I'm very glad that I didn't bother buying the first iteration of MODOK. I chose to stick with my ToyBiz BAF at that time, but this guy honestly makes a fun alternative (and comes fully assembled unlike the regular version) and The Captain is a must have for me so I would have likely bought just for him anyway. I know that the MODOK assembly issue isn't really a big deal - but I do prefer solid figures to BAFs... (am I the only one who struggled getting the Theta Sentinel heads to go on??) I have absolutely no interest in that Venom, though.

This is beautifully done. Honestly, I'm just not feeling it like I did the Sentinel, though. It may come down to what stretch goal incentives end up being included. I also have to decide if selling my Toy Biz BAF version to pay for nearly half of this new one appeals to me (assuming that the market for that doesn't tank now - currently I figure I could get $150 pretty easily for it).

I'll hold judgement until after the reveal, but as someone who bought 3 of the HasLab Sentinels, I think that I'm likely going to pass on this one. I still have both the Toy Biz BAF Galactus and the Hasbro Infinite Galactus, and I think it's likely that I just stick with those rather than shell out $400 here.... but we'll see.

Personally I'm still holding out hope for Mole Man's Giganto the Mole Monster with a new Mole Man figure and Moloids!! This might even be a weak opportunity for an Eternals / F4 crossover because I believe the Mole Man really came to be by using the lost/forgotten Deviants' (or at least Kro's) technology and monsters, right? That classic first issue cover is still what I think about when I first think of the Fantastic Four with Giganto holding on to Sue.... maybe even some small 3D diorama pieces included.... or maybe Willie Lumpkin or Mobius comic figures as enticements.... I definitely want teenage Franklin and Valeria though too... but maybe they could come in a 3-pack with a comic version of Agatha Harkness (and perhaps even HERBIE again too?)?

Marvel Legends Infinity Saga Figures in-Hand looks
Reno replied to JayC's topic in Marvelous News's General Area
I'm mostly a comic figure collector, and only tend to get the MCU versions if there hasn't bee a comic version made. So, of this group, Surtur is the definite must have for me. I'm still on the fence for the Iron Monger / Obadiah. It's cool, but that's a big price tag (but I'll probably get it). I'm definitely out on Quicksilver and Odin. That MCU Odin just looks so undersized and I love the comic version BAF I already have anyway. I still wish we could get the Warriors Three.... -

Wow, now that's a big boy! Looking forward to getting him. -
Not really feeling any of these, honestly. The JK Simmons as J Jonah Jameson is interesting and would make nice civilian fodder. Simmons is an absolutely fantastic actor but I prefer the comic based JJJ they did in the retro wave recently. I agree with others that Electro is likely the remaining unknown figure - but I still can't help to hope it's actually Wong. How funny would that be to get Wong in a Spider-Man wave?? But hey, if Dr. Strange is in it... Is that black and gold drone in the lego set supposed to be repainted drones that Iron Man left (from the last movie) or something different? Could they do something like that for the BAF? If Scorpion is in this movie, I could totally see him being the BAF. Right now I don't expect to buy any of these unless I can find a discounted JJJ figure to use as civilian fodder.

The Trial That Threatens To Divide Mutantkind
Reno replied to JayC's topic in Marvelous News's General Area
It seems like the best villains always end up playing the hero (or anti-hero) role at some point - and sometimes permanently. Magneto is just one example. Venom, Deadpool, Doctor Doom, Doctor Octopus, Red Hulk, Black Cat, etc...... -

Marvel Legends 6" Darkstar Figure Video Review And Images

I love this figure and am excited to add it! As far as the comment above as to the lack of comic female curviness in recent history, while I certainly understand it, I still agree that it's disappointing. As a point of comparison, I don't feel like they've had to tone down the over the top musculature of the male heroes. However, when these figures are at mass retail stores, this is just the way it's going to be. There are really only certain figures where it's really an issue. Like, I'd love a Madelyne Pryor Goblin Queen figure but, uh, I'd expect her to be comic accurate. -

I'm pretty happy with my ToyBiz version, but I would be interested in seeing a side-by-side of the two... -
These are great, but that same $420 would likely buy 3 full Hasbro Marvel Legends waves. I splurged on the Mezco Black Bolt / Lockjaw ($130) combo because I was so desperate for that super cool Lockjaw, but in general these are too pricey for me (and that's coming from someone who ordered 3 HasLab Sentinels!). I'm sure they'll look great displayed for whomever decides to spend the $$$ though! Now if they had also included teenage versions of Franklin and Valeria for that price then I might have been more tempted.... personally I think that Hasbro could do a wave with all 6 of those characters with BAF parts for a Fantasticar and sell the whole wave for 1/3rd of this price (certainly wouldn't include all those other extras though). That's what they should have done instead of the Super Skrull wave (in my opinion). Or if they needed to spread the parts for the vehicle out more, then do a 7/8 figure wave (Doom? Alicia?). Hasbro spread Fin Fang Foom out over 2 waves in their early days, so hypothetically that could be an option too if necessary - and there's certainly no shortage of F4/FF character they could use. Thinking through this just makes me all the more curious about the F4 themed HasLab offering (assuming that it's not just Galactus as most seem to expect). I'm personally still kind of hoping for a super deluxe Giganto the Mole Monster along with a new Mole Man and some Moloids/Subterraneans for the HasLab item.

Marvel Legends 6" Miles Morales Gamerverse Figure Revealed
Reno replied to JayC's topic in Marvelous News's General Area
I was in Walgreens last week and stopped to see if they had gotten Nova and/or Quasar. What I found instead was that all Marvel Legends were on clearance for $9.99. Of course all that they had were the MCU Wasp and Spider-Woman from the Lizard BAF wave. Somebody must have finally bought the Malekith figure. It had only been those same 3 figures there for probably most of the past year.... I'm kind of expecting that they're not ordering any more.... reinforcing the fact that Walgreens is the worst possible store for exclusives.. -
Marvel Legends 6" Miles Morales Gamerverse Figure Revealed
Reno replied to JayC's topic in Marvelous News's General Area
Sigh. I still really just want a Mister Negative figure from the last Spider-Man game... and it seems like it would be so easy to do.... they did a 3.75" one already, why not a 6"? -
I agree that this wave looks great. I'm personally most stoked about the new characters Ironheart, Gaurdsman, Ursa Major and Darkstar - but the Iron Men and Ultron are well done also, and I'll be happy to have all in my collection. With that being said I really hope that there is never another wave with 3 versions of the same character in it ever again like they did with Tony in this one - or at least not a BAF wave.

Marvel Legends Walmart Exclusive Compound Hulk Revealed
Reno replied to JayC's topic in Marvelous News's General Area
I still really want a Rick Jones blue A-Bomb. They made one for the 3.75" line and I've been hoping for a 6" version ever since! That's probably my #1 want from a Hulk characters standpoint. I'd love Zzzax also. I'm still bummed that Hasbro apparently never released that Lyra variant of Red She-Hulk in the Hit-Monkey wave that they showed on the packaging. I've got undersized Bi-Beast and Ironclad figures that came out around one of the Hulk movies for a video game. They're probably both just a little under 6" tall each but certainly not scaled to Legends. I'd love to replace those.... -
Marvel Legends Walmart Exclusive Compound Hulk Revealed
Reno replied to JayC's topic in Marvelous News's General Area
Reminds me somewhat of the Composite Superman character that was half Superman / half Batman. So, what's next for this mold? AOA Orange Hulk? Weapon H? Wouldn't really work for Amadeus Cho's Brawn/Totally Awesome Hulk which I'm mildly surprised hasn't been made yet.... but wouldn't shock me if they just did a new head sculpt and painted on a tank top or something.... Generation X's Mondo? Something like they did for the 5" line (pictured below): Regardless, it's clear they're going to milk this one!!
