see come out of SDCC) were, to no surprise to me of course, more absent then healthy looking stool after a midnight run to Taco Bell... 1. Movie 6in Crossbones 2. Black Series Style 6in Joe's 3. Full FF Wave reveal 4. Return of SW Vintage SA 3.75 5. Some actual SW 6in ALIENS So I say let us both bask together in our crushed dreams! Furthermore (to try and attempt to say something relevant to this thread) I guess it's possible for us to assume that Target worked out some deal for the Warlock wave? I mean I literally can't remember the last time a wave has not only shown up at retail before preorders shipped out from etailers but let alone BEFORE those said preorders even went live! Either way, I could care less about waiting and the second the wave pops up on EE, I will proceed to clicking a few buttons and achieving total victory lol
  3. I can perceive not getting another Xmen wave this year, that's who lol. Despite me saying that for a while, my viewpoint is completely irrelevant as you can now hear it straight from the horses mouth (that horse being Dwight) during that Q&A posted on the front page. I'll try to remember his exact quote but I believe it was like "the great thing about doing 1 xmen wave a year is that we have the opportunity to really make each wave as awesome as we can. We are already working on 2019 waves but I think the 2018 Xmen wave is the best work we've don't yet" Again, the video can give anyone the exact quotes but for those who don't want to/haven't yet seen it, I believe i transcribed it pretty accurately off of memory. It stinks but it is what it is i suppose. 😩
  4. Despite having to buy them because I'm a Completionist, I have been routinely unimpressed with "retail box sets" and by extension, I am very happy to see the new focus is 2packs. I personally would just like to see the outright return of the Face Offs but these will do (for the most part) Having said that, the A-Force box set completely stole the show for me. Absolutely INCREDIBLE. A 6 figure set, completely out of left field, with 5 of them being brand new characters and one of them being a welcome redo/repaint? I almost can't believe it. Still...almost can't believe it. Also, to be clear, I'm not an "A-Force" fan and have never read the comics past the first issue of the first volume so there is zero bias coming from me on this. Personally, I just think the idea of an all female box set is new and fresh and having almost all new characters, that ALL look great, is just wicked cool. Plus, let's not forget that Hasbro has been killing it with the recent female face sculpts (pretty much the only thing TB couldn't achieve) and an opportunity to produce even more top tier quality female figs is just fantastic. I only ever read one of the comics and barely even know much about some of these characters BUT as a Legends fan...this set is a 10/10 box set for me. Actually, I would say this is the best ML boxset of all time and man what a genuine surprise to boot. Bravo Hasbro, bravo.
  5. I was hoping for a Carrion figure instead...glad one of us is stoked lol.
  6. Boots on the ground from another site had this to say: [youre thinking, Why is Mantis the BaF?! Its because shes a completely new tool, and that was the way they could cost her out] [A-Force Box set including (no figures shown, only comic art): Pulse (Monica Rambeau) Sif Lady Loki She-Hulk (new head) Singularity Elsa Bloodstone] [More Deadpool Legends wave is coming Netflix wave will include Daredevil Elektra Jessica Jones Punisher Two single carded figures TBA Build-a-Figure: is not Kingpin. Theyre arent ready to announce, but I can confirm that it is NOT a character from the Netflix shows. It is a larger scale comic character] Needless to say, I wasn't there but I didn't see anybody talking about this news so I figured I should share it (for those of you who already didn't read this that is)
  7. I'll just be happy if I NEVER see another movie Star Lord figure after today. Ever. Like ever forever ever.
  8. They stole the idea of adding a young Bob Villa alt head to Warlock, from you Tarot? How dare they!!!
  9. There will be, just takes time for them to compile everything. Plus JayC is already busy destroying any photos of ShatterStar he can so it might take him longer than usual.
  10. I love all this optimism about extra waves but I just wish I could share it unfortunately lol. We have already have 7 released/proposed waves for the year and that is without a 2nd Thor Wave (let alone 3) and without a 3rd GOTG wave. 7 waves ties last years record so anything more than 7 will not only set a new precedent but be pretty crazy (and awesome) to boot. I also know I used the word "proposed" instead of "rumored" but I honestly think that (despite not being confirmed) a single Thor3 Wave & Netflix/Knights wave are very realistic given the current landscape and timing-critical factors to consider. If we were to get 8 waves (assuming we are getting the 7 to begin with that I genuinely think we will), I think that would probably be it for the year. 8 waves is crazy so I can't really picture 9 or 10! Having said that, a hypothetical 8th wave could be a GOTG2 Wave 3 or a Thor3 Wave 2, imo. Out of those two proposals, I can't possibly begin to agree with Heisenberg more than I already do-Thor Waves for life! There's so many damn options and overdue characters needed that it makes my head spin just thinking about it. All I'm gonna say is...daddy needs a KURSE. Lastly, one could argue that they could just theoretically release subsequent potential Thor Waves, spilling into 2018. While i would never say that opinion is "wrong", I would only say that there is simply no precedent for that since Infinite Series started and by extension, it seems Hasbro is pretty keen on starting out their new years strong and fresh and happy to leave their previous year in the past. Out of the realm of possibility to see spill over waves? Absolutely not...BUT given the historical data, I wouldn't say it's likely is all. Prove me wrong Hasbro, I want 5 Thor waves damnit!!!
  11. Yeah that rumor BETTER not even be REMOTELY true! I believe the rumor was all 4 team members were going to be released through Walgreens, 2 this year and 2 next year... I also remember Dwight stating that (when questioned about more FF at NYCC I believe) that "well it would be weird if we only gave you Sue and no one else right" I will just be downright devastated if his grand plan for FF was this rumored 2 year Walgreens rehab program versus the idea of a real wave(s) The anxiety is killing me...pretty sure I'm going to have to pop some goddamn codeine for the first night of ToyFair.
  12. Another good wave list. I also would be completely cool with Inhumans interlaced within FF waves. Overall, we all have different interpretations of what we would want to see out of some initial FF waves being released but I think it's safe to say we'd all buy each other's waves lol. To somewhat rehash a previous sentiment of mine, I'm definitely not greedy and would be MORE than fine with one dedicated FF Wave a year, similar to what we are getting with Xmen. Also Monron, I know one of your bold predictions was that we would be getting more than one Xmen wave a year(and lord knows we need it) but I truly don't see it happening. I can elaborate on my thoughts as to why if asked but I don't want to get too far off topic with it since this is an FF thread. I will say this though about Xmen...hopefully I can be proven VERY wrong on that at some point! Ultimately though, as hopefully ToyFair will shed some light on Hasbros "plans" for FF, I really really really...really don't see how a request for at least one full FF wave a year would be so unrealistic or demanding. Having said that, I won't let my pure speculative optimism get the better of me as Im already having nightmares about Hasbro releasing a press release on 4/1, stating their going to give "full support" to FF...and then Dwight ends the press release with "LOLZ at collectors...you losers get Sue and THAT's IT! Can you tell I have anxiety over this topic?
  13. Nice! I live in FL and have never made it a priority to attend Toy Fair, NYCC or SDCC (one of these days!) Hit me up before SDCC as I would love to pass on 2-3 questions for you to ask Dwight, assuming you get the chance to talk to him and even want to entertain my request in the first place lol but I can say this, based on every interview I've read/watched with the Legends team, my questions/inquires have definitely not been presented to him or the team before. If you accept this great honor, you could become my personal envoy to the galactic senate of Legends Design. It would kind of be like receiving a knighthood-great honor that ultimately means nothing. Win win if I say so myself!
  14. Well I don't know about a secret alliance but your comment about how your wife, despite being married, still routinely finds your sarcasm as abrasive LOL I can match your bet and raise you $1 on that sir! I've made my thoughts clear on the Vulture/wings so I don't want to recycle my comments too much but I will say this: At the END of the day, I don't open my legends/figures so despite me being a faithful collector like many of you are as well...MAYBE I'm not the most qualified to speak on behalf of the BAFs. All I'm saying is, if I went on a tangent about any given BAF and someone responded with "but you don't open your figures so why do you even care" ...I don't think I could mount a valid arguement against them lol (even though I'd give it my all) This is not to say I don't "open" my Marvel figures, I actually open up a decent bit, but they just aren't legends. If I'm going to take the time to pose and display a figure, I much more prefer the Marvel select releases as their scale is a little beefier but most importantly, their sculpted work and paint apps are just so much better. Select didn't always have the best track record but these days, I personally think they are just killing it for the most part. As far as this feud between Rukk Vs Monron is concerned, I've made it clear in previous posts that there's more than enough merit to be agreed with on both sides and where I disagree, I've stated it as such...BUT...I do honestly think that you guys are arguing against two sides of the same coin at the end of the day. I believe you both have far more middle ground than being to the left or right of each other so in my expert clinical advice (I'm not a Dr but I've stayed at a Holiday Inn before) I think you two should just kiss and make up. That's also not to say I'm only for neutrality and peace (I was hard beefing with Tarot a while back) but at the end of it, we found a middle ground and the guy definitely isn't my enemy, no matter how much we may disagree on things. On top of that, Tarot is probably more passionate about Legends than all of us put together (maybe I speak for myself because I do collect plenty of other toy lines with equal veracity and in certain cases, with even more passion then legends) so that's something I can respect very easily. That's not to say I won't thrown down with him again down the line (or anyone) if the opportunity presents itself but we did make our points clearly, strongly and we've since moved on very easily so I think you guys should too. Or don't lol the drama makes for a good read after all!
  15. Sorry, typo as in *one of the 3 things is the FF Wave* Also, there's a lot of really great ideas for characters in this thread, from everybody. Excellent work being done here! Bring on the FF!!!!
  16. There's only 3 things I want to come out of ToyFair (across all the brands I collect) and that is the announcement of a FULL, dedicated FF Wave. I also know that there's only so many different versions of the core group and I'm NOT greedy. I'm beyond fine with one nice full wave a year and nothing more. My ideal starter Wave: 1. Classic Thing 2. Reed with swappables 3. Sue Storm-invisible 4. Flaming Johnny 5. Future Foundation Spidey 6. Doombot 7. Skrull Commander 8. Uncanny Kang BAF: Watcher
  17. I agree with you Rukk but I do fear that you "might" (maybe im wrong) be painting everyone with the same brush. Again, if I'm wrong, then by all means correct me BUT allow me to explain also: There are definitely people/collectors who complain. I mean really complain, about a particular wave/figure choices/BAF, etc, all the time and STILL go out and buy all the new #$##. Without sounding graphic/vulgar, those people should just kill themselves. I can't put it any more simply than that. They usually have a telltale sign of identification tied to a very common saying (I'm para-phrasing here so hopefully the "gist" is being represented) "Way to go Hasbro, more garbage and terrible fig/BAF/paint apps, character choices, etc...if this is what we are going to be getting from now on, than I'm done with this line for good" To be clear, in not saying those people are on these boards specifically but I see this kind of sentiment/comment from time to time (across other brands and sites, not just legends) and the only thing that comes to my mind is "#$##...shut up...just SHUT UP...you're so full of #$## that I can taste it through your words" Needless to say, the inherent lack of sincerity in that kind of post is just nauseating. We all know it when we see it... Then there's everybody else who throttles the line between casually complaining here and there but will not let their complaints stop them from enjoying the line...to people/collectors who do vocalize a negative sentiment/viewpoint from time to time because they are passionate about the brand. I fancy myself in the most latter of the categories and truth be told (you can check every post I've ever written on this site as evidence) I really don't complain very much. The only things I've ever been vocal enough about to consider myself bitching is: 1. Where is the Shocker figure? (problem solved now of course although I'm still sour about the eyes) 2. Where the hell are the MCU villains and just more villains in general (defer to my Bring On The Bad Guys thread) Still holding a torch for them to be made even though Hasbro pissed on the flames a while ago. 3. Fantastic Four Legends...PLEASE (we will see where this ultimately lands now that a Sue Storm is on the way) Have I had/Do I have more issues with legends than that? Sure. Have I expressed my opinion about said issues? Totally. However, I do feel that I generally keep my "complaining" to a very low hum overall. Having said that, I would like to also point out something that I feel is very important and that is this: Collectors such as myself, Rukk, Monron, Tarot (and others of course) who do TRULY support the line by buying just about most, if not all, legends that get released in any given year nowadays, are the MOST qualified to #$## and complain as we see fit. We put our money where our mouth is by supporting the line and we are entitled (I know, it's a taboo word) to call Hasbro on their bullshit if we feel so inclined and spread our opinions everywhere like the plague (a big reason why I enjoy fellow collectors rants and why I feel we are all in good company at the end of the day) because deep down, we know misses when we see them and we know hits when we see them I.E. We live the damn brand. Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn't close out my novel with this: Rukk made a very poignant point about something and I want to elaborate on it with my own personal experience with this truly powerful ideal. If you TRULY don't like it, no matter how hard you may want to, then vote with your wallet and DON'T BUY IT. I was a true champion of ToyBiz and still am mind you (if it weren't for them, there would be no legends) and I simply bought EVERYTHING they made. Sure they had their misses but I would never stop buying a line because the occasional wave had a dreadful figure or two in it. I do mean everything. Every fig, every variant, every wave, Icons, Face-Offs, Masterpiece, Showdowns, exclusives...you name it. There was nothing I seemingly didn't like enough to buy from them lol. Then...in comes Hasbro...ill never forget it...like it happened yesterday... I walk into a Target with my dad (who also collects) as we were doing some classic father-son hunting on a weekend and we walk into the aisle and see Hasbro Wave 1. First figure we see is Planet Hulk and we immediately grab it, out of pure collector instinct, not even knowing what was happening. Then...we see the figures behind the Hulk on the pegs. Second figure we see is nahco cheese Burger King mascot Hercules... We thumb through the figs, grab each and every one of them and begin our preliminary examination. We looked at the back of the cards to make sure we had every figure from the wave. We then see the price point of $15 on the pegs... (almost exactly double ToyBiz pricing) We lay them out all on the shelf and intently stare at them. A few seconds (or more) goes by before we both turn to each other and just say "wow...these are fucking terrible" We immediately start bitching about the sculpts, paint and the audacity to charge double the price for inferior looking figs, inferior packaging, less accessories, lack of comic and so on and so on...it was like a goddamn Dr. Phil episode in the middle of the toy department as we hemming and hawing like lunatics. In the end, we had a good laugh, we both bought a Hulk figure (the figure did look decent and just as important, we were massive fans of that story arc at the time) and we bitched the whole car ride home about how legends are now dead and Hasbro was the murderer. That was it. I COMPLETELY stopped buying legends. Period. To this day, the ONLY other figure I have from the "dark ages" besides that Planet Hulk, is the Crossbones fig and that's because he's one of my hands down favorite villains of all time and even THEN I was trepidatious about purchasing him since I loathed Hasbro legends to no end at the time and I really really really did not want to support the line. Was there diamonds in the rough back then? Sure. Did I have an opportunity to buy them? Absolutely. Did I? Nope, I was completely off that train and didn't look back. That is why I'm PROUD to say that my actions, my voting with my wallet and clearly many other collectors who felt the same way I did, all contributed and had a helping hand to bring about the death of marvel legends. Fortunately for Hasbro, they were still taking my money by the heaping stacks as I was still collecting Star Wars, Joe's and not that much longer thereafter, Marvel Universe. In fact, due to my severe distain of their current legends and also being a massive fan of 3.75 (I was and still am a diehard 3.75 collector and that will always be my favorite scale due to growing up and playing with Joes and later Star Wars) when MU came onto the scene, it was a complete peanut butter & jelly scenario as there was once again Marvel figures I thought were deserving of my money and they were in my fav scale! My ban against Legends didn't stop with the dark ages either as I was still unimpressed with the Return of Marvel Legends as well. Sure they were an improvement but still weren't tickling my fancy and I felt had a long way to go. The last couple of waves before Infinite Series had some winners for sure but I still wasn't sold on Hasbro regaining my trust (I hold grudges so I'm told) and it truly wasn't until the Hasbro Legends Phase 3, Infinite Series, that I became comfortable again giving Hasbro all my money (I'm a completist by nature) Moral of the story kids...vote with your wallet and MAKE them regain your trust and loyalty. Stand firm, stand strong and be resolute in your actions. To this day, I'm still very proud of the "gap" in my collection. I can easily go back and buy every Legend I'm missing-that's not a problem at all, but I feel maintaining that gap in my collection is a sign of collecting integrity (for me anyways) and i cherish it. I know this post has led to pretty much everyone saying "Jesus Christ will it ever end" and I completely agree lol I'm way off the beaten trail but hopefully my passion for the brand came through on some level.
  18. That's an awesome story Rukk. Will you be in attendance for Toy Fair?
  19. LOL quite the opposite Tarot, you helped spark conversation!
  20. @Rukk @ monron I appreciate both of your rants (and points within) and love to see the energy. It's also refreshing to see other people write as long-winded as I do lol. Also, monron, I believe you hit the nail on the head about your "we pay for every cent of plastic and paint we get" sentiment-I'm a firm believer of that. I also am pleasantly surprised to see others share my (what I once felt was a viewpoint only backed by own self) viewpoint of being ok with the BAFs being replaced with higher quality paint apps/sculpts and more accessories-i personally think that adds much more value to the package and presentation of the figure versus the "left leg" it may come with. I'm definitely not "anti-BAF" by ANY means (despite me not opening my figures) but I would be lying if I didn't say I miss the sculpting and superb paint apps of the ToyBiz days...like...A LOT. Yeah the molds, joints and overall aesthetic proportions we get now are much more improved (why shouldn't they be...toybiz hasn't made a legend in over 10 years...) but the sculpted detail and PAINT still pales in comparison to TB standards.
  21. Completely agree with DSmith & monron, very cool ideas you guys have. I have a feeling we should all be working for Hasbro lol. Then again, I don't think they can afford me though and I'm sure original ideas like these will get tossed into the "sure...sounds great" drawer.
  22. @Rukk Yeah lol I guess I haven't noticed the BAF talk in threads as much as you have...or simply am not as passionate as you are about the subject (again, I don't open my figs) I will say however that I do feel that that the Vultures wings being the "BAF" is on the silly/weird side of things and I think a standalone Deluxe figure release for like $30 or so would've been a better option. But, I do find the movie suit to be pretty damn cool looking and I think the figure looks great overall. I also don't share your viewpoints on redos and movie figs-when done right (specifically movie figs because at the end of the day, at least 90% or more legends released in the year are comic based so I feel pretty catered to for the most part with respect to that equation) That however doesn't mean I don't understand you're viewpoint-I totally do. My arguement to that (for lack of a better word) is that the current structure of how their do their waves is pretty spot on and simply stronger than the "random figures wave" structure of years past (well pretty much every year before 2014) Pretty much all comic waves with a movie fig thrown in here and there so both camps are represented. Granted, not every movie fig that gets released is the "right choice" imo but more often than not, they do look decent. Still waiting for movie Yellowjacket, Ronan, Malakith, Heimdall, Sif, Crossbones, Kurse, Frost Giant, etc *cough* Villains *cough* Im praying "some" of these get addressed in Ragnorok Wave 2 if we get it...but I'm definitely not holding my breath. I digress... If you look at series of yesteryear, where they would release FULL WAVES of movie figs, I think we are in a inarguably stronger position and I would have to assume you would agree. Especially since, imo, most of those aforementioned movie waves had figures that, well, looked like...CRAP. Keep up the ranting and stay thirsty my friend!
  23. @Tarot Interesting theory about Dead Meat and actually kind of funny lol. I do hope it's a Carrion figure but even more so, a nonsensical codename for a goddamn Tinkerer! 😄 @Monron I literally almost spit out my drink reading your comment about Trumps wall LMAO I immediately pictured in my head an impenetrable wall made up exclusively of 6in plastic, compressed and melted-all-together Iron Mans. Please let that be a reality...please!
