Errrrrrr......so it's only different mouths? They billed them as different complete head sculpts. I'm not imagining it. They totally presented them that way.

I couldn’t recall, so I went back to the images at the beginning of the thread. They had a graphic that said “three swappaple face plate accessories”, and Dwight actually showed how it was swapped out like the MODOK figure face plates.

Crap. The fact that you could order 2 figures and get free shipping was what made it worth the wait. Now paying $38 after tax and shipping I might has well have just ordered them for $40 months ago off the secondary market. I'm glad they're trying to stop the scalpers, but seriously, is limiting it to 1 versus 2 doing it all that much good? You're still pissing off the consumer, you're just doing it in a different way.

I was actually thinking the same thing, and then I remembered Walgreens sells a little of everything. So I ordered some Cheeze-It’s for my kids (we’re running low), and some shampoo/body wash. Got free shipping and I didn’t have to remember to get those the next time I go to the grocery store.

And I'll be buying Legends only when the price drops. These are in now way worth $25. Not when Mc Farlane and Mattel WWE offer better detail and bigger scales for way less.

That’s what I don’t understand. When Netflix increases the price, I get it. Talent costs money. But this feels short sighted. What is going to happen when the price of oil drops and the supply chain clears up? Those are not permanent issues. But because Hasbro is raising the price now, it is highly unlikely they will drop the price later. When has that ever happened in the toy industry? Rather they will just lock in the improved margin. It screams of a company that doesn’t want to eat the higher costs until things get better. They will find that demand for their toys is more elastic than they think.

The only Figure I want from what if is Ultron dude was a beast in that series

There’s simply no way Hasbro doesn’t make that figure in the near future. The only question is how will they deliver it? Will it be a release at $26.99, or a two pack with a re-released Watcher (probably) or Gamora (I wish).  Regardless, if you’re like most people who liked some but not all of the episodes, you’ll be kicking yourself when they release this Ultron and you scramble to pay secondary market prices for T’Challa and Dr. Strange.

So, I stopped at my local Target tonight to see if they might have Thena on the shelf. The only Marvel Legends they had were 7 figures of Ikkaris from this wave. Do you think they got a case of just that figure? Seemed weird.

It's very rare that I see more than 1 or 2 figures on the shelf at any given time at either the Super Target so Super Walmart in my town. The actual town I live in only has about 70,000 people but the county we live in (which includes Des Moines) has well over a half million. There are several other Super Targets and Super Walmarts in the county but none ever seem to have Legends there either. I was at Walmart tonight too at they had exactly one Legend, the John Walker Captain America from the Disney+ wave. I tend to have better luck at Gamestop though, last time I was there they still had a Leader, Gamerverse Cap, Gamerverse Ms Marvel, Ironheart, 2 Darkstars, an Infinity Saga Odin, Infinity Saga Thor, Spymaster, Frogman and Melina/Guardian 2-pack. Target/Walmart would never have any of those 'older' figures.

Generally speaking, I preorder everything. But if you like going in store, you’re kind of at the mercy of the people stocking the shelves. I ordered Thena for in store pickup, and out of curiosity went to see what was on the shelves. There was nothing. But the website says they have 8 each of Ikaris, Sersi, Druig and a few more of Thena. Obviously they just haven’t gotten around to putting things out. So again, if it were me, I would check online to see if it’s in stock and order for pickup. Unless you like the thrill of the hunt!

  6. In fairness, Walmart exclusives have been more accessible than Target, in my opinion, and certainly better than Walgreens. The Venomized Captain America, Compound Hulk, John Walker Captain America, and Deadpool Cable are still available on the site. Infinity War Cap was available online for months. No, it probably won’t be found in the stores, but if you’re ok with ordering online, I’m optimistic this won’t be that hard to get.

Please can we get some Gen X folks finally, anybody, I kinda have a feeling Synch might come first. I also could imagine a Longshot coming in this wave, they def won't give us Banshee in the same wave as Siryn, or probably a Feral or Wolfsbane, probably a long over due BAF like Blob or Mojo, prob Mojo and a Longshot fig.

dreams coming true would be another Alpha Flight character and at least 1 Gen X fig, heres hoping on Armored Psylocke or her Cap Britain look.

I’m thinking that between MODOK, Surtur and the Hydra Stomper, when the time comes for Blob and Mojo it will be a single deluxe release at the $50 price point. Those characters feel too big to do via BAF, which is probably why we haven’t seen Hasbro do them before. Now that Hasbro has gotten its feet wet at that price point, we may very well see those in the next 1-2 years.

  8. It’s a bit unfair to criticize Disney, in my opinion. They likely went this route because of Scarlet Johansson’s lawsuit. The contracts for the actors and actresses in Shang Chi are likely the same as hers, meaning they get paid based on box office. If the Disney+ premium watchers suppressed the box office numbers for this film due to a simultaneous release, they would be in the same situation they find themselves in with Scarlet Johansson. Going forward the movie industry needs to and will adjust the way these contracts determine what/how the acting talent gets paid. In the long run I doubt the theater industry ever makes a complete comeback. That’s disheartening as an MCU fan as I’m concerned if the quality will dip, or cease altogether if Disney determines they can no longer bank on $800m to $1b in box office receipts on these films. If anything, this proves that the Disney+ premium sales for Black Widow didn’t suppress its box office numbers as much as Scarlett Johansson felt it did.

The truth is that there’s still a large contingent of the population which is uncomfortable cramming themselves into theaters sprinkled with unvaccinated and non-mask wearing viewers for several hours.

Good to see that he has finally shown up in CA. that likely means it is still a few weeks before he shows up on the east coast. usually i just start checking ebay, once i find folks within 100 miles of me scalping a figure, that means its time to begin hunting.

And here I was thinking I was clever for doing the same thing. That’s exactly how I managed to get a hold of Endgame Worthy Cap at Walmart, and Moon Knight at Walgreens.

Anyone else know why the sudden surge on the backers? Is it like big bad toys, and others  backing it something?

Someone mentioned the foreign retailers may be waiting to put in their orders at the end of the campaign. So it could be that. But what you suggested would make a lot of sense too. Why wouldn’t a large e-tailers put in large orders and sell them after the fact for a modest markup? Look at the demand for the Sentinel on eBay. There are bound to be people who will decide over the next year they want a Galactus. Seems like it would be a good idea for EE, Big Bad, and others to buy some.

Yes! I get a lot of people here aren’t MCU enthusiasts, but for those that are, it’s relief to not end up with only a fraction of the characters in the film. If you got the WandaVision figures, you probably thought “well what am I supposed to do with Wanda without Agatha?” Or if you snagged the Dr. Strange film figures, thought, “where’s the Ancient One, Wong or Kaecilius?”

So I've been tracking this campaign's daily progress and reporting findings to my Instagram & an MLC FB group pretty much since it started, but @JayC suggested I share here to raise awareness. Basically, I measure new backer count every 24 hours, and plug my data into a program that outputs new fitted prediction curves based on the existing data. It's really useful for measuring the impact that Hasbro's communication (or lack thereof) has on the success of its project. Unsurprisingly, every spike observed has immediately followed the release of new information (even if only speculative). The newest spike was observed today (a +227% day-over-day increase in new backers) conveniently following Boog_Nice's interview with the team; the details of which are now making the rounds on media outlets like this site.

Like I said, I make these reports daily. So if it's something you'd like to see here more regularly, let me know. And feel free to ask questions. Hopefully I can answer them with the data available.

Definitely interesting. I had been doing a similar thing on my end, until someone on these boards mentioned something about a late bump, which is apparently common in these Haslab projects. Is that something you have factored in? Or are you extrapolating based on just the backer count/pace to date?

The only reason I'm somewhat skeptical about that is almost all of the previous HasLab projects have had similar numbers of minimum backers. The Sentinel and the Star Wars Razor Crest were both 6,000. Jabba's Sail Barge was 5,000. Unicron was 8,000. Even though Star Wars and Transformers are different divisions from Marvel Legends, that's still pretty consistent and those numbers would have to be signed off on by the top people at Hasbro.

Admittedly I don’t know as much about those projects, but I feel like the Sentinel, from what I can tell, was a wholly different animal, build-wise. I think it was new territory for them.

Is Galactus that much better than the Sentinel? I doubt it though as far as price goes we are only talking about a $50 difference. We could debate until we are blue in the face why the price is higher and baker count is higher. I dont think it matters. It is what it is and they arent going to lower the price or reduce the number of backers needed at this point. I think people just need to decide if having a 32" Galactus is worth it to them to drop $400 or not. I can certainly respect anyone who decides its not but I also dont really think they are trying to rip people off either.

I agree they aren’t trying to rip anyone off, in fact i think it’s the opposite. I think they probably realized they were off on the internal estimates to make the Sentinel and adjusted accordingly with Galactus.

This will never happen as it would reveal their internal price points, but I think it would be a great idea if instead of a set price they had each backer give a maximum price they would be willing to pay. For example, you could nominate say $500, at which point the unit minimum is maybe 6k or 8k. So if they don’t hit the minimum backer count at $400, maybe they would at $500. Let consumers decide (with a floor price) what they would be willing to pay for it. Heck, if it barely tops 14k, I would be down if Hasbro emailed me and asked if I would give another $25 if it meant getting Frankie Ray made.

  15. In other words, increased prices made a figure increase 15% from $20 to $23. That’s the same percentage increase from $350 to $400. So is the product itself really that much better in size and articulation than the Sentinel of that they had to more than double the backer count? I doubt it. I just think they were way off on what they thought it would cost to make the Sentinel.
