  2. Back in February it was revealed by Hasbro that we would be getting a Nimrod figure this year. While they clearly stated that Nimrod would NOT be released as a Build-A-Figure, but were scarce on the details of just how the figure would see release. Now thanks to Amazon France we have a clue to that mystery. On the site they are listing a Marvel Legends 3-Pack featuring figures of Nimrod, Psylocke and Fantomex. So it's probably safe to assume the Nimrod figure listed is the same one we saw at Toy Fair. It's still unclear however, what exact versions of Psylocke and Fantomex we will be getting. The Nimrod figure is based on the designs seen in the recent Power Of X/House Of X Marvel Comics storyline, so will the Pyslocke and Fantomex figures follow along those same lines? If so that leaves a couple of different options for the Psylocke figure. In the comics Elizabeth Braddock who was the original Psylocke, is now the new Captain Britain. And the name Psylocke is now being used by the character formerly known as Kwannon. So conceivably we could get a figure of either of these two versions. Of course Hasbro could be cheap and just re-issue the recent Jim Lee style Psylocke figure they put out in 2018. It might even have X-Force paint apps since her and Fantomex served together on that team for awhile. As for Fantomex, I don't know if his look has drastically changed much over the years. Hasbro did a Marvel Legends figure of him some time back, but he could definitely use an update. The character is also slated with a one-shot comic due out in May. So we still have some questions needing answers for this and of course until Hasbro officially announces this, we will treat it as rumor.
  3. When it comes to Marvel, Todd McFarlane is probably best known for his work on the Spider-Man comics. In the 90's he played a large role in revitalizing the character and even launched a new title for the character that he did both the writing and art for. Spider-Man however wasn't the only Marvel title he worked on or the only Marvel character he drew. Incredible Hulk was actually the first title for Marvel he began doing a regular stint on from 1987 to 1988, working with writer legendary writer Peter David. Over the years McFarlane showed us his version of many Marvel based characters including the X-Men, Captain America, Fantastic Four and of course Venom that he helped create. Since those early days, McFarlane has gone on to do a lot in the industry including being a founding member of Image Comics as well as launching his own Toy Company called McFarlane Toys. In the past year McFarlane even secured the rights from Warner Bros. to produce DC Comic based action figures, another comic book company he did art for back in the 80's and 90's. Just today McFarlane posted on his Instagram this image featuring art he did of Wolverine. With the art he posted the following: Now Todd can wish all he wants. but I don't think there is much chance McFarlane Toys could take the Marvel toy license from Hasbro. However, WHAT IF Hasbro did a sub-line of Artist Inspired Marvel Legends figures specifically based on McFarlane's art? Perhaps they could even bring Todd himself, independent from his company as a consultant for the sub-line? Let us know what you think in the COMMENTS SECTION. Would you like Hasbro do comic book artist inspired Marvel Legends figures, and besides McFarlane, which artists and their work would you like to see turned into action figures?
  4. This is a rumor that has actually been floating around on the net for a while now, so I don't really consider this major breaking news. However I can tell you that I now have been able to confirm this is happening by multiple sources. Of course until Hasbro officially confirms it, which will likely happen this weekend at Toy Fair, we will still consider it a rumor. So the wave is labeled as a 6" Spider-Man Retro wave. I assume this means the figures will come on cardbacks that pay tribute to the original Toy Biz 5" Spider-Man line which was released during the time of the 90's Spider-Man animated series on Fox. The wave will figures of Daredevil, Electro, Green Goblin, Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker, and of course Spider-Man.
  5. ReedPOP has now officially canceled their UK based MCM Comic Con Conventions for this summer season due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The MCM Comic Con London in recent years has been one of the conventions Hasbro was attending to reveal new product. Here is the official statement:
  6. Perhaps my favorite look and possibly the most unique looking of the primary suits worn by Tony Stark, is the Silver Centurion Iron Man armor. The darker red and silver colors were a vast departure from the typical gold and red armor normally worn by the character. The suit first appeared back in 1985 in Iron Man #200. Besides looking very different from previous armors in both colors and design, the debut of this armor also marked the long return of Tony Stark as Iron Man. 2 years earlier in Iron Man #169, Stark gave up being Iron Man due to his struggles with alcohol and handed the reins over to his best friend James Rhodes. Rhodes was the man behind the helmet for such major events as the first Secret Wars and became one of the founding members of the West Coast Avengers. Stark had actually created the Silver Centurion armor for Rhodes, but ended up having to don the suit himself after Rhodes was critically injured at the hands of Obadiah Stane and Stan's Iron Monger armor. Stane and the Iron Monger armor of course later appeared in the first Iron Man movie. Stark continued wearing the red and silver armor for around 3 years, in both the Iron Man and West Coast Avengers comics. Eventually the suit was badly damaged in issue #230 at the hands of another armored character known as Firepower. This was during the classic "The Armor Wars" storyline where Stark also took on former ally Steve Rogers, who at the time wore the USAgent costume and was going by the name of The Captain. The shield Rogers used during that time was actually created by Stark and only contained Vibranium. After the events of "The Armor Wars" and his battle with Firepower in issue #230, Stark faked Iron Man's death and created a new armor and persona for the armored Avenger. At the time Stark's identity as Iron Man was a secret. The new armor while pretty cool in design returned to the traditional gold and red colors. Over the years we have gotten a few action figures based on the comic book version of the Silver Centurion armor. Toy Biz gave us a very cool 6" Marvel Legends version, which featured a removable faceplate and a giant rocket space pack that also acted as a display stand. While Hasbro has yet to give us a 6" version, they did give us a 3.75" version in their Iron Man 2 line, and then again in their Marvel Universe line as part of their comic 2-pack assortment. We have also seen variations of the Silver Centurion from the movies and Armored Adventures done as figures, but those weren't comic book accurate. So when will Hasbro give us a modern 6" Marvel Legends figure based on the Silver Centurion armor from the comics? Well if rumors and computer listings are to be believed, the answer should be sometime later this year, likely released as a Walgreens exclusive. Whether this will be a retooled figure based on one of the more recent Iron Man figures Hasbro has released, or a completely new sculpt remains to be seen, but I have high hopes it will look good either way. The Walgreens's exclusive Iron Man 2020 figure is hitting shelves now, and we know Hasbro also has a new War Machine figure slated for release later this year as a deluxe figure. My guess is, we will see the Silver Centurion announced around July with a later in the year release date. Until then check out this cool custom 6" Silver Centurion Iron Man figure done by Lokoboys. Let us know in the COMMENTS SECTION, will a Silver Centurion Iron Man Marvel Legends figure be a must buy purchase for you?

  9. I don’t know what it’s been like for you these past several weeks. For me, I have been stuck in my house with a COVID-19 pandemic shelter in place rule in place, leaving only for a supply run to the corner grocery or taking my dog for a walk. My access to new action figures (assuming any are available on local shelves) has been greatly restricted. I still have access to shopping online for my plastic fix at places like BBTS, but the recent events really have me thinking about what the future holds for action figures and how things might change long-term. Obviously, with many under the same type of shelter in place restrictions, I am sure several will turn to more online shopping, at least in the immediate future. With that in mind, WHAT IF a company like Hasbro started shaping how they release figures based more on the online delivery channels? In particular, I was looking at their recent Marvel Legends Hydra Soldier army builder figure. The single-packed figure with a few accessories shipped in a mailer-type box with some artwork on it and only cost $14.99. The packaging is what intrigues me the most about this figure. Not only does it meet the new non-plastic standards Hasbro is said to be implementing soon for all of its brands, the box also is simple and (I assume) cheaper than the regular Marvel Legends packaging. If most people move to buying their figures online, there is no longer a real need to have the figure visible in the package and the artwork makes it nice if you don’t want to open it. Now, I don’t see Hasbro as able to lower the price of their Marvel Legends figures across the board to $14.99. Keep in mind the Hydra figure had already been released multiple times, so Hasbro likely already earned the return on their investment in the sculpt. If this was a brand new figure, I doubt they would be able to sell it as cheaply, even with cheaper packaging. You hear over and over in the media that this is the new norm, and I don’t really know what that means for the long-term. I certainly don’t see people fully giving up shopping at physical stores. I do think there will be a significant shift to more online activity, including shopping, even after the immediate crisis subsides. So maybe shifting the focus on how one sells their products isn’t such a bad idea?

  18. During Toy Fair back in February, Hasbro revealed they were going to be offering the first Marvel Legends themed product this year for their Haslab crowdfunding service. While no specific details have been announced, all indications suggest that the item being done will be some type of X-Men Sentinel figure. Hasbro also said that full details would be revealed sometime before San Diego Comic Con in July. Since Toy Fair, a lot of things have changed in the world thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, causing a lot of uncertainty on many fronts. Assuming Hasbro is even able to still move forward with production on such a figure right now, the question remains should they? Could a crowdsourcing project for a figure that is likely going to be a fairly expensive be successful in a year like this? A year were disposable income is likely going to decrease for many, as lots of businesses are temporarily shutdown? At this point we don't even really know if San Diego Comic Con will happen or not this year, which would likely be the best chance for people to see the figure up close and personal before deciding if they wanted to plop money down for it or not. Obviously with everything going on in the world today, we realize this isn't a top priority question. Still we wanted to hear from you the Marvel Legends collector, do you want or think Hasbro should move forward with their Haslab Sentinel this year, or do you think it would be better to wait until next year when things are much more likely to be back to normal? Let us know in the COMMENTS SECTION.

  23. During Toy Fair it was officially announced that another classic Marvel villain was getting the Marvel Legends treatment with Hulk’s arch-nemesis The Leader. The Leader With that I thought it would be fun to create a list of 15 non-X-Men and Spider-Man based villains that would be cool to see made for Hasbro's Marvel Legends line. Of course I would love to hear your own thoughts about which villains you want to see made in the COMMENTS SECTION below. This list is done in alphabetic order. Attuma One of Namor’s arch-enemies but has been known to go toe-to-toe with the entire Avengers team. His Atlantean armor alone would make for a great looking figure. Diablo An evil alchemist and known enemy of the Fantastic Four, Diablo was originally created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and we think is long overdue for the Marvel Legends treatment. Ghost We’ve gotten a more modern version and a female MCU version, but I would really like to see a figure done based on his original look from the Iron Man comics. Graviton The Avengers version of Magneto, this villain while never really gaining the notoriety Magneto has I always liked, especially in the pages of West Coast Avengers. Instead of magnetism he controls gravity and even appeared in the Agents of SHIELD tv series. High Evolutionary Not always depicted as a villain, but this is a must have figure for me. He’s gone against the likes of the Fantastic Four, Avengers and even the X-Men in the X-Men Animated Series. I’ve always liked the design of his armor and his power levels are off the charts. Jigsaw One of Punisher’s arch-enemies, this one actually got a Marvel Legends figure made during the Toy Biz days. That one featured the character wearing a Punisher style uniform, but I would love to see a figure made in his classic yellow outfit and have the neck brace. Kang Admittedly I wasn’t sure if I should put this one on the list. Both Toy Biz and Hasbro have given us versions of Kang, but being he is such a heavyweight caliber bad guy, I really think Hasbro should give us a nice updated version. Killer Shrike This is one that could fall under the category of being a Spider-Man villain, but he has gone up against others and was even a member of the Masters of Evil. He's not a major villain but always thought he was pretty cool. Mister Hyde This is one of those big dudes I think would make a perfect fit for a Deluxe offering. He has gone up against the likes of Daredevil, Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain America and many others so he will fit in well with a variety of other Marvel Legends figures on your shelf. Orka Another villain for Sub-Mariner who is also know going up against the likes of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, She-Hulk, and the Defenders. This is another big character I think would make a great deluxe figure. Red Ghost Another classic Fantastic Four villain I would love to see made in figure form. If they could release him in a three pack with his super apes I think this would be a must have for many. Stilt Man Every time I do one of these Villain lists, Stilt Man always gets included. While not the most menacing villain in the Marvel Universe, I just think it would make a really cool action figure with his stilt like legs. Super Adaptoid This is another villain I personally would really love to see. He is a android that mimics the abilities of the heroes he fights. I would love to see a figure based on his classic look which mimics the abilities of the Avengers such as Captain America, Iron Man and Hawkeye. The Mandarin Toy Biz gave us a version back in the day but I think it’s high time Hasbro gave us a comic version of Iron Man’s arch-nemesis. Mandarin has had many different looks over the years but I prefer the green and yellow robe look myself. Wizard Another classic Fantastic Four villain which is hard to believe we have yet to get a Marvel Legends figure of. Hopefully with Hasbro doing more FF based figures recently, Wizard will soon be on the way.
  24. Hasbro's CEO Brian Goldner was on CNBC this morning and overall gave a pretty positive outlook for the future of the company despite growing concerns over Covid-19. He indicated production would be back at full capacity in China by the end of week and that sales for the company remained strong, in large part because demand was up for their gaming products as people hunker down at home. While production due to factory closures overseas had fallen behind a bit, he indicated that he felt they would soon be able to offset that and be back on track as things ramp back up. He also said their were no plans for any kind of layoffs in the foreseeable future.
