  1. I watched the first 2 and am impressed. Much like the formula from the original, where you hit semi-accurate comic plots with accurate-enough character portrayals, is working. Nitpick all you want, but the tone feels right, the dialog isn’t Shakespeare, but it is a nicely updated riff on the original. Anyone throwing hate toward it, or any beloved staple of childhood, is not taking into account the foggy vision/memories that nostalgia invokes. It’s like Star Wars; if you grew up with it, whatever era of films, they are yours. You understood them with the perspective of youth, and your deep-seated memories only grow in importance over time, almost to a fetishized level. This is why old folks like me didn’t enjoy the prequel or sequel trilogy, generally. Since I came to the X-Men series via comics, first, I didn’t like the original tv show at launch, because it wasn’t MY X-Men, or MY team, or the way they treated Nightcrawler was off, etc. It’s only later in life, as an adult, that I can enjoy things for what they are; entertainment. It’s the equivalent of watching someone else play with their X-Men toys, or Star Wars action figures. They may not make the decisions I would like to make, or develop a beloved character the way I would, but let them have their shot. I am just ecstatic that we live at a time where the nerds won, and media companies are willing to invest in a continuation of this cartoon, or Marvel shows, or Star Wars. Yes, ultimately it is to make money, and that comes with obligations and strings attached, but it is also the precise way we actually get new content and time to see new stories in the worlds we adore.
  2. Maddie, Magneto, and Nightcrawler. Is it just me, or are the two heads for Nightcrawler extremely similar?!
  3. Man alive, Crystar?! I am super stoked. That was a bucket list for me. Clea is welcome, as well. X-Men look ok. Bishop looks the best, to me, but I’ll probably pass on the lot of them.
  4. This looks sick! I don’t usually care about what parts they are using/re-using, etc., even how comic-accurate it is; I care about how the figure looks and represents the character. This one is fantastic, and will easily replace the old school Toybiz one on my Avengers shelf. Plus, the cycle!! Any minor quibbles aside, you have to admit that this year has been incredible for the collectors out there. We’ve been getting such great additions and rehashes that are superior. Now, all I need is for them to go do a New Universe DP7 team boxset, and this year would be complete hahaha.
  5. Thank you for the tip on the warehouse sale! I completely missed this, and due to your reminder, I just filled in some gaps with a great discount!!
  6. Man, the Outback era was my favorite. I guess I was a kid at the right age for it. This set looks good, and the updated Dazzler and Longshot are killer for me. We’ve got a good mohawk Storm, brown togs Wolverine, the new Havok, Dazzler, Longshot. They could do a wave and throw in a good Outback Rogue, finally a Psylocke that is un-ninjafied, an updated Storm with the yellow lightning on her chest, Gateway, Magneto, and a BAF shirtless Colossus. Boom. They’d have my money right there.
  7. Eh, being old enough to have grown up with the Secret Wars toys in the ‘80s, these hit a sweet tooth of nostalgia for me. Yeah, they are not up to modern figure standards, but they certainly match that old line, perfectly, and I can display my vintage Dr. Doom (with cycle!) and Wolverine with these. My biggest gripe is the dang price! Make these $5, and I’d buy all of em.
  8. Man, not to be a naysayer, but Wolverine and Sabretooth are making my heart sink for this wave. Started out strong, keeps getting worse. Where’s a classic look Rachel Summers? How about Armored Betsy? It’s ridiculous that we have a Fantomex figure but not those two. Destiny, Avalanche, Lilandra, Mimic, Dearthbird, STARJAMMERS!!, Mikhail Rasputin, Feral, Shard, Synch, Husk, Chamber, Skin, M, Fitzroy, Marrow. Dang, I’d take a Beak over Wolvie or Sabretooth any day, because it’s NEW and UNIQUE to a line I’ve been collecting since those first 6” Spidey figs hit pegs I know they have to put heavy-hitters to move the wave; it’s a must, but when you have a character with a half dozen variants and more on the way, it makes it hard to want to pick up a whole line for the BAF. I personally hate Deadpool as a character, and how many times do they throw a version of him in a wave, lately? How many times do I buy a case for the BAF and not even open some figs except for the arm/hands/torso? Yet, you all know that the BAF will be something amazing, like what they did with Strong Guy, so we end up reinforcing that they are doing great work with assortments because we want that BAF.
