The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Sony is developing a sequel to Venom with Kelly Marcel writing the script. Marcel is among the writers of the first film with Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal producing the sequel. Ruben Fleischer directed the first installment but is currently working on a Zombieland follow-up. He told sources that he is expected to be involved in a sequel should one occur. Expected to return from the first Venom movie are Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams and Woody Harrelson. Hardy starred as the Spider-Man anti-hero Venom and Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady, a serial killer who in the comics becomes Venom's archnemesis Carnage. Venom was released in October with mixed to bad reviews but went on to earn more than $855 million globally.

Marvel has released a whole collection of character movie posters for "Captain Marvel" starring Goose the cat and some other humans... Sources within Variety are reporting that Doctor Who alum Matt Smith in final talks to join Jared Leto in “Morbius,” a film based on the Spider-Man villain of the same name. Details of who Smith would play are unknown at this time, other than it being a major role in the film. The project is being helmed by Daniel Espinosa from a script penned by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing “Morbius” with Lucas Foster. Palak Patel will oversee the feature for Sony. The Morbius character was created in 1971 by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane for “The Amazing Spider-Man #101.” The character was a scientist who tried to cure himself of a blood disease, with tragic results. He became afflicted with vampiric traits such as fangs and a thirst for blood — and wound up battling Spider-Man. The character has appeared in different Marvel Comics over the years and had his own series in 1992, labeled “Morbius, the Living Vampire,” which had a 32-issue run through April of 1995.

For those of you into Disney's line of Marvel related Toybox figures, we have a look at two new additions to the line. The first is a Miles Morales version of Spider-Man as well as a new version of Iron Man. Sources have informed The Hollywood Reporter that director Scott Derrickson has finalized a deal to helm the sequel to Marvel's Doctor Strange which he originally directed and co-wrote in 2016. Benedict Cumberbatch will return as Stephen Strange, the good doctor turned master of the mystic arts, as will Benedict Wong, who played his right-hand man, Wong. Rachel McAdams, who played Stephen Strange’s love interest, is likely to return as well. A search for a writer to pen the script is underway as the plan is for the script to be out in 2019 with production starting in the spring of 2020 and in theaters by May of 2021.

A brand-new 30-second commercial has been released for "Once Upon A Deadpool," which is FOX's upcoming holiday release of the PG-13 version of "Deadpool 2." With a portion of the proceeds going to charity -- for every ticket sold, one dollar will go to the "Fudge Cancer" charity campaign, "Once Upon A Deadpool" arrives in theaters December 12th. The Walt Disney Company’s new direct-to-consumer streaming service will be called Disney+. Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger revealed the service’s name today during a live audio webcast of Disney’s fiscal full year and fourth quarter 2018 financial results. Disney+ is scheduled to launch in the U.S. in late 2019. Iger also announced that Lucasfilm is in development on a second Star Wars live-action series for Disney+ that will go into production next year. The series will follow the adventures of Rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Diego Luna will reprise the role of Andor, which he originated in the 2016 film. “Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,” said Luna. “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.” The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire. A release date for the series will be announced at a later date. Disney+ is also assembling a live-action series centered around a fan-favorite character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Iger today confirmed that Marvel Studios is developing a series based on Loki, the god of mischief, to star Tom Hiddleston. The new projects join an impressive slate of films and series planned for Disney+ that includes new stories set in the worlds of Disney•Pixar’s Monsters Inc. and Disney Channel’s High School Musical, as well as a galaxy far, far away. Earlier this year, Lucasfilm revealed that Emmy-nominated producer and actor Jon Favreau will write and executive produce The Mandalorian for Disney+. Marvel Studios is looking to try and sneak in additional characters into Avengers 4 as actress Katherine Langford has filmed scenes for the upcoming Avengers movie in an undisclosed role. As the plot surrounding Avengers 4 is based on rumors and speculations, set photos suggest a time jump. Producer Kevin Feige and directors Anthony and Joe Russo confirmed that the film will serve as a conclusion to the MCU fans have known for the past decade and an entry point to new characters, stories and concepts.
