  1. Agreed as far as Hasbro goes. They just do not have the hang of it and it's not getting any better. However, I don't dislike cel-shaded decos per se. NECA's nailing it on their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line. Those things are beautiful. Their "pixelated" decos on their video game figures look awesome too, though I don't own any of those. Unpopular opinion: I don't like the build-a-figure system in its current form. It made sense way back when it was first introduced in the legends line with Galactus. It was innovative, exciting, and added exceptional value to the figures. All of the figures in those ToyBiz BAF waves were comic-based, so that folks who weren't interested in movie or video game based characters didn't have to deal with getting a BAF piece that came with a figure outside their collection parameters. And then, of course, there's the scale. We went from a 16" Galactus and Sentinel to Brood Queen and Blob to Puck and Jubilee. Even ToyBiz's M.O.D.O.K. and Mojo were good values to my mind. Hasbro's Super-Skrull was not. Hasbro gutted and frustrated the system until it was a detriment to the line in my opinion. They should ditch it entirely at this point. Characters like AOA Colossus or Wendigo or Demogoblin should be carded (or boxed if that's were we're heading) and the value of the BAF pieces should be reinvested into more and better figure accessories. Characters too large to be carded (Mojo, Giant-Man, etc.) should be released in some kind of deluxe format like their M.O.D.O.K. was.
  2. I used to be so self-conscious about this as well, thinking to myself about trying to not look like a shoplifter and then fearing that trying not to made me look more like a shoplifter. ...And then I turned 40 last year and a magical thing happened: I almost completely stopped caring what anyone else thinks about me. Especially strangers. I feel like I could go about my day wearing a giant hot dog costume and I would forget I even had it on by lunch. I think when I turn 80 I'll probably stop caring enough to actually start shoplifting! 😝 I highly recommend getting old.
  3. Got him! Thank you!! Limit one per customer, too. Thanks for doing something to fight the pirates!
  4. Hey guys, looks like S.H.I.E.L.D. 2-packs are on Pulse for premium members right now. Is this news or have they been available all along? Never mind. Sorry. They let you get all the way to checkout before they tell you it's out of stock.
  5. Oof. Same. I wish they would charge me when I place the pre-order like NECA does. Especially since the estimated and actual release dates are wildly different sometimes.
  6. Skrulls are apparently on the way along with my S.H.I.E.L.D. troopers. I've got five of those BEMs coming. There's going to be a big S.H.I.E.L.D./Skrulls dust-up happening on the ol' bookshelf later this week!
  7. Well, only because I'm fully inoculated against cooties will I agree. I think this would be a great place to release either She-Hulk in one of her classic uniforms (Avengers, Fantastic Four), Crystal, or Sersi. Those three feel like the most outstanding to me at the moment.
  8. No mistake, comrade! A lab coat with the switch-out arms routine would be nice, but the way things have been going lately, they may just include a new head or two and put it out at that Hulk price point. (And boy, do I hate saying that.) You know what I'm pulling for on the Sentinel? A 10"-12" first appearance number. If done well, I would have to get at least three!
  9. There's nothing negative about constructive criticism. Your points are valid and I agree with you. I was going to get six of the seven. Now I'm down to two or three. There's an excellent chance I may sit the wave out entirely now out of apathy. Well, 80% apathy and 20% spite.
  10. What are the chances of this one actually getting to Walgreens shelves in most of the U.S.? I'm not being pissy or rhetorical, I'm genuinely curious if there's any news or rumors about what's been going on. I never saw Nova, Quasar, or Binary. Snagged Nova from the website, at least. Are we still waiting on Quasar and/or Binary or should I just move on with my life? Are we likely to just never see any of this year's exclusives anywhere in the Midwest, or is there reason to believe things will go better this year? I'd really love to get that Zemo...
  11. Thanks for that. Makes a little more sense. I was playing around on the Bureau of Labor Statistic's website yesterday and I'm still not convinced that the price increase for Marvel Legends from 2002 to 2022 is commensurate with that of most other commodities, but I also admit I'm not on the front lines the way someone like you is. Either way, I'm going to be dialing back along with most of the other posters in here. Twenty-five dollars is really starting to push it for a lot of the what Hasbro is putting out. They're definitely wowing me with a lot of figures recently (Bonebreaker, Hammerhead, the new Spider-Man buck, etc.), but they've also been either fumbling the ball or phoning it in on too many other things. I'm thinking here of that Invisible Woman face, Mr. Fantastic's wierd stretchy fingers (when they've already invested in the much better stretchy arms!) and painting on details that really need to be sculpted, e.g., Loki's scale mail. They've gone to the well way to often on most of their energy effect pieces. Introducing just a few more into the rotation would have gone a long, long way to making that less egregious. The lack of diversity in the female bucks is actually getting worse than it already was. Too many women don't feel substantial enough and they look horribly uniform when they're next to each other on the shelf. And now Hasbro's backpedaling on the few that were on the larger end of the scale! Age of Apocalypse Rogue and Binary are now much smaller/thinner than previous iterations of those same characters!? I don't get it. I used to buy everything up until the dark days, circa 2007-2013 or so. And I've been buying just about every comic-based figure as a matter of course since the Mandroid wave revival 8 years ago, but they're going to have to make a better case for most of their figures going forward. I'm looking at the Legion that I just put on my shelf as I type this and he's a cool-ass figure. But he's not worth $25. Not today.
  12. Do you have a source on that? I can't find any news or journal articles describing that scecnario. It's a fundamental law of economics that lower demand for a product drives prices down, not the other way around. I'd be interested to know why this case seems to be the inverse of that.
  13. Wait. You're contending that a lower demand for plastic is driving the price for it up? Am I misunderstanding you?
  14. Got my Sleepwalker and D'Spayre pre-orders in. They look great! I'm going to pass on the Hulk The colors look great and I like the base, but the head sculpt(s) was going to be my deciding factor and I'm just not feeling them enough. I wonder, given the gold Manroid head, if they're thinking of revisiting the old BAF in a different color scheme. Hope so! Pretty ballsy to show off two of next year's Walgreens exclusives when it's December and many (most?) of us haven't gotten Quasar or Binary stocked anywhere near us yet. How much longer is this going to go on? Can't wait to get frustrated over Ulik as well. That X-Men lineup was the most exciting thing for me today. Bonebreaker looks crazy good! I love the new Havok power effects as well. Surely Siryn is going to have an alternate head, right? ...right!?
  15. I'm hoping for a screaming-with-rage head. That's probably the only way they'll get me to buy another classic green Hulk.
  16. Lol, no, this was just the most egregious to date. They looked really impressive stacked up on the front porch. Whatever, TOYS! Whoo!
  17. Looks like a wild ride, for sure. I wonder why Doc Ock has red arms at times. Also, no hint at either version of Venom. He's noticeably absent.
  18. Robo does that right about the 4:50 mark here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G026FsV6ZiE
  19. I've been trying every few minutes for about a half hour now. I kept getting an "unexpected error" message. Anyway, I finally got it to go through with shipping to my local store. We'll see if it gets canceled. If anyone out there is trying, maybe try shipping to your local store? Good luck! Update: just got a shipping notification and tracking number. I'm a little surprised.
