John Romita Jr. Returns To Spider-Man
sentinelofliberty41 replied to JayC's topic in Marvelous News's General Area
Personally I wouldn't consider this good news. Jr's style does absolutely nothing for me and I usually prefer stylized artists vs photo realistic ones. Glad hes still getting work though, I know a lot of folks love him. -
I don't really know what to say that Hasbro couldn't get this figure right. It's an all white character with some black lines, how hard is that? Where's his signature diamond insignia on his chest? Why is there gray on him? I get that they're trying to break up the color but come on guys, just do those lines, that's all the break up needed. Also, that cape needs to go in the garbage pile. Its outdated and was crap when they first started using it let alone now. I might have been interested if this were done a little better but as it stands it'll be an easy pass.

I wish this was what had come in the 3 pack. I want to take a stand and cancel my preorder of this but my ocd won't let me since imo those colors elevate the figure so much. I do have to say, Hasbro's techniques for making us want to buy the same exact figure more than once are both clever and diabolic. I would still kill for a cut right above the waistline for some added articulation.

Marvel Legends Retro 3.75" Wave 5 Fully Revealed

All of this is absolutely correct. I can't agree more that there should be a standard amount of articulation regardless of how big or small the character. If 80th Hulk can have all that why can't the others? -
Marvel Legends Retro 3.75" Wave 5 Fully Revealed

I wish they would use a bigger body as well. I love that the Sunfire buck has the butterfly joint which makes flight poses an absolute thrill but Sam is a big guy. Sal always drew Falc and Cap the same size which made Sam all the more imposing even in the bird gear. I hope they get it right when the time comes but I expect the same exact figure with just an old school paint app and maybe a redwing slapped in there but I don't have high hopes for that either. -
Marvel Legends Retro 3.75" Wave 5 Fully Revealed

Falcon and Venom for me. Now if we could get a legend in the same vein as that Falcon I'll shut up. -
I passed on this one to hold out for his classic 70s outfit. I really hope I made the right call and it doesn't take years to get him.

Happy Thanksgiving From Marvelous News
sentinelofliberty41 replied to JayC's topic in Marvelous News's General Area
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. -
Absolutely, the face sculpts have been phenomenal. The Sue Storm in the Walgreens wave is legitimately beautiful so I can almost look the new one over. I agree about the "its good enough" sentiment. I'm not sure if it was the Toybiz days that brought that on or what but it does usually seem half-hearted. It just blows my mind that new lines like Classified and Lightning Collection have already done more for their female characters than Marvel.
-
Yeah, they're definitely taking baby steps forward instead of making strides but at least they're slowly getting there. I absolutely agree that this buck is great but it isn't going to fit every character. We need some variation and I really hope they figure that out. As you say, it's been 20 years and they still haven't quite gotten the ladies right. I really hope we get a waist swivel one of these days. There has to be a way to make that happen.
-
Couldn't agree more on what they should be capable of and they really have made some serious strides in the past few years. That said, that applies mostly to the male characters. The ladies are way behind. And absolutely, they do need to differentiate the different body types. The Moonstone buck had me in high hopes but that seems to be where they stopped advancing.
-
Do the pinless elbows help with the shape? To me the arms are one of my biggest complaints on the female buck as it makes the joint look so awkward. Also, it's time for a waist joint. I know it's a lot different due to a lot Marvel ladies having basically a painted body and no gear since it's simulated tights but Lady Jaye from the GI Joe line blows away any Marvel female in my collection except maybe Warbird but that's more a body type thing. Jaye just came out this year, the Legends have been around for a lot longer. That should not be the case.

I got my pre-orders in for Captain America and Scarlet Witch. Now if I can nab Zemo I'll be all set (yeah right.) I would definitely buy a white Vision since I love the character and try to get all his versions but this one just looks like crap. I don't know why they did all the weird coloring on this figure but it doesn't work. Sadly that one is a pass.
