  1. 'Natch. To be clear, I expect figures instead of faceplate would raise the retail, but I think it would've been a more compellimg and attractive package, that maybe wouldn't have been so touch and go until the final hours. Also...figures are something easier to sell off after purchase, if you want to reduce your personal cost. I bet there are those that just wanted Giant Man and didn't back this because there was nothing to dump onto eBay later. Only people who bought Giant Man will want a Zombie face, and they're already getting it.
  2. I would believe that a character won't be released in the same costume as a HasLab, but not that the character itself will never be released. It gives you a reason to back the HasLab if you're a completist, and it makes you feel special, but it also doesn't anger those that can't afford a HasLab, or don't find it worthwhile.
  3. Mmm, I don't know. I complained that Mady was part of the EoV because I'm an X-Man fan, and wanted to get her, but not a Ghost Rider vehicle. If the figures chosen are appropriate, not main characters, and a little unique, I think the work as tiers. There are lots of costume variants for Wasp and Hank that the HasLab could have had them, and the character could still be released at regular retail as well. I like the idea of a big complete box set...Fin Fang Foom with Mandarin, Iron Man, and War Machine tiers to make a Dragon Seed box set? That would be great! Fin Fang Foom with a multi-part Makuta Spaceship build a bridge as tiers? Not so much...
  4. While that would be cool, I doubt they will. That would be breaking the rules, and maybe stop future HasLabs from reaching higher tiers. Why back it if they'll just throw in the extras anyway? The only way they could do it is if they flub the numbers. Like if they "forgot" to add numbers from one day or something, and the total was "actually" 14,327. The only time there have been bonuses was when the number of backers was so mich higher than the highest tier. Though this is the closest to a tier without meeting it a HasLab has been...
  5. See, that was the part I forgot to consider. I was looking at the basic math, and assuming margin goals to work back to Hasbro's cost, and still saw them making profit when giving away "free" figures. But yes, when the cost per piece goes down due to volume, they can make even MORE money than my rough calcs were showing me. I'm still gonna believe they're free though because I want to believe Hasbro if full of good guys and not money hungry corporate types.
  6. ARE the bonus tiers worked into the retail price? I was under the impression, and this could be me being naive and believing that companies are essentially nice, but I was under the impression that they have margin goals for each tier, and if they can crack the next tier, they can afford to give extra figures. Yes, they would make less margin per sale, but the volume brings in more overall margin. The tiers are a way to drive that volume. That would explain how they could throw in an extra Sentinel tentacle, manufacture a fourth tier for the Tri-Sentinel head, and include a surprise add on to Deathsaurus, all without changing the price. It's always bugged me when margin rate is given more weight than margin dollars. You can't put rate in the bank...
  7. Hurm...the rubbery plastic for the mask worries me a little. On another (albeit older) Hasbro toy: "Unfortunately, over time, the rubber starts to erode the surrounding plastic. The process is very slow, but the effect is noticeable; affected plastic appears melty and distorted."
  8. I am not interested in this fig at all (Team Cyclops, born and bred), but it will make me sad if it doesn't fund. That would make the team hesitant to keep making HasLabs, especially Marvel ones.
  9. I totally agree...I've been reading old back issues as well, and even stories I didn't like at the time I find to be great compared to what's coming out now. There are a few good new stories (HoX/PoX, Batman White Knight, etc.), but they seem few and far between.
  10. I was right there with you up until the last statement. Sounds like a rehash of an old story, silly premise, and boring art. Still...it's the X-Men. How can I not pick it up? (Yes, I AM part of the problem)
  11. "Giant-Man is the tallest hero yet designed for the Marvel Legends line..." I was about to call bull$#!+, then realized it said HERO. Can't believe he's almost half the price of the earlier HasLabs...I guess electronics are REALLY expensive.
  12. How easy do you think it would be to remove the pinstripes from the jacket? A little paint thinner or acetone? Worried that the soft jacket may melt. I ask because I have a Shadow King head that's looking for a body, and this ain't half bad:
