Classic Marvel Comics 1/6 Spider-Man Figure From Hot Toys
SpiderS replied to JayC's topic in Marvelous News's General Area
Something tells me we gonna get additional heads and if not that then we will get variants. -
It's a 3rd review of the final suit Spidey where masked head has misaligned webbing in the middle, which is really irritating, on bonus side, now you can at least see the figure thanks to the return of the window packaging but there's no excuse for Hasbro to have so many imperfections especially where it matters the most, you can excuse misaligned webbing on arms, legs and maybe even chest but when we have that on the mask it absolutely ruins figure and any goodwill you might have for the other aspect of the figure.

I would prefer someone like Ryan Gosling, who could play aloof mentally disturbed individual struggling with his own demons, but I'm sure Steven Yuen is skilled actor who can do the job with his own twist, although thanks to Invincible he fits more into Peter Parker type archetype now, but casting really won't be the problem, the real question is about movie script and direction, since recent MCU movies have tendency to be incredibly mediocre and uninspiring.

There's a lot of good in that Final Suit Spidey but bad still outweighs the good, firstly, his arms are super long and spindly, which makes whole body proportions look questionable, secondly, masked headsculpt is just bad, be it due to bizarre head shape or eye placement, it reminds me of spider-man head shaped candy/cookies, which have weird proportions but for a reason, here they had no such reason and no excuse.

It was rough, movie is clearly severely cut, which makes it seems more like tv special rather than a movie. First movie is a masterpiece in comparison, because it's actually has themes, mystery and structure unlike the sequel. it's sad because they really could have created something more interesting than cute cats and cringey musical planet. It could have been adaptation of Annihilation story line with Carol, Monica and Kamala taking center stage and they did already have Kree/Skrull conflict but it was mostly relegated to a filler background.

Marvel Legends X-Men Lilandra Figure Revealed
SpiderS replied to JayC's topic in Marvelous News's General Area
That's crazy how much we waited and still waiting to get some of these figure. But something tells that before becoming fan poll figure these were supposed to be released as waves if Hasbro didn't have trouble with initial Marvel Legends sales or whatever the issue was that made them take long pause and switch to more conservative release approach. And sure back then Hasbro's game was weak and newer figures are superior but it's been so long ago that I almost wouldn't mind if we had these released back in the day. -
Yeah that 3 character thing was hard to believe, So one is Blade's daughter but who other 2 would have been? I'm really curious. Maybe Blade's mom who somehow returned and it would be learning from her mistakes which might explain "life lessons part"? Like at least with Madame Web movie with 4 Spider-Women makes sense since there's billion Spider-Women and some of them have fan bases out there but Blade doesn't have such deep character roster.
-
It would make sense only if we were seeing Wesley Snipes version again who had 3 movies and now we see him as father figure in new light, but when you introduce all new Blade putting him in secondary position is horrible idea, but according to this it wasn't even secondary but worse. But on other hand because of this they hired new writer who did Blade Runner 2049 and Logan, which is really promising.

Marvel Legends X-Men Lilandra Figure Revealed
SpiderS replied to JayC's topic in Marvelous News's General Area
To this day I'm shocked Hasbro didn't do classic Ms. Marvel first appearance costume with interchangeable head for Dark Ms. Marvel, they would only need to reuse updated Moonstone figure, they could do her in 2 pack as well and include fellow Dark Avenger like Bullseye Hawkeye or Scorpion Venom, which would be essentially Black costume Spider-Man on more muscular body like Vulcan (They can also add Kraven's head for last hunt story look) If there's ever gonna be time for such release it's now when the new movie is coming out. Updated black/gold Ms. Marvel costume would be nice too since the original figure had a pretty meh paint job and double joints are nice. -
Marvel Legends X-Men Lilandra Figure Revealed

It seems like Hasbro reused cape from Hellfire Jean/Selene minus the rose. While it's great to get her after so long I hope we still get non armored version some day. -
After 3rd Antman it would be hard to see Kang become big threat again after being defeated by Ants, even though Majors is skilled actor. I think that momentum is lost so replacing him with Doom wouldn't be a bad idea, they just need to give a Kang proper and memorable exit, they can even still call it Kang Dynasty since Doom and Kang are related in comics or they are variant of each other etc.
-
Or someone might have technology in the movie to pull characters out of any point in time, same way Spidey did in his version of Secret Wars in animated series. I do believe if they want alternate version they would rather have Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt cameos, It's likely Kang Dynasty or Doom Dynasty will be movie full of variants and secret wars will show return of more established heroes along with remaining variants which in the end will create all new world and opportunity to reboot it all. And it makes sense time wise since Secret Wars likely will be in cinemas by the 2028-2029, that would be 9-10 years since the last time we saw og Avengers.

As said above RDJ head is great but way too oversized but I'm surprised how shiny and metallic red is on the figure, I think Hasbro finally nailed the process of making marbleised plastic look kinda sorta metallic but I doubt they can repeat it.This figure would have benefited from new Helmet sculpt because this old one looks pretty weird and small if you compare it to movie.
-
I love how well they sculpted Tombstone, they totally nailed that look for him, which is kind of surprising from Hasbro, I wonder who they can reuse this new body for. As for others, Hollow Eve's is well done, however, maybe if she had hair coming from the hood just like on the cover she would be more visually interesting. Assassin Spidey looks sharp but what the hell is wrong with his legs being so wide apart? because it isn't the case with RYV/DD/DP buck.
-
They should have given such treatment to animated VHS line Green Goblin, sadly it's too soon now for another animated style fishscale-less Green Goblin, But I guess they can still do new Hobgoblin in Animated series style with good headsculpt that does character justice.
-
They look great for the most part, Jack is the least problematic one for me, Last Stand Spidey has really skinny and spindly arms especially compared to very thick legs which doesn't make much sense proportions wise, Scarlet Spider is interesting but it ultimately will depend what kind of red and what kind of plastic shine it has which can make that figure either look great or really cheap.

I also assume that spikes might not only be just overseas numbers but collectors who only go for projects when there's definite chance of it getting funded and when they saw 8 k and 9 k hits they took the chance all because of magical "fear of missing out" (including people who were negative all along)
