As the final season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to roll out next Summer of 2020, ABC and Disney are already in talks about bringing another Marvel Adaptation of a female superhero to the network. ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke told Deadline, “I have spoken to Marvel and we are in active talks about one project in particular.” While she wouldn’t give away any details, she said the character would be “something brand new, mostly” and that the series would fit in with its strategy of female-focused superheroes. ABC developed a show last year and gave a production commitment to an untitled hourlong drama from Wonder Women writer Allan Heinberg, Marvel Television and ABC Studios. Written by Heinberg, it was about female characters with superpowers. But in classic Marvel tradition, few details were offered.

The cast and executive producers of Marvel's Agent's of S.H.I.E.L.D. took the stage in Hall H at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, not even hours after it was announced the show would be ending after its seventh season. “This has been an incredible journey,” Clark Gregg told Hall H and that he was “very moved.” Marvel Television Jeph Loeb talked about all the seasons of S.H.I.E.L.D. offered thanks to the fans and more. “The people behind the cameras also contribute so much, it blows my mind,” emotionally noted Ming-Na Wen. Attending the panel besides Besides Wen, Gregg, and Loeb, S.H.I.E.L.D. cast mates, Chloe Bennet, Elizabeth Henstridge, Iain De Caestecker, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley and Jeff Ward. Executive producers Maurissa Tancharoen, Jeff Bell and Jed Whedon were also in attendance. The audience sang Jed Whedon a rendition of Happy Birthday. After the birthday chorus from the audience, Whedon announced that the show was shooting its last episode “right now!” A remark that prompted Gregg to joke “the dragons looks amazing,” in reference to the now concluded Game of Thrones – which has its own Hall H reunion panel tomorrow.   5. ABC announced today that "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," the longest-running Marvel television series, will end after seven seasons. The final 13 episodes are scheduled to air next summer. Season six is currently airing FRIDAYS at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and will air its finale on Aug. 2 with a special two-hour episode. Currently, ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." ranks as the No. 1 program in Friday's 8 p.m. hour this summer among Adults 18-49 and is improving in its new time period by 14% over the comparable weeks last summer to stand as ABC's highest-rated series in the slot in 3 years - since summer 2016. "Agent Coulson is one of the most beloved cinematic heroes of our time, and we're so glad to have spent seven seasons with him and the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents as they saved the world from countless unimaginable big bads," said Karey Burke, president, ABC Entertainment.   15. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. released a video today that teased a season 6 premiere date for May 2019. Not much is known about the new season except it takes place one year after the team dropped a terminal Coulson off in Tahiti.
  16. ABC has decided not to proceed with a pilot order to its Marvel drama from Wonder Woman writer Allan Heinberg. ABC originally gave a production commitment back in September of 2018 for an untitled television drama about lesser-known Marvel female characters with superpowers. It's uncertain if the untitled hourlong drama from Heinberg, Marvel Television and ABC Studios, will be redeveloped. Details were kept quiet, but it is believed to be based on lesser-known Marvel characters with a number of fairly obscure female superhero team-ups that have appeared sporadically in Marvel comics over the years, including A-Force, Lady Liberators and Fearless Defenders. Heinberg, who is under an overall deal at ABC Studios, is executive producing the potential series with Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb. ABC has stated that they want to stay in the Marvel business and hope more projects can be done. “I hope there is more than we are doing together,” she told Deadline.
