  1. Considering any of these choices will most certainly be slotted into a wave at 1 per case and contain a BAF piece, I'm pretty sure they run little risk of sell through with respect to any other figure from said wave.

Most "peg warmers" are either hanging out on the shelf with a missing BAF piece due to scumbags that want to collect the line but feel stealing is more appropriate...or clear overproduction of the wave (looking at you AllFather)...or simply due to Hasbro's consistently terrible case pack ratios which almost necessitate guaranteed lifers on the pegs.

6 figure waves produce the most peg warmers REGARDLESS of the wave and if Hasbro just pulled their pants up and produced nothing less than 7-8 figure waves all the time AND gave the double(s) proper ratios AND properly shipped them (better to under ship than over ship as far as retailer health is concerned) than we would barely have any warmers ever.

Also, what's mostly ignored but is very important, is the exponential proliferation of collectors getting their figures through online etailers by the set/case like me.

So, as being part of the problem with regards to directly contributing to "figures not selling on the shelf" since I buy online; here's an example:

Most stores (generally speaking) get 2-5 cases of a wave with replenishment on an as needed/availability basis. Yes I know that different stores in different areas can have greatly varying numbers but purely for arguements sake, let's say 2-5 cases.

My personal collecting community is myself, 3 friends and my father and we all live very close to one another. We almost all collect whatever line we collect in its entirety or close enough to it. So let's say we bought our figures at retailers and we walk into a target and see an endcap with 5 cases of the XMEN wave on it...we would clean the endcap COMPLETELY and walk to the registers with our shopping carts of over $1000 in legends and go home happy. Other collectors would walk in and see an empty section and be like "damn, these figures are going to be hard to find"

Now play out the same scenario but with us all ordering our cases from online (EE) We all walk into that target and see 5 cases of XMEN on the shelf...we would be like "oh cool, Hasbro actually pumped them out to retail" and then we would just walk away and leave the section untouched. Other collectors come in and see the section and are like "damn, these figs wound up not being that hard to find afterall"

At the end of the day, my friends and I are making it much easier for the collectors/scalpers in our area to find stuff but if we all bought at retail, and you lived in our area, we all would be making your collecting FIVE TIMES as hard.

Something to think about I suppose.

I meant to put this in a different thread I'm so sorry guys.

  2. If I can I always buy in person I will even if its slightly cheaper online. There is just a nostalgic feeling about going into a store and finding the figure you have had your eye on. It reminds me of when Spider-man 3 came out and I made my dad drive all around town looking for Sandman and the feeling I got when I finally found it. plus the stores around me tend to be pretty great with sales and that's a young customizer on a tight budgets dream.

  3. JESUS, my wallet hurts.

Since payday I splurged on eBay to buy:

    -Spider-Girl (Ashley Barton) $

    -Silk $$

    -Spider-Man (Miles Morales) $

    -Civil War Winter Soldier $$

    -SDCC Raft Boxed Set $$$

And then I went to Target yesterday and they DID have the Civil War War Machine and Disco Iron Man, so I bought that. $39.99.

Then on Amazon I took a chance and applied for the Amazon Credit Card, so I bought:

    -Phoenix $

    -Iceman $

    -Cable $

    -Kitty Pryde $

    -Hobgoblin $$

    -Wolverine $$

    -Rogue $$

So all of these should arrive in the mail this week, I think the Spider-Man figures from eBay should arrive today. But DAMN does my wallet hurt.

At least the Amazon purchases went onto a new card. There was a particular Amazon seller that had the X-Men figures at about $17/18 each, which is a good discount, and then applying for the card and getting approved I got a $20 gift card discount on the purchase.

Deadpool was really still pricey, and I didn't need him to complete Juggernaut, so I held off, may try to see if I can find it at Target or Walgreens, or wait until the cases hit everywhere and maybe the price online will come down.

I did receive Civil War Winter Soldier already and though a rather dreary costume, he's well executed and the likeness is LIGHT YEARS better than the previous figure from the last movie.

And the Civil War War Machine looks awesome. I would have loved a Don Cheadle head like the new Robert Downey Jr. head we just got in the Spidey 3pack. War Machine has lots of weapons that fit into the armor of the figure, super cool. I did effectively pay $40 for this figure, as I have no use for Disco Armor Iron Man, but it was still cheaper to get at Target than paying $70 for the set online which seems to be the going rate at the moment.

Thank GOD the Abomination wave isn't out yet, but I'm only getting 4 of those (skipping shield-throwing Cap and Iron Skull), since I'm fine using the SDCC Abomination in my display. They really could have done A-Bomb instead, would have pushed more units of the less desirable Cap figures if there was a new BAF offering instead of a redeco of an SDCC release. The darker SDCC Abomination seems nicer anyway, all the tone changes on the Cap wave version seems inconsistent and a little jarring.

Should be a toy-palooza at my apartment this week! Can't wait! And can't afford to go out and do anything else while I wait! Guess I'll just go stare out the window for the mailman.

Imagine being a teenager who can't find a job RN. So many great figures coming out and I can't afford any of them.

  4. Has anyone thought that one of the "Lady Legends" that are not stated in any wave is gonna be the exclusive for the Marvel Unlimited Plus program? The exclusives are always announced at the end of august and that's just a month away so it would not be surprising that they would show us a near finished prototype like the Sue Storm and Dark Phoenix shown. Based on the exclusives mostly just being repaints my money is on Dark Phoenix. Just a little theory I felt like sharing.
