  1. A Tale of Two Stores:

Like many of you interested in the ML 80th Anniversary Thor, Iron man and Captain America, I have been checking in on the Brickseek link for inventory levels at my local Target stores.  I know through this discussion forum a few contributors have stated that the release date is August 1st, but some stores may have put them on the sale floor.  This morning while checking Brickseek, I saw that all stores in my immediate area showed both Thor and Iron Man in stock, While Captain America was not available.  I then clicked on the view on Target link and jumped to Target’s website.  It showed that both Thor and Iron Man were in stock in “my Store” at Clifton NJ.  When I saw that I decided to hightail it to Target.  When I got there the were some store associates putting out stock in the area, my heart skipped a beat, was I about to reach nirvana!  But alas no, there was no Thor or Iron Man out.   I asked one associate if they had Thor in stock.   I gave him the DPCI and I told him that their website stated that it was in stock.  He said something of some error on the website but that they didn’t have it in.   He said the same could be said for Iron Man.

So, I thought that they were staying true to the “August 1st “street date.  Then I thought let me hit the Fairfield NJ store to see what the story is there.  When I got there the area was quiet, no staff around.  I found the action figure aisle and turned onto it and BOOM, there was Thor!!!!!!  He was on a shelf all by his lonesome.  There were about 6 to 7 to choose from and believe me you must check them out.  Many had paint blemishes/smudges on the silver circles on his chest.  I literally checked each one before picking out the best of the lot.  We all know its good to be patient, but sometimes it’s better to be lucky. Happy hunting!!!

Grabbed the Hulk set at my local Gamestop.  He is awesome but the wolverine looks surprisingly good as well, brighter colors than the tiger stripe version make it pop a bit more.

They also had some of the x-vintage wave (cyke, iceman, and silver samurai).  All looked good, samurai is the only one on my must-buy list but passed for now since i didn't feel like paying the Gamestop markup, especially after shelling out for the Hulk set.

gotta say, it almost feels like if i get the 80th Thor, Cap, Iron Man, as well as Nightcrawler, Storm and a Classic Colossus, i might be able to call it a day as far as collecting.  But who am i kidding, not ready to call it quits yet although there aren't a lot of other A-listers/favorite characters that i can think of that are missing.

We are simpatico.  About a 2 years or so ago I decided to  try to create a set of my 1st avengers team that got me hooked in the comic.  Thor, Cap, iron man, Vision (my favorite), Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Black Panther and Hawkeye/Goliath.  I started with a Marvel Select "vintage" Thor", and paid on eBay to get the ML Scarlet Witch .  I felt good about getting the Walmart exclusive ML Black Panther at the sale price.  I held off on the original Vision figures, as well as the multiple incarnations of both Cap and Iron Man, because they didn't have that certain je ne sais quoi.  THEN in the last year between the 2nd ML vintage wave (Vision and Hawkeye) , the recent family matters 3 pk and now the upcoming release of the 80th Annivesary big 3, WOW!

Then Hasbro who has been affecting all of our wallets with the amount of figures that they have been pushing out, with the release of the ML Warlock wave, I decided to finish my Giant Size X-Men team (Sunfire, Polaris) and create a Blue team.  Which then morphed into adding the Gold team ( I was a big fan of Bishop).  Of course we need to sprinkle in some villains and we need Professor X........ You get where I'm coming from.   So as soon as I am able to receive the 80th Anniversary trio ( I am searching for Cap like the rest of you ), Nightcrawler, Storm, Iceman, and the Love Triangle set; I think I can cool off my credit card. 🔥🔥🔥

    Yep.  Everyone but Storm.

This is Warlock Cyclops all over again.  I will never see a Storm in a store.  Storm is sold out online everywhere. I will never own this particular Storm.

Maybe in three years she'll get re-released in an impossible to acquire three pack wearing a stupid bomber jacket.

Do you have a Think Geek near you?  A sister company or subsidiary to GameStop, they focus more on action figures.  They have been getting replenished on both the X-Men retro wave and Wendigo wave almost every other day at the Palisades Mall in West Nyack NY .  I popped in there on Sunday and a customer was purchasing a retro Storm as I got there.  Keep the faith.

  4. I was checking for one thing on the Gamestop website and noticed that the Colossus/Juggernaut site was available in some stores in my area.  I lucked out as the one I called in the Garden State Plaza in Paramus NJ had one and I placed it on hold and went there on my way to work.  As  I got there, two guys were checking it out. WHEW!!!! It pays to call ahead.  They also just got in the Wendigo wave.

Never mind, found it on their site after digging around as “marvel legends Spider-Man” didn’t quite cut it in the search lol.

    DPCI: 087-16-0459

Walmart Cap SKU: 413500830 (this is the one that works in Brickseek as the SKU listed on their site for this figure does NOT work on Brickseek)

Nothing shows for either of these figures in my area yet (south Florida), nor has Binary marvel shown up yet either.

    Happy hunting!

Thanks for the heads up on the Walmart Cap SKU, its the last figure that I need to order in 2019,  Much appreciated CobraSaboteur87!!!

The X-Factor 2-pack and X-Men 3-pack are both up on Pulse for pre-order now.  Due to ship December 1st.

As I got home from work, I noticed that I had received emails from Big Bad Toy Store and Dorkside Toys with announcements of the newest upcoming Marvel Legends waves.  As the Beast would say "Oh my stars and garters!".   When I saw the X=Men three pack I was ecstatic, ( personally I wanted a better Jean Grey than the 2013 ML figure)  liking Cyclops with alternate heads as well as Wolverine with bone claws.   I jumped on this set on pulse.  For me, Christmas will be coming early this year. Ho Ho Ho!!!

  7. I know that many of you folks like to go "into the wild" to hunt for new releases.  Hell what am I saying, I went out to check a target earlier that showed an 80th Anniversary Thor in stock after I checked the Brickseek website.  So after I got home empty handed, I checked Hasbro Pulse and they have up for pre order the Colossus/Juggernaut 2 PK, and both the 80th Anniversary Thor and Iron Man.  So I ordered them all!  With the free shipping, I'm a happy camper and saving on that gas. 😎

  8. Just went to visit one of the Target stores in my area, on the off chance that any 80th anniversary figures were available, hoping to complete my Avengers 70"s team.  None were out but was surprised to see that the entire SPFFH wave was represented between the endcap and aisle displays.  Man that was a first and since I don't collect Spider Man figures, of course they were all there.  But I did pickup the Scorpion, I have been fascinated with him from afar for a while.  I may keep him or not.....

The Prof. X is an awesome figure and a great addition to one's collection!

Some might have some issues with Hasbro Pulse but I am not one.  On the 4th of July I noticed that the Professor X with hover chair was back in stock on their site. I gobbled one up and was looking for an email on Friday to see if/when it would be shipped.  Didn't get one but on Saturday, Charles Xavier arrived.  Starlord67 is right, this figure is really sweet, photos don't really do it justice.  Bonus, my shadow King is now complete!

Hmmm. My account says "Paid" and I think it's always said that the day I preordered. I always just assumed I was charged when I did. Might have to double check my account.

Hasbro like most e-retailers will not charge you on preorders until them have them in stock.  My Hasbro Pulse Caliban order arrived today (May 3rd),   It ships out of Pa and delivered by FedEx to Northern NJ within 24 hrs.  HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!!

Anyone that preordered the X-men wave from HasbroPulse gotten a shipping alert yet? My account still says "unfulfilled" and when I click on the X-men wave that they have on the site, they're still labeled "Pre-Order" and I just noticed it says "available to ship APPROXIMATELY May 1st."

I checked my credit card online this morning and noticed that i was charged today (May 2nd) for my X-men Caliban figures preorder.  So it looks as if they are starting to process the preorders.  HOORAY!!!!!

  12. The thread has been quiet for a couple of days, so here’s my tale of searching for Mystique.  I like many others spend some of my time on a quest when I can in search of that elusive exclusive at Walgreens.  Jay Cochran posted on Friday March 15th that the Mystique figure was available again on the Walgreens website, by the time I ventured onto the site it was sold out again but I was able to check locations for stock.  I visited one or two locations which were showing 2-5 or 10+.  At each store in northern NJ there were zero quantiles of our most coveted shape shifter, but tons of Magik, the previous exclusive.  Maybe they show as the same SKU online but I left discouraged.  Today as I was running an errand, I went to a location close to my home which online stated that it was out of stock.  As I did on my last stops, I asked for assistance and found a supervisor, who told me that he had put some out on Saturday. I had a momentary WTF moment especially after I spoke to another mgr yesterday from the same store who told me that they had never seen to figure before.  This mgr offered to check in the back and after five minutes………. (angels singing) he came out with Mystique in hand.  The moral here is don’t be discouraged but ask the right person and you might get lucky.

  13. Hasbro has knocked it out of the park with their reveals from 2019  NY Toy Fair. If you are loving the 90's  X-Men then you are in heaven with the additions of Colossus and Nightcrawler, to the already known releases of the Professor X in the Riders series and the Caliban wave .  Thankfully I was able to have already ordered Prof. X from Dorkside toys, but was late to the game on the Hasbro Pulse site.  By the time I went to the site last night, Beast was sold out.   My consolation was that Jubilee, Gambit and Forge were still available.  Here's to finishing off my X-Men Blue and Gold teams.  I went to Amazon and snagged the Magneto, Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch 3 PK from Amazon because I have an 1970's Avengers team to fill out.  In addition, the 80 years Iron Man, Thor and Captain America figures looked solid as well. As Toy Shiz said, I might have to take out a second mortgage to afford all these figures
