If it has comic figures though, I want them to just go crazy with different Deadpools. Pirate Deadpool was one of my favorite figures in the last wave.

If they go that route then I'd want the rainbow Deadpools like they released in the Marvel Universe wave: Solo (green), Slapstick (yellow) and Foolkiller (blue). They already did the purple Terror figure years ago for the Marvel Unlimited exclusive.

Johnny in the comic is the same age as Spider-man. Thus why their friendship has lasted so long. So yes a he is a bit too old for the role.

Ok, that's fair but the actor is still almost 2 full decades younger than the actors playing Reed and Ben....  like he could almost be Reed's kid rather than his brother-in-law, LOL! He's also only 2 years older than Tom Holland in real life --- so they're basically the same age, right? I understand where you're coming from, though.

Joseph Quinn does seem to be a bit old for Johnny but I'm sure they will make it work, I only am familiar with him from Stranger Things,

I'm not a huge fan of the actor, but the dude just turned 30 last month - how young do you want him to be? 😉 So in real life that puts him 6 years younger than Vanessa who is playing Sue, and significantly younger that Pedro and Ebon who are both in their late 40's (just like me). Not picking on you, because I certainly didn't know either - but he just did somewhat recently play a high school kid (although held back) in Stranger Things, after all! Maybe it was the long 80's hair that made him seem so much older.

  4. We all likely had our fantasy castings that we would have liked to have seen for this role, but overall this seems ok. Pedro Pascal as Reed is the highlight and the only one that I'm super happy about. I really liked Moss-Bachrach as Microchip in the Punisher Netflix series and he was also good in a brief role on Andor, so I expect him to be reasonably good as Ben Grimm. I thought that Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn were just ok at best in their roles in Mission Impossible/Hobb&Shaw and Stranger Things, respectively - which are the only projects that I know them from. From what I've read, Invisible Woman is really expected to be the center of this and main lead role for this movie so Vanessa will have to impress. I'm not going to lie and say that I wouldn't have preferred Margot Robbie in that role. We'll see. At this point I'm not taking anything for granted with Disney and the MCU as it seems likes everything could change again at a moment's notice or not happen at all. I've gotten the impression that Disney is not at all happy with recent returns on investment from both Marvel and Star Wars and are going to be a lot less likely to green light anything the slightest bit questionable going forward.

  5. It's still seems weird to me that this is the only MCU proper movie that we're getting this year, although understandable due to the writers' and actors' strikes. It's also still weird to consider Ryan Reynolds Deadpool and Hugh Jackman Wolverine as MCU proper. This is the ONLY movie that I'm even somewhat looking forward to in all of 2024. Although I'm sure that I'll watch Sony's Madame Web, Kraven and Venom 3 all at some point, it likely won't be until they hit streaming. Maybe I'll see Venom 3 in the movie theater but certainly not going that route for Madame Web or Kraven. Overall it's likely going to be a pretty boring year for content compared to the rest of the past decade.

  6. Hmmm, I'm not sure how I feel about this. I'm not loving that animated look for Daredevil but have mixed feelings on Hydro Man.

I have the two previous attempts at Hydro Man, but "might" like this one better. It doesn't have the pinless tech, which is a downer but I don't honestly expect another attempt at Hydro Man again anytime soon. I might have to bite on this one, currently undecided. It's likely that I'll go ahead and pre-order and watch for early online reviews before it hits.

  7. Honestly for a reasonable price I would have likely considered this. $135 for a ten inch figure is not something that I consider reasonable. That's fine, I'm perfectly happy with the Toy Biz box set version in my display for now. I'm sure that Hasbro will get around to giving us an update at some point. I honestly thought that a 3-pack with the MCU Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing and Elsa Bloodstone would have been a slam dunk for Hasbro, but I guess not. They even could have a done a black and white variant set. One could have been an Amazon exclusive and the other a Pulse exclusive, but whatever.

  8. In general I find that my personal enjoyment of movies is almost always directly the opposite of "critics". I thoroughly enjoyed most of the movies on the "Razzies" list whereas you couldn't pay me to ever sit and watch many of the Oscar nominated films (like Oppenheimer for example). It is what it is, people have different tastes. Fortunately there is still a lot of stuff that gets made for all of us to enjoy.

I just finished season 2 and overall I enjoyed it and thought it was better than season 1. From what I have heard though season 3 will be the final season.

That seems likely. I've gotten the impression that Disney has decided that it's not profitable to produce content exclusively for Disney+ so once they release everything that's complete (or currently near the end of development), that will probably be it for original content for their streaming channel.... or at the very least it will be released far less often. It will be interesting to see their strategy as they fully integrate D+ and Hulu. This is disappointing to me because I feel like if I'm paying a monthly subscription fee that they should have at least one new episode of either a Marvel or Star Wars show every single week of the year. However they seem to have a problem with maintaining quality as they increase quantity. I don't really care about anything else Disney related outside of those two properties. Now that Echo and What If are over and there seems to be nothing on the immediate horizon, I think it's time for me to dump my subscription for a bit. I've had it every month since it was first introduced, but I just don't see any reason to pay when there's no new content coming soon and I never re-watch anything a 2nd time. I'll probably re-subscribe when X-Men '97 hits.

  10. I usually love these leaked lists but this year's is pretty disappointing to me personally so far. After what I considered a stellar 2023 where we got around 50 new characters making their very first appearance in the line, all I really see in these leaks is re-dos, re-makes or different versions of what has come before. Now while it's likely that I'll buy a bunch of these to replace existing versions with, I will NEVER be excited about a purchasing another version of ANY character that I've already bought a figure of in the past. So far the only 2024 figures that I'm genuinely excited about are Hallow's Eve, Maydelyne Pryor and X-Cutioner who have been confirmed and then Destiny and Nefaria who have been leaked. I've already got at least one version of every other single character specifically called out on that list. As a consumer I never feel good about buying the same product over and over just to sell the older version for pennies on the dollar compared to what I paid for it. I understand that recycling the A-listers is always going to be necessary to keep the line alive, but I do hope that they find ways to mix in new characters like they seemed to in 2023. That X-Men comic wave last year where 6 of the 8 figures (including the BAF Ch'od) had never been done before was one of my favorite waves in a very long time, and it also just happened to include at least 4 of my most 20 most wanted figures. I'd really like to see more of that, personally. I'm sure that there are plenty of people who will continue to buy more versions of Spider-Man, Wolverine, Cap, Venom, etc. - however I find it unlikely that I could ever get excited about a new figure of any of those characters at this point. I feel like I've already spent enough $$$ on figures of those characters at this point.

I do hope that we finally get a Jim Hammond Human Torch in that rumored Strange Tales wave, though!

  11. Thank you, Jay for sharing your Top 5 list and all of those juicy rumors!

Personally my Legends buying actually picked up in 2023 as by my count we had right around 50 characters released for the first time ever in the line last year and that's what I'm always most enthused about. I'll often buy the re-do's if they're real improvements --- but I never, ever feel good about buying another version of a character that I've bought before in the past. Since I've been in on the line since the very beginning (all the way back to Spidey Classics and the first X-Men movie figures both starting in the year 2000 before the "Legends" branding technically existed), it's a real treat to get anything new after more than 20 years of collecting.

My favorites from this past year were: 5) Karnak, 4) Chamber, 3) Kid Omega, 2) Monet St. Croix and 1) Aunt May. The Ch'od comic X-Men wave was easily my favorite wave of the year.

The figures that I'd most like to see in 2024 or beyond are 5) Robbie Robertson, 4) Armor, 3) Anole, 2) Pixie and 1) Rockslide.

I hope that everyone has a terrific 2024 and that everyone gets their top want from the line this year!

  12. I've seen lots of people here and elsewhere talking about how else they can use those wings from Angel for additional variants of this figure and for other characters like Mimic. I expect that Hasbro will wait to see how this sells before attempting to do anything additional with those wings (especially for a lesser known character like Mimic, for example). Do we even know a projected price-point on this yet? My guess would be something around $35. Thirty-something seems realistic. The absolute floor is of course the price of a regular figure at $25, which seems incredibly unlikely. The absolute ceiling they could probably realistically ask is $60 similar to Blob/Cyborg Spider-Woman, but that thankfully is probably even less likely than the floor. I could see them trying to price him like a 2-pack at around $50 like they did with Hawkeye and the SkyCycle - but hopefully they know that's too high. I'll stick with my $35 estimate, but I could certainly see them doing $40 and I'd still pay it for sure.

I do think that we're going to see far smaller runs of everything they produce, so waiting on sales may be a fool's game in the future. Only time will tell, but I'm expecting that we won't be seeing anywhere near as much product produced from this point forward ending up at places like Ollie's, Ross and Kids Warehouse or sticking around long enough to be liquidated at 50% off at places like Target like they have the last couple of years. I also think we'll continue to see brick and mortar retailers like Target/Walmart continue to get even more selective about what they stock, and how much of it. I live in a town with a population of around 80,000 in a county of around 750,000. My town has one Super Target and one SuperWalmart but there are several more of both within the county, all within a 10-15 minute drive. The Walmart in my town didn't stock any Legends in between the Black Panther Legacy wave (which they still have on the pegs) and The Marvels movies wave and both of those hit long after they'd been in stock at online retailers. My Target got plenty of the Avengers Anniversary stuff but completely skipped the Puff Adder and Ch'od waves altogether. I've definitely learned from experience not to necessarily to expect to see anything stocked locally - and expect that only to get worse in the future. Does what I'm experiencing locally match what others are seeing elsewhere?

If they've got enough stinkers like Darwin left lying around they wanna get rid of, they might pull something like that.

I actually really like the Darwin figure! 😁 I might be the only one who liked it, but I thought that it was a winner! I bought a bunch of Darwin and Vulcan both from that wave when then hit sub-$10 clearance prices to use for custom fodder.

I mostly hate the entire idea of multi-packs, whether they be 2-packs or more than that, but I also understand that we've gotten a lot of figures that way that we probably would have never seen otherwise.

  14. Maddy and X-Cutioner are still my favorites of what was shown today. Planning on buying that entire X-Men '97 Wave 2 except Magneto.

I have mixed feelings on the 2-packs. The Brood Wolverine thing caught me off guard as I wasn't expecting that and I don't really know that story. Really like the Lilandra though and she's definitely my favorite figure from the 2-packs. I'll buy the Sabreooth/Logan and JoeFixit/Patch 2-packs as well, but I can't say that I have a ton of enthusiasm about them - they look about exactly as I expected and I'll be happy to have them but nothing exceptional about them. Sabretooth will be a nice upgrade, though. The Lady Mandarin look for Psyclocke was a real surprise and now I'll likely skip that particular 2-pack, and I feel like it wasn't that long ago that the retro card version of that Wolverine was on clearance everywhere for $5.

Love the Red Widow, she's a must buy. Angel looks great with those large wonderful wings. He'll also be a nice upgrade.

Will be skipping the store exclusive Caps and the MCU retreads as I have no interest in those. Hail Hydra Cap is the only of those that is the slightest bit tempting.

All in all, some very interesting stuff. I really love Madelyne, Lilandra, X-Cutioner and Red Widow, probably in that order. Angel, Sabretooth and the other X-Men '97 figures are just varying levels of improvement on what came before and while I'm thankful for those improvements I really dislike re-purchasing characters.
