  1. In a tale of what could have been, toy designer David Vonner who has previously worked at both Hasbro and Mattel recently revealed that years ago he purposed an idea of doing a Marvel, DC, Hasbro, Mattel SDCC collaboration where a action figure boxset would be created based on the classic 1982 Chris Claremont The Uncanny X-Men and The New Teen Titans comic book which was done as a cross-company publication between Marvel and DC Comics. Dave didn't specify which company he was working for when he purposed the idea or for what scale, 6" or 4". He said the idea was to do the boxset as a San Diego Comic Con exclusive with all proceeds going to charity. He said the idea was shot down without blinking an eye, so its probably safe to say there was never much of a chance for this becoming a reality. Still I think most collectors of both DC and Marvel figures would have been pretty excited if such a thing every materialized. What do you think, is this something you would have bought?

  3. For my latest interview, I got a chance to sit down with David Vonner, who is currently a Design Manager on Mattel's WWE line of action figures. Before that David worked at Hasbro, and was the driving force behind their 3.75" Marvel Universe line. Before coming to Hasbro, David got his start making action figures at Toy Biz working on Marvel Legends and LOTR figures. We talk about all those things and more in the interview. David was at Atomic Basement Comics in Long Beach, CA during the interview. He also wanted you to know that you should support your local comic book stores.
  4. We're swinging into action on day 2 of the SDCC 2019 show with X-Men Barbie figure images From Mattel! That's right. Mattel. Continuing their Super Heroes line of Barbies, they have acquired the rights to some Marvel characters. No information so far of how this line is going to be moving forward, but the had Phoenix, Storm and Mystique on display. Apparently these will be a Gamestop Exclusive.
