  1. Good figure, good review; the lighter lavender color brings out the dark shapes for the eyes and the lower front of the mask better than the previous version. In the comics they used light gray, instead of lavender, but as time went on that changed to lavender/purple. The animated series used the shade here. 5:52 From the comics, he usually did have that shape on the mask. It seemed sometimes to me it was a distinctive shape, other times a product of trying to convey shadow.
  2. Right! I agree, good figure, but should have stayed with the previous mold. Also its good that while the thigh boots now have a seam or lip instead of just being painted on, they should have made them like the boots used for the Extremis Armor. That would eliminate the thigh cut, but still give decent articulation.
  3. I had very high hopes for that Taboo series....and quickly fizzled out due to exactly what you said: mechs and cyborgs. An incoherent mess that spent 0 time exploring the supernatural aspect of Werewolves, and instead wound up looking some very bad 80s cartoon series. But "hot garbage" is a better way of putting it.
  4. Hopefully with an Odin re-do, they'll show some other Asgardian love to Warriors Three and classic Beta Ray Bill..... Wow, well put....I echo what you're saying about them not tapping that deep well that they have. I'm still waiting for Red Wolf, some Golden Age characters (oooh, just hit me- with the new Angel wings, they can now do a decent Red Raven). In addition to doing the characters though I really want them done accurately.
  5. Great figure. Gonna likely pass on this though. I got the Titanium Man because he scales near perfectly with 6" Legends Iron Man figures; hasbo hasnt done a classic version and who knows if they ever will. As a BAF it would likely be too short, as a Deluxe it would be overpriced. Crimson Dynamo is another thing though. Still...great figure, and I love the accessories!
  6. I echo your sentiments about it taking this long. Its regrettable they did away with the classic point "v" for Iron Fist, 'cause it just looks "off" this way, but pairing him with the modern Cage makes me think they could do another 2 pack down the road. This time with Cage in his classic 70s look (actual ab crunch this time, no exposed armpits, etc) and Iron Fist with his 70s, Byrne era, darker, iridescent/ glossier green and this time with the classic cut (they did it for Namor's walgreens outing). Hate getting my hopes up but they said "85yrs anniversary" more than a few times, so....there are a lot of figures they can pull from with an 85 year bench. Who knows, they may just do that Misty Knight/Colleen Wing 2 pack in the near future....
  7. I hear you because like you say, we're talking 10, almost 20 years in some cases and still they're not using more of the Marvel pantheon, if you will. We still don't have Ms. Marvel, or the Warriors Three, and don't get me started on the number of teams they still need to finish. But then they do something like Crystar....so...you never know...
  8. WELL....Iron Fist it is. And looks like they didn't cheat him of ab articulation and what not. Looks great...Looks like they got it right....but then there's the collar. They say this is classic Iron Fist. Well his collar deal ended in a point, its all a nice "V" shape, much like Sub-Mariner's 70s outfit or the Falcon's. Not this. Now, I'm sure if somebody looks around especially for more modern (90s etc) pictures, they might find this "open" thing. Still, its a 2pack so there's a chance a correct version can appear, along with an improved correct classic Cage.
  9. Unlike a lot of fans, I'm not one to automatically link Power Man with Iron Fist; I know their team up has been a long standing thing. So it doesn't necessarily mean that a Luke Cage figure has to be followed up by an Iron Fist one, but from this list that may be happening. I just hope they don't do to him what they did to Luke Cage (eliminating torso movement, ab crunch, calf swivel etc). I couldn't bring myself to buy that figure. Wouldn't be able to get this one if they did the same. But nice to the name in the list!
  10. I'd like them to re-issue the Hellfire Club set. I got one but not everyone was able to. Sure would be nice for fans who missed out.
  11. TRUTH! I cannot understand why there's so little emphasis on Captain America (I could add Thor & Daredevil to that as well) in the line. Not only does Cap have enough of a bench for his own waves, he's the perfect vehicle for peppering in Serpent Squad/Society figures; most of all, GOLDEN AGE figures (which really should have been done during the "80th Anniversary" theme). -Captain America (pinless, metallic sheen on the chain mail, metallic sheen on the shield) -Classic Falcon (70s) with Redwing (articulated wings) -Nomad ('70s) -Bucky (WWII) -Viper/Madame Hydra (use correct body this time, alt head/face with scar) -Moonstone (original guy, never been done) -Deadly Nightshade (70s era outfit) -Diamondback
  12. Agree, it can be done right and Mezco pretty much demonstrates this regularly. I'd say the hasbo team hasn't put in the effort to learn, even though they've been doing Legends for well over a decade now. I don't think most collectors are expecting or even want Mezco-level soft goods, but capes and long coats should be something hasbo could do, if they wanted. This lab coat would've been good for that. Throw in a pocket protector for extra points....
  13. As long as people buy the old re-issued figures at a higher price, there's no incentive for hasbo and co. not to,,,,
  14. My hat is off to the team for sticking to the comics and making the Golden Avenger in his accurate armor, with the apron/kilt. Instead of just doing a straight re-paint of the original gray "iron" look, they did it RIGHT. If I had any issue, it would be that a brighter, shinier shade of gold had been used, similar to the gold paint used on the Animal Warriors of The Kingdom Chunari Centurion. The Stark head is more late '70s-80s era instead of the '60s but they got the most important detail correct on this one! I know a lot of collectors were hoping for this!!
  15. I still want to see a classic Rhino, Romita style face.....Man-Wolf still hasn't been done. A Spider-Slayer could make a good BAF. The Vulture could use a re-do, too.
  16. Interesting. They could do a Spidey BAF wave with Stegron as the BAF. But if they go out of the box and pick a character not strictly associated with Avengers/X-Men/Spider-Man, I'd like to see the Griffin (the mutated version from the 90s Namor series). Now that they've got proper wings courtesy of the Angel, they could really do it up right, if they work it. Or, save Griffin for a Sub-Mariner wave....
  17. -Yellowjacket, preferably with the uni-goggles/visor, sunburst pattern. But ABSOLUTELY don't do to his torso like what they did to Luke Cage, armpit for hire. I can see the temptation because of the wing vanes, but no. NO. -Wasp, yellow & red outfit (little collar, red turtle neck, and I think the yellow tunic had sequins kinda sorta??) she wore throughout a good chunk of the late 60s and on -Equinox. Semi translucent fire and ice -Whirlwind, classic Ant-Man & Wasp foe, bare version this time, no gray chainmail -Graviton -Quicksilver (either light blue or green but MUST have his white hair with the white "tufts") -Radioactive Man, Grim Reaper; both could use re-do's
  18. Her costume/headset had a kind of 50's sci-fi kitsch look....I used to think it looked goofy as hell but later grew to love it....
  19. Right!? Xavier probably drained the family fortune, replacing those things. He had to go begging to Angel for a loan LOL! But they smash these multi-million jets as soon as they get them....this is why we can't have nice things...
  20. Technically you're right....Hank wouldn't have shrunk this, as in this particular era (early 60s) the Avengers didn't even have a Quinjet. That came later, after the Black Panther joined, and he designed their first Quinjet (1969). The Vision and the Black Panther destroyed it on its first mission (rammed it into a Frost Giant). This model came out in '79, and was designed by John Byrne. It was ALSO destroyed on its first mission (Wonder Man), but not to worry, they got a new one in the next issue. It pretty much became iconic because before this, the Avengers' artists didn't stick to just one design for the Quinjet.
  21. Personally, I don't have a problem with multiple Iron Man armor suits in an Iron Man set or wave....he's actually one of the few heroes that can get away with this. However I would've swapped out: -The "mark 09" for the Prometheum armor. -Saved Count Nefaria for an Avengers wave, and used classic Crimson Dynamo instead -Saved She-Hulk for a Hulk wave and used either Madame Masque or that purple armored Sasha Hammer -Added a classic Mandarin. No business suit, no weird green dude from the animated show. And No, none of these look like bad figures; they all look fantastic for a change and I would also add that, as I've said before, mixing in different characters isn't ever going to keep fans from buying them. Have a Watcher BAF in a Luke Cage wave or a Lockjaw BAF in a Daredevil wave? People might scratch their heads....but they certainly will still buy 'em.
  22. Please don't try to sub in Dr. Doom!! NO. That'll go over about as well as trying to sub the Inhumans for mutants. Look how well THAT went over. I don't see why they can't just recast Kang. If he's dropped now, then whatever contract/agreement he had should be null and void. This could give them a chance to really think about what kind of story they're doing. Also, future movies (see what I did there) don't have to explain why the new actor looks different. Just take the time (HA) and do the story.
  23. Ok but I can't see how re-issuing the same figures is appealing either; from some of the comments here the consumers certainly don't seem to be into it. All I'm saying is if the MCU isn't available, hasbo still has a wide collection (80 years worth) of Marvel characters to make figures from.
