The Best Of 2019 - Marvel Legends Kingpin Build-A-Figure
DJ_Ole replied to JayC's topic in Marvelous News's General Area
With so many Marvel Legends released in 2019, I decided to pick and chose what I will buy. I skipped on his wave, non of the figures got my attention nor desire to have them. The BAF really looks cool, but I don't want to pay that high price of the second market. Hasbro will re-release this BAF, with different paint app in 2020. So I'll just practice my patience. -
I'm just going to go crazy here: 10 Malekith & Kurse 2-pack 9 Kingpin & Iron fist 2-pack 8 Deadpool, Cable & Domino 3-pack 7 Warriors Three 3-pack 6 Iron man 85 with gauntlet, Captain Marvel short hair & Thanos End Game 3-pack 5 Odin, Heimdall in armor & Miek 3-pack 4 Whiplash, Mark V & Hammer drones 3-pack 3 The Ancient One & Wong 2-pack 2 Quicksilver 1 Endgame Thor and Iron Monger BAF We can dream, no?

Although I'm very happy that we got the updated Vulture figure, after seeing the review I somehow feel disappointed. When we see how good of a job they did with Dr.Doom, or Thor, or Mysterio, or Kraven, Lizard BAF or other re-releases, I'm left feeling like it could've been better. I have the Toybiz version, which I think still looks very good. I liked the sculpted lines on that figure, so I miss that on this one. And also I liked that he was hunched over. Anyway, I'm happy to complete my Hasbro sinister six, and very excited that new Falcon is coming.

Is Nostalgia Blindness a Problem?
DJ_Ole replied to tarot's topic in Marvel Legends Figure Discussion
I think I'm Nostalgia Blind when it comes to Hasbro using repaints or same pieces to make as much as possible new character/versions. If they give me a character that hits that Nostalgia spot, I will not care if it is crappy repaint or same arms, legs and torso over and over. I will be blind. I will also not want to see characters that don't hit the Nostalgia spot. However, if I think about for example Fortnite line of figures, or figures of Mezco or Storm collectables, I will want the characters that are not linked to Nostalgia. My Nostalgia Blindness goes down. So, I think yes, I'm Nostalgia Blind, it's easier for me to say I want that if there is some Nostalgia influence, but also Hasbro with their boring repaints and re-use are not helping to cure my blindness. -
When the wave was announced I was thinking I will be getting only the Dr. Doom, as I already have my Walgreens Fantastic 4. Now, looking at the reviews, I'm totally psyched to get the whole wave. And yes, this Dr.Doom looks amazing. Can't wait to get it in my hands. I'm only afraid that because it looks so good, I wont be able to find it till February.

2019 MCM Comic Con London Hasbro Marvel Panel
DJ_Ole replied to JayC's topic in Marvelous News's General Area
Thanks, that's exactly what got to me. It felt dismissive. Regarding Hogun, to be honest, I don't like when someone is saying who asked for this or that, but I figured he was joking, speaking in first person. -
2019 MCM Comic Con London Hasbro Marvel Panel
DJ_Ole replied to JayC's topic in Marvelous News's General Area
I don't understand this animosity towards MCU fans. What, like only the comics readers are worthy of having an opinion to which characters Hasbro should make? I was never a big Marvel comics fan. I watched a lot of animated series growing up and I'm a big MCU fan. I only started reading some comics due to interest coming from watching the shows. I do believe that Marvel survived thanks to TV and Cinema. They were going bankrupt with their comics. Isn't that the reason why they sold their properties to Sony, Fox, etc.? Comics were big in that golden age of comics, but we cannot deny now it's TV and Cinema that are more popular. So, this being a pop culture, I believe MCU fans have the same right to shape their desires and express their opinions as do comics fans. -
So beautiful, great work man.

Hey @Benn, thanks a million for making the list. Great work. You got me inspired to find a pic of each team member in their respective uniforms and make it visual. 🤪 What do you think, if Hasbro would to complete all the teams, how many years would it take?

Oh it's coming, and it's going to be epic. This is how you do it. That's how MCU started. Slowly, one by one, and then boom. -

I actually liked Venom, seen it couple of times. Nice, fun movie. Joker is also a good movie. I like all the super hero movies, and I will definitely support Venom 2. Gimme more! -
