The differences go deeper than an artist's interpretation, and here's the break down as I see it: The 2-pack figure has the same pointed shoulders, wrist gauntlets, boots with yellow tops and three black marks, and belt as the Cockrum design. (Although the belt buckle has an "X" in the middle instead of a circular shape). The 90's version has squared shoulders and boot tops, an "X" belt buckle with cylinders wrapping around his belt, and the wrist gauntlets are segmented.

Marvel Legends - What We Know After #NYTF 2019

Also, are the around-the-eyes blast effect on the vintage wave Cyclops figure non removable for both of his interchangeable heads? If so, I'm surprised there hasn't been any criticism from fans. Having at least one head completely neutral seems like the better choice.- 39 replies

It seems there is a general misconception regarding the upcoming 80th Anniversary Colossus. He's based on the Cockrum/Byrne look from the 70's/80's and not the Lee/Portacio design from the 90's. On the left is Dave Cockrum's design and the other two images are from Lee and Portacio, respectively. Note the difference in Cockrum's pointed shoulders vs. Lee's squared design, the tops of the boots are different, and the wrist gauntlets as well. I'm glad we're getting the classic Colossus costume but we still need an official Lee version too.

Marvel Legends - What We Know After #NYTF 2019

Great coverage as usual, @JayC! There are a few points I'd like to comment on: - I never considered Sinister or Hydro Man would be a BAF (actually Hydro Man could make sense what with interchangeable watery parts) - Do we know if that shirt is removable on the 80th Anniversary Hulk? - Colossus is listed as Jim Lee version, which is incorrect. He's in his Cockrum/Byrne costume. Did the Jim Lee categorization come from Hasbro or perhaps he was incorrectly named on social media sites? Regardless, this year is going to be a strong year for Legends and look forward to picking up about twenty of them.- 39 replies

Dude! I cannot express how much I want this figure! I'm extremely thankful we're getting a new classic version, however now that we have it out of the way we can finally get an Eric Masterson Thor.

Hasbro did a great job with Talos. The sculpt is tight and the paint is on point. So much detail!

Stopped by two Walmarts, Target, GameStop, and a Tuesday Morning store and found most of the Captain Marvel wave at one Walmart, nothing at the other Walmart or Target, the Dora Milaje at GameStop, and nothing at Tuesday Morning. -

If anyone is searching in upstate NY area (Albany and north) there's not much to be had out there. I snagged an Infinity Gauntlet on sale for $65 at Wilton Walmart and the Wilton Walgreens had three Magiks. I've been hitting Targets and Walmarts on almost a daily basis hoping to score some Captain Marvel action or seeing some great clearance sales but nada. I even popped into K-Mart where they still have a full of Sasquatch BAF wave and Thanos BAF wave. Crazy. -

Maybe a Star Wars vehicle missile? -
Didn't Toy Biz show it off at Toy Fair or SDCC in like 2006 before the license went to Hasbro? I have a vague recollection of that happening but haven't been able to find a pic online...then I kinda forgot and stopped looking lol

I'm in desperate need of the 90's versions of GOTG. I know we got Vance Astro last year, but he felt like more of an inclusion due to his appearance in the 2008 comic series (which is fine). That being said, let see some more Jim Valentino inspired costumes!

I'm seeing a lot of great character choices on here, so here's my list. The first two I feel Hasbro really needs to get done (It was three but we're FINALLY getting Jubilee). Most everyone else will help us add to teams we're getting now. 1. Storm in her classic Giant Sized X-Men costume 2. Shadowcat in her classic blue costume 3. 90's Yondu 4. Classic Ultron 5. 90's Havok in his X-Factor costume 6. Crossfire (random villain, but a lot of fun and can be made with minimal effort. Just need a new head on either the Bucky Cap or Bullseye body) 7. Classic Firestar 8. 90's Thanos (Hasbro makes this happen. I appreciate the repaint Walmart exclusive this year but c'mon!) 9. Classic Monica Rambeau Captain Marvel 10. Classic Boomerang

2018 MCM London Comic Con - Hasbro Marvel Panel
joenubb replied to JayC's topic in Marvelous News's General Area
I agree about the cross continent promotion. During the Canadian Con last month they reveal Guardian, leader of the Canadian super team Alpha Flight, this month they reveal the French villain, Grey Gargoyle, at the Paris Con, now we get Union Jack in London. Am I missing anything else? Oh, also right before they announced Nighthawk they put out a free downloadable issue on the Marvel Comics app. I love how Marvel and Hasbro is handling their roll outs. It's a lot of fun and clever. If they ever do a Israel Con I'll be expecting a Sabra figure! -

We are long overdue for a Citizen V figure (but those crickets cut me to the core), especially with Songbird being made earlier this year (although technically that version of her never appeared with the classic Citizen V). In conclusion I am so happy this guy is being made!!! -

Beast looks amazing, and Union Jack is cool and all, but CITIZEN V!!!! I have been wanting this figure since '97 and I'm so glad they're making him in his original look. The cape looks like it will limit the arm movement but I'm so happy to be getting this figure I don't care! -
I actually kinda dig this Venom offering. Yes, he's a retread that a customizer could easily make, but for me the positives are that he's based on a 90's comic (What If #44), and he does offer up the "tongue out" Venom head minus the green slime that I've seen folks on forums dislike. Plus he's through the subscription service which has always been quick easy repaints so we know not to expect too much. (And I don't mean that in a bad way either)

Haha yeah I liked the post you made with the side by side shot of Kree Sentry and DP MM. Definitely some similarities there. Regardless I certainly do hope that Hasbro can get us a classic Sentry in the future. I'll be honest though since I always prefer the classic looks to modern takes on characters.

Nice! I actually found your page a couple of weeks ago before I even knew you were the author. Keep it up!

From what I see, it's not that the Kirby design is too tough to capture, I think it has to do more with how cool an action has to look for it to sell better. The old Kirby design, while great for it's time, still looks like a "spandex costume". The contour of the character is smooth whereas the new Hasbro figure design adds depth to the design. There are ridges and texture. I definitely would love to see an old school version of the Free Sentry, but I understand why Hasbro went the way they did.

Yeah but I'm not into customizing and would prefer an official Hasbro release.
