  1. Something feels.... not quite right with that face sculpt. Iunno if Mezco is well suited to doing figures from the Spider-Verse movies.
  2. Oh, right; the tweet I saw that I first learned about the reprints from made a direct connection between the two and made it sound like Joe had just left, so I forgot it's been like two years already. I still think Joe leaving is a major factor given as far as I'm aware he's the reason we stopped getting Marvel-DC collaborations, but it's probably not quite so direct and definitely not as immediate as I was thinking.
  3. It seems to possibly be related to the fact Joe Quesada just left Marvel (and possibly to a lesser extent, the fact Dan DiDio left DC)
  4. I was disappointed with the complete sculpt reuse on Hasbro's most recent Classic Stealth, but at least on that one they did a really good thing with the color choice and made it two V E R Y deep and metallic, nearly-black shades of blue (if you don't have it in person, trust me, it's even darker than the pictures can really portray, it looks quite good), so at least colorwise they kinda got it right imo. This MAFEX one is the same "navy and cyan" nonsense that's been going on since..... man, I can't even remember what started the specific "navy-to-royal blue and cyan" thing.
  5. iunno that i'd call Netflix-style "making all episodes available to subscribers simultaneously", definitively the worst release model for a television series, an """""achievement"""""
  6. Oh great, more layoffs. Never feasible for the CEO and other execs to, iunno, take a smaller paycheck for a while to weather bad financial storms, noooope, gotta snip hundreds or thousands of peoples' livelihoods to keep the company afloat. There's simply no other way!
  7. I think the comic version was a decently mangey messed-up mutt in his first appearances: but it got lost on subsequent appearances for some reason.
  8. Years ago I used to not like this suit very much, but now I've really come to appreciate how simple and clean the color scheme is; this'd be the only movie Iron Man suit to actually have solid gold upper arms (even despite the big silver bit on the bicep) and thighs until the Mark 85, and even then it does it cleaner than the 85. Shaping and details are really neat, too; distinctive, and similarly not overcluttered.
  9. Little disappointed that the blue on that Holland Spidey suit is so dark relative to the very bright and shiny blue in the movie, but figure overall still looks quite good. Best proportions we've yet seen on a Holland Spidey I think.
  10. What retailer was gonna actually order a 24" Giant-Man for $200 (MAYBE like, $170, taking economies of scale with a larger production run into account), and let it take up a significant portion of shelf real estate, when those 12-inch Marvel Legends all mostly shelfwarmed a few years back? THAT is where the unfeasibility is.
  11. Hopefully one of the people with this Talos figure can take a picture of Black Series Director Krennic with the human Talos head on, to see if it fits and would be a good replacement for that figure's original Ben Mendolsohn head, as well as a side by side between human Talos and Krennic to see more directly how the size of the new Ben head compares with Krennic's older one
  12. Oooh, that looks good. Hope however she releases that they also rerelease that male SHIELD army builder 2-pack as well, since that got bought up pretty quickly IIRC
  13. Man, that Iron Monger mold actually makes for a pretty dang good Detroit Steel, huh
  14. I get why the director would think to use AI for the opening credits, for that kinda "shifting, shwoobly effect", but not only does it undercut real artists...... it also just looks really bad. Like, it does not look good at all. From start to finish, every picture that shwoobles across the screen in that intro just simply looks bad. They easily could've hired real artists to create something to a similar effect AND have it look good.
  15. Well, it's actually not too bad compared to most recent Frank Miller works... Every time I see modern Frank Miller art I can't help but be reminded of this long Tumblr post I saw years ago by comics artist James Harvey, going into detail about how Frank's art in the past couple decades isn't even bad, but just horrendously mis-served by the colorists often doing a modern, standard, vaguely realistic-ish style; he recolored a bunch of Frank Miller covers and DKR2 interior art in a much flatter, abstract, almost graphic design-ish style that makes it look WAY better. It's a really interesting read: https://phillip-bankss.tumblr.com/post/143800556669/theory-frank-millers-recent-work-is-good-but-it
  16. I can kinda understand people not fond of the overall aesthetic of the costume, but the opposition to there being a jacket at all is deeply confusing. So many other superheroes, especially those with very physical fighting styles, have worn jackets, and yet this is the first time people say it's impractical?
  17. Weblines on the forehead look a little odd, somehow. Not sure exactly how to describe it, and looking back at the Hot Toys figure of this suit it's definitely a Figuarts problem rather than with the suit itself.
  18. Wait, is Mania on a version of the teen mold with double elbows/a new teen girl mold with double elbows? Nice, good to see Hasbro continuing to proliferate double elbows to female bodytypes/heights other than the Shriek mold.
  19. Man those Tobey and Andrew Spideys look nice.... articulation-wise, proportionally, sculpt, they look nearly perfect imo. Still not sure I'll get this pack though, I'll wait til the single-pack versions that IIRC were in the leaked listings way back, hoping against hope they'll have unmasked heads....
  20. Why is the unmasked head so pale??? Also, like most recent Figuarts Spider-figures, the texturing is too.... large? Either too large or too deeply-set. So it feels really visually busy.
  21. Eh, I feel like it's more "this is what clothing actually looks like on breasts" rather than "censorship". If it were """censorship""" they woulda like, made 'em smaller or something. If anything the sculpted stretching of the fabric calls attention to the breasts slightly more than the "painted-on" cleavage sculpt did.
