The D+ shows have gotten some of the best representation of the Mcu. I think only Eternals can match the cast= figure rate and only because the entire wave, Store Exclusive,  Deluxe were all movie based.

I may be off by 1 or 2 but there have been 32 characters from the D+ shows including BAFS and Store Exclusives. Almost forgot about Owen Wilson's odd ball Exclusive

As an MCU guy this is great news but these What If? figures are getting kinda overkill. Much like the Into the Spider-verse figures, there is just no place to display them. If Hasbro insists on figures from that show, then stick to Zombies. At least that sub line would have legs

I think that it's great that they're doing the What if...? figures. I'm sure there's market for them. IMHO they'd fit great next to a comic figure, but not the live action stuff. On the other hand, it would be so much better if they did what Black Series does with the animated properties: make them realistic.

I really wished they had replaced T'Challa with Killmonger, no offense to Shuri, and this is a good figure, there's just no spot for this in my collection. It's a figure basically based on a non-character. As is the case with most of the What If? figures. This is one I can comfortably pass on. I do like the base mold and can see it being used for some figures in the future.

It’s the same figure as the one from the M’Baku wave! That one came with the vibranium mask from the museum and ambulance scene.

Yes and they should have had a scene with becoming horribly sick and dying in agony.

No superpowers for you, only radioactive death. Death! DEATH!! In the Mighty Marvel Manner!

With who becoming horribly sick? The Todd? If so, yes, it would’ve been horribly hilarious and very much in line with the Marvel formula… I would’ve been happy with it, but I’m glad with how they ended the show!

Agree! I wasn't the least bit crazy about that origin but the rare genetic marker thing works. At least that way, you don't have just any rando gaining Hulk powers from Banner's blood. In fact that's what I've thought almost all these radioactive - bestowed-powers characters have had in common: some kind of unique, unknown trait that enables the body wide mutagenic changes, whereas anyone else exposed, would become horribly sick and die in agony.

Plus, that sickness was already established way back when The Man Lee had a sip of Banner blood in a soda. I loved She Hulk, it's the best show since Loki.

I mean, first movie made close to 8x the production cost, second one made about 5x... and both were a hell of a lot more fun than half the MCU films have been.

    But sure, Jan.

Yeah, I mean, the MCU's worst financial return is Incredible Hulk with less than twice it's budget. And that doesn't mean a thing. unless you're the one making it.

There's no objective way to measure how good/bad a movie is, you can determine certain parameters but they won't mean anything to someone with different perspective. Following your financial parameters, Morbius made less that twice it's budget and that's the follow up to Let there be Carnage. There is a clear decline in Sony Marvel Universe interest.

I haven't gotten around to watching Morbius, but I absolutely despised both Venom movies. I was incredibly bored, barely found any jokes amusing, and I didn't like how they treated certain characters and what I used to know about them from comics, games and cartoons. I'm not even gonna compare them to the MCU because it doesn't matter, I'll just keep spending my money on what I like, and this ain't it.

Granted T’Challa > Ross as a MCU presence but why doesn’t William Hurt get the same consideration?

I think it's not just MCU presence. Both did an amazing job in the roles and deserve equal amount of praise and respect for it. At the same time, the impact Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa socially and culturally and what he represents for a lot of people is much greater that what Hurt did, and that isn't a disservice to anyone, it's the role they played.

On the other hand, many have carried the mantle of Black Panther so it is possible to go around that without recasting, but there really isn't another Thunderbolt Ross (I'd make a case for Talbot stepping up, and getting the dude from AoS to play him again sans the Graviton plot... but I'm not sure it would work flawlessly either).

  7. I can't wait for tomorrow when my figure arrives. I've never been a fan of Namor, but having a Mexican actor portray him interested me and looking at how much insight and study went into representing prehispanic culture really touched my core and I kind of already love it by default by now. Also, I'm really curious as if I'd be able to build an MCU Illuminati with the comic lineup. That Blackbolt looked really good on MoM... regardless of his origin and end 😛

  8. This wave annoys the flarken out of me. I want that BaF and the live action figures are ok at worst. But I do not like the way the What if figures look. I understand that's accurate to the show, but even Black Series knows to turn it's animated characters into realistic versions of them to fit the rest of the line.

I'm incredibly annoyed at the Howard the Duck and Anthead set. That piece is a statue.
