  1. Saw this at Walmart. Ursa Major BAF piece removed, so Darkstar is reduced ten dollars. So... doesn't that suggest the retro-carded figures who don't come with BAF pieces should all be $12.99?
  2. The novels Dracula and Frankenstein are in the public domain, yes. However, specific interpretations of the characters, such as those visualized in movies and comics are trademarked by those companies. For example, the classic depiction of the monster with neck bolts and the flat topped head dramatized by Boris Karloff is copyrighted by Universal Studios. They can do this because nowhere in Shelley's original novel does she describe the monster having neck bolts or flat hair like that. That's why Marvel and DC Comics have both adapted the character differently, and both of their versions are copyrighted by Marvel and DC. So Hasbro can absolutely make a toy of Frankenstein's monster, as long as it looks like how Mike Ploog originally drew him in the '70s and not how the character looked in movies in the 1940s. And yes, that means you can make your own version of Dracula, too, for a movie, comic, TV show, whatever, as long as he doesn't look like Bela Lugosi or too much like how Gene Colan drew him, or the new armored Marvel version.
  3. They've repainted and re-released the 80th anniversary Hulk, like, four times already, but they've never changed his bottom half. This could be the time to release a version with purple trunks and bare legs that he had at the end of the Bill Mantlo run when he became smart Hulk for the first prolonged period and then in through the short John Byrne run. I also really want this ^^^ version of Boomerang. Could go in a retro Spidey wave to complete the original Deadly Foes lineup.
  4. He acted as the Avengers' government liaison for years and infamously oversaw the "rule" that Avengers teams could have no more than seven members at a time.
  5. Even with the increased size of the riders series package, I thought splitting Professor X's chair in half looked terrible.
  6. Oh yeah, they were sold out again within eight hours of me posting that. 🤷‍♂️
  7. With all this speculation, we really could use a Hasbro livestream to reveal this wave in all its glory, right? Am I the only one who feels like they haven't done a livestream in forever?!!
  8. Well, the ToyBiz Hawkeye came with a sky-cycle, did he not? If they are doing a bunch of characters like that for the 20th anniversary of the Marvel Legends brand, we might see a new Hawkeye in that fashion.
  9. Very cool picture, and additional proof that the retro card Iceman needed better effects and better hands than just the fists.
  10. Just a head's up, HasbroPulse has the Hydra Trooper back in stock. No, it's not the brand new Skrulls or S.H.l.E.L.D. agents, but it does serve as a reminder that they do restock these exclusive troop builders a couple times a year.
  11. Well, when you put it that way it sounds perfect for a HasLab project, doesn't it?
  12. Very, very much this. If there's a retro-carded Iron Man wave in our future, or that fabled Avengers wave or whatever, this should be the centerpiece of the wave.
  13. This is one of my top three. I love the look of the retro-carded blue and white Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman, but they both leave something to be desired. Invisible Woman - just fix her head, please. New face sculpt and better hair, ideally shorter. I wouldn't be opposed to some semi-transparent limbs like the Walgreens version had too. Mr. Fantastic - stretched torso, arms, and legs are a must, a stretched neck would be fine. It would also be cool to give him some kind of crazy weapon, like a blaster rifle or bazooka Ant-Man - classic Hank Pym. Retro Spider-Man body, improved helmet, interchangeable unmasked head; jet pack, ants, miniature Ant-Man accessories
  14. I don't keep the figures on their cards so the retro card design doesn't matter for me, I just happen to really like the figures we've gotten in this sub-line. I've got classic Spider-Man, Electro, Green Goblin, Kingpin, Black Cat, and Spider-Man 2099. I've pre-ordered everyone in the new wave except for Armored Spider-Man. I go back and forth on whether I want to get Jamison, Gwen, and Cyborg Spidey. More Spider-Man characters I want: The Lizard Spider-Girl (Mayday) Chameleon Six-armed Spider-Man (improved) Tarantula Tombstone (suited) The Rose The Spot The Enforcers (Montana, Fancy Dan, and Ox) Bagman Spider-Man Noir Spider-Man 1602 Venom (same as the new retro one without the red and blue accents) Sssstegron
  15. I think they could do some of the texturing effect they did on the new Surtur figure for Swarm. That and some very skillful paint apps could give the illusion of the living swarm of bugs. But holy hell, it would be a lot of work for them.
  16. You can pre-order the re-released 80th anniversary version from Big Bad Toy Store: https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/105182 or Dork Side Toys: https://dorksidetoys.com/collections/marvel/products/marvel-legends-fan-channel-exclusive-retro-wave-deadpool-action-figure
  17. X-Men waves are never a huge draw for me; I just don't love the characters the way I used to. I still have fondness for the All-New, All-Different era, though, so I will happily get Havok if he's a classic version. Darwin? Mmmmaybe, probably not. And I'm good with the Wolverine and Sabretooth figures I have. So unless the remaining figures include Destiny, Kitty in her training suit, or first appearance Rogue, it's probably one figure for me out of the wave. ... Y'know, it occurs to me that I have a much higher completion record for waves that don't include build-a-figures. Both Marvel Universe vintage waves, the Fantastic Four retro wave, and 5/6 of the new Spidey wave (and if there was a BAF I would've gotten the sixth figure to complete it). Just my luck that the waves that don't include a bonus figure are the ones that appeal to me the most.
  18. Molten Man could be an easy repaint of Sub-Mariner with a new head and some of the Human Torch's flame effects.
  19. I think Mark Bagley always drawn Otto slimmer than he was in the early years. Maybe he went on Weight Watchers after breaking up with Aunt May.
  20. My most desired Spider-Man character now is a brand new classic Lizard. The fact that they have taken previous build-a-figures Sandman, Kingpin, and likely Rhino and re-released them on retro cards--and I'm especially focusing on the Sandman because they didn't just repackage him, they overhauled him. That's what I want from the Lizard. Chuck the inhuman dinosaur look; save that for Sssstegron. I want the Lizard more like how Ditko, Romita, Kane, etc. drew him. Some of this is favoritism because Lizard is probably my favorite Spidey villain and the figure shown below was my first Spider-Man toy back in the '90s. Other Spidey villains I would like on the retro cards is a new version of Chameleon. In this case, I don't want him in the blue tactical suit that he wore in the animated series that they made a toy of in the '90s. I want him wearing the purple smoking jacket with the yellow ascot. I'm also all for a Tarantula figure that seems like a popular request these days. Bring him on. I also wouldn't mind another version of Doc Ock, but truthfully I only want new bendable tentacles.
